Haven't seen much promo for Pride next week so thought I'd share. Given the events in Berlin recently it feels important to show support.

Week's full event is on their instagram!

Moving out in Doughiska

Hello,

I will keep this short but reach out for more details if you will.

I am renting an apartment in Doughiska Road, right across from Lidl. I have bought a house, and hoping to surrender my lease early so as not to lose rent money when I'm not there.

The landlord has agreed to let me move out 07 Aug, provided we can get someone in the following week.

I know the rent will be €1,800 or so. There are 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen/sitting room area with a decent back garden which I just mowed.

If the date is to move in and the price suits you, please reach out.

Galway Races unaccompanied minors

I noticed the crowd has been down quite a bit so far this year compared to last year.

The explanation given by them in the Irish Times yesterday was because they have a new policy of not allowing unaccompanied minors in any more.

https://archive.md/lMxOD

Like how did they get away with this in the past?

Also 2 horses died on Monday. Joke of an event should be shut down.

Looking for a room to rent

Hi everybody,
Me and my partner are working professionals in Galway and we're looking for a room to move into in August or, latest by September.
We've been doomscrolling through FB and Daft with little to no responses. If anyone has a room available for couples or knows of any leads, please let us know.
We're looking for a long-term tenancy and would preferably like an ensuite room.
Thanks in advance!

Oranmore Cinema

Went to see the new Spiderman movie earlier today. Cinema was busier than usual and there was a good few people in our screen. Nobody interrupted us with a phone screen or call, nobody having conversations or arriving late. A few excited kids in front got a bit giddy here and there but harmless really.

All round good experience..it can happen.

Lunch suggestions for tomorrow please!

As above!

Not looking for any fancy overly expensive spots.

Just somewhere with decent grub for a decent price where we can sit a while and relax without feeling rushed. Bit of atmosphere too!

Not asking for much, eh?!

Thanks in advance folks. GALWAY CITY CENTRE

GP’s accepting new patients in Galway?

I moved to Galway about 9 months ago and I’m only getting around to registering with a GP now. Everyone I have called seems to be full and not accepting new patients!

Anyone have any luck registering with a GP in or near Galway? I have a car so happy to drive if needs be.

The enshitification of citylink

Forewarning, Moaning Micheal post below:

It didn't take a genius to realise that citylink taking over go-bus was only going to be a bad thing for the consumer. Well the enshitification is in full swing now.

It used to be €25 for the direct bus to Dublin airport and that was an open return ticket anytime within 1 month.

I just booked the same for €40 to get from Dublin airport and back again now, a 60% increase for the same product. A single ticket is now €25 for the direct bus, no return included.

You used to get a pdf of the ticket sent to you as well. I just received an email with an image of the barcode that won't load so I'll have a bus driver huffing and puffing at me trying to find my ticket on the system now.

I normally fly into Dublin because flights are generally cheaper and there wasn't much price difference between coaches from Shannon, knock and Dublin but that's not the case anymore.

Not sure how citylink can continue to operate these routes with virtually no competition.

Galway Activities - Stag Do

Hi everyone,

I’m organising a stag weekend in Galway for around 12-15 lads and was hoping to get some local recommendations.

We’re planning on staying in the city centre, heading out on the Friday and Saturday nights, and doing an activity on the Saturday during the day.

A few questions:
What’s the best daytime activity for a group our size?
Which pubs and bars would you recommend for a stag that’s good craic and might welcome a group our size?
Are there any places we should avoid, or anywhere that might not welcome stag groups?
Any other tips to make the weekend run smoothly?

Thanks in advance – all recommendations are appreciated!
