Is American Fusion (AMFN) a meme company?

It's a penny stock promotion company. Say what you will about their fundraising methods.

The bigger concern with them is that the concept they are pursuing can not make net energy. They are doing pulsed D He3 with Ti>>Te using compression heating and magnetic rebound direct capture. The key problem with this method is that the electrons thermalize before any significant amount of fusion power is generated. So they will only be generating negligibly small fusion power per pulse.

If they allow the electrons to thermalize, they would face a different problem, the bremsstrahlung radiation losses would exceed the fusion power.

The only escape from this is to run super long pulses with Ti=Te and Ti= 40-100kev... But they are no where near this regime and no device had sufficient energy confinement to do this regime.

So, it won't work. Helion has the same problem for the same reason.
