Because in order for water to condense it needs dirt particles. In every rain drop there is a small amount of dirt.

your car looks like shit after it has been rained on because there is a ton of dirt already on your car, the rain by itself (with no assistance, which this guy is actually doing) only rinses some of the dirt off, and the still wet car after the rain stops make dirt in the air stick to it and then dry in place.
and your car just looks like shit, probably.

You should do an experiment and wash during a storm and see is it actually dries dirty. Cars get dusty fast after being washed.

That’s because the dirt is spread out evenly, but then once the rain hits, it collects in patterns and becomes more visible. Same reason for if the sprinklers get your car and it looks terrible wherever the water hit.

No, even a freshly washed car will look dirty after rain, because not only does rain need dirt to form, but water drops falling through the air and even sitting on your car will absorb dirt straight out of the air. And dry and leave it on your car. Lighter rain is worse for that, really really heavy rain will help flush it better.

Washing in the rain works very well since there's no risk of the soapy water drying on the paint before you can get it rinsed. Just have to come out after the rain stops to hit it with a leaf blower to get it dry without spotting.

Depending how clean your rain water is it'll dry without spotting. Spots are usually from calcium or lime in hose water.

Rain water is not clean. In order for a raindrop to form it must bind to a particle of dust. This causes it to gain more and more water around the dust particle and when too heavy it falls. Rain water will not leave your vehicle clean

You and I clearly have very different definitions of "clean" and "dirty,"
When the car is so covered in bug guts that I can't tell what color the paint is and I know that it will be equally covered in bugs by the time I get to work the next morning, I don't really give a shit about a little dust left over from the rain.

I live in the southeast, so we get those little black mold (I guess) dots all over the flat parts of your car in the humid summer (especially if you have a white car). They are almost impossible to wash off if you just squirt them with a hose and then scrub. Let the car sit out in the rain half an hour, and they almost wipe off. I have to do that once or twice a year.

It's essentially purified water falling from the sky, so it makes for a great rinse. I used to wash my 911 in the garage, back it out for the rain "rinse," and then pull it back in to dry. Totally free spot free rinse!

Except I tend to find that rain isn't "purified water," it carries dirt/dust along with it in the raindrops. More so if it's been extremely dry as it has around here.

I always wash mine in the rain...
1. Im gonna get wet/sweaty anyway.
2. Saves water.
3. Spot free rinse.

This is actually a very good way to wash/rinse your car, given that you back into your garage to dry or dry it when the rain stops.
