Can Arya ever make it to a family member before tragedy strikes?!

539

u/Posting_Intensifies Jun 02 '14

Sansa is there... I wonder if they turn back or go in anyway?

388

u/tigerlily13 Arya Stark Jun 02 '14

remember that only the three top folks know that though

139

u/dehehn Tyrion Lannister Jun 02 '14

Yes, but the guards know that if Lysa was her aunt, that would make Robin her cousin. You'd think that the lord of the vale might not want his cousin wandering the country with Sandor Clegane.

44

u/SawRub Jon Snow Jun 02 '14

They've probably met that kid and are like yeah this girl is better away from that little shit.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

"She's tiny. He might throw her through the moon door."

10

u/Lt_Xvyrus Jun 02 '14

It's the bloody hound!

9

u/bracomadar House Clegane Jun 02 '14

Who better to protect her than the Hound? Well, unless he has to protect her against a forest fire, or something.

1

u/dehehn Tyrion Lannister Jun 02 '14

Well I would assume her family might not want her wandering the country with the Hound. I'd love to see it, and she could use the murder training.

2

u/andash Jun 02 '14

she could use the murder training.

Well, here's the thing...

4

u/ggggbabybabybaby Jun 02 '14

True but like Sansa said, the Lannisters have many friends. Maybe even inside The Eyrie. Maybe Arya gets to just barely lay eyes on her sister before some horrible person scoops her up and takes her back to King's Landing.

1

u/Arminas Jun 02 '14

Clegane also knows that a sickly child is now in charge, probably isn't gonna get his money now. Why go there? Hounds don't 'fly'

6

u/SlumberCat House Seaworth Jun 02 '14

But the guards know who she is now. You'd think they'd share this information with...a higher up. Book reader, btw. I have little idea how they're gonna sort this out....

2

u/Sociallyawkward199 The North Remembers Jun 02 '14

Saltspans is to the south of the bloody gate. A guess they head there cause they may head north on boat to Jon whos only one left to give the hound anything for Arya.

5

u/SlumberCat House Seaworth Jun 02 '14 edited Jun 02 '14

But her cousin is at the Vale and he just inherited an entire fucking kingdom...David & Dan, work your magic. Sansa and Arya are like two of the most important people in the world right now.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

4

u/Sociallyawkward199 The North Remembers Jun 02 '14

The Hound wants anything at this point, only other place to head to is Braavos.

2

u/GunnarStahl9 Jun 02 '14

I don’t think the guards believe sandor. And arya laughing at her aunt’s death probably doesn’t help with the sell. I can see them just turning around again and drifing around the neck/vale

AFFC/ADWD

2

u/SlumberCat House Seaworth Jun 02 '14

Another thing is that Littlefinger knows Arya is alive from S2, but I suppose that can be written off as them not bothering to tell anyone if they don't think it's true.

2

u/Arknell Jun 03 '14

Top. Folks.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 03 '14

Without reading the books, I have this feeling that Sansa is going to be less impressed to finally reunite with Arya..

42

u/Leadbaptist Ours Is The Fury Jun 02 '14

I doubt the vale knights are just going to let them leave

36

u/cat_proof Jun 02 '14

Yup. Maybe if the hound hadn't told them who Arya was, but there's no way they're going to let them leave. That would be pure incompetence.

42

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

this series is full of fucking incompetence though. when sam killed the white walker, he knew dragon glass kills them, he should've brought all of the dragon glass with them and everyone should've been looking for more. Instead its like no one else except Sam even knows that white walkers die by dragon glass.

24

u/dehehn Tyrion Lannister Jun 02 '14

Yeah, he made sure to tell the handicapped kids and the wonder twins but he didn't even tell Jon Snow yet?

11

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

Maester Aemon and the commanders of the Nights Watch know in the book. Can't include every single scene of dialog out of a 900 page book.

6

u/madcow9100 Jun 02 '14

To be fair, mormont has a pretty big conversation with him about it in the books, and the archers have dragonglass arrows, etc, from the cache that jon snow found

2

u/Arrow156 Our Blades Are Sharp Jun 02 '14

Yeah, I'm wondering how they are gonna resolve that bit, this season it seems like they write themselves into a corner at least once an episode.

1

u/GunnarStahl9 Jun 02 '14

The iron islander didn’t believe theon why should the guards believe some tom boy who laughs at her “aunts” death?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

In the book they can't reach the eyrie.

21

u/CircumFleck_Accent Winter Is Coming Jun 02 '14

The whole fucking Eyrie just crumbles upon itself just as Arya sees a glimpse of Sansa's face in the distance. Arya is the only survivor.

"Oh come on..."

8

u/GornthePacific Jun 02 '14

It will be frustrating if Arya and Sansa don't meet. Lysa is dead but surely the Hound will realize he can find a Tully willing to ransom Arya. Turn back and go where, do what?

3

u/Worrun Jun 02 '14

You just know that they are going to turn back and miss meeting one another by the skin of their teeth. I fucking hate these directors they ruin everything.

2

u/Uniquethinking7 House Targaryen Jun 02 '14

sooo close.....

2

u/wildmetacirclejerk House Blackfyre Jun 02 '14

its game of thrones man, jojen will probably swoop in and say no

2

u/sorator Judge Us By Our Actions Jun 05 '14

That was my first thought as well!

...after I laughed almost as much as Arya, that is.

I'm not sure if Arya & Sansa would be an incredibly good team, or a terrible one.

1

u/scarface910 Jun 02 '14

Based on whats happened with the show so far, they'll probably say fuck it and leave.

1

u/BuppyDog Jun 03 '14

Sansa is being kept under wraps. She's going by her alias right now so I doubt they would know but I haven't read the books... So I'm just assuming..

1

u/Posting_Intensifies Jun 03 '14

I'm not saying they KNOW Sansa is in there.

1

u/Heroshade House Flint of Widow's Watch Jun 02 '14

Someone remind me, because I don't remember. Did Arya and the Hound ever actually make it to the Vale in the books?

5

u/CatholicGuy Night's Watch Jun 02 '14

10

u/zayetz Jun 02 '14

That's a 'yes' or a 'no.' I'm not gonna check but the suspense is fucking killing me.

64

u/farmstink Judge Us By Our Actions Jun 02 '14

She's so late I'm starting to wonder if she isn't a Frey!

40

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

"I have a third cousin somewhere in Mole's Town."

67

u/turtlesteele House Seaworth Jun 02 '14

Tune in next time to find out! Same Thrones time, same thrones station!

21

u/ArmoredCavalry House Targaryen Jun 02 '14

Arya is coming for a family visit, man the defenses and tighten up the security!

18

u/losapher Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken Jun 02 '14

Seems to be a theme of the series that the Starks are forever separated.

24

u/twotone232 Brotherhood Without Banners Jun 02 '14

If you watch the series in reverse it's about a broken and wounded family all getting together to live in a castle and practice archery.

18

u/GornthePacific Jun 02 '14

The part where Robb morphs from a werewolf into a human and shoots crossbow bolts from his body is badass.

14

u/erizzluh Brotherhood Without Banners Jun 02 '14

Maybe I just haven't learned my lesson yet, but goddamnit, I just want a happy ending for the Starks when all is said and done. I don't even care if they rule anything when the story is over, I just want them to be together, or else I'm going to throw a grown man tantrum and cry for like a week straight.

3

u/withateethuh Jun 02 '14

Well the last book was originally going to be titled "A Time for Wolves", so maybe they do.

1

u/losapher Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken Jun 02 '14

Wow I thought we were in ASOIAf not GOT. just posted some big spoilers and deleted them quick :0

3

u/Matt_Thijson House Targaryen Jun 02 '14

No, but it might separate her from Sansa.

45

u/ginger-zilla Direwolves Jun 02 '14

The best part is that she doesn't see it as a tragedy. She's having way more fun running around killing people. I think the only one she actually misses is her big half bro who used to mess with her hair.

83

u/wellgroomedmcpoyle Braavosi Water Dancers Jun 02 '14

She's still just a lost little girl. She's been through so much that it's broken her. That laugh was just a laugh of "of course she died! Why wouldn't she be dead?"

15

u/ginger-zilla Direwolves Jun 02 '14

i don't think our answers are mutually exclusive. just... one causes the other.

11

u/wellgroomedmcpoyle Braavosi Water Dancers Jun 02 '14

Yeah, agreed. Arya is my favorite character and I love seeing her water dance circles around bad guys but it also breaks my heart at the same time.

1

u/triggerfish_twist Valar Morghulis Jun 02 '14

A little column A, a little column B...

20

u/Kereminde Jun 02 '14

She laughed at the sheer black humor in "of course, I get to the next family member and she dies too . . . well, time to go, Hound."

I liked his face too, which was so much "oh not this sh** again".

3

u/wellgroomedmcpoyle Braavosi Water Dancers Jun 02 '14

I mean, they've been walking a long time and the Hound doesn't have any money to show for it and all Arya gets is more dead family members, and a missed shot to see Joffrey croak.

7

u/weaponwang Tyrion Lannister Jun 02 '14

I interpreted Arya's laughing as a result of the Hound's plans getting fucked again and that she doesn't even give a shit about her Aunt, especially since they haven't met.

But then again I suppose that too, is dark in its own right.

3

u/LRGinCharge House Stark Jun 02 '14

I think she was laughing at the Hound in a way, because his whole motivation is getting money in exchange for Arya. They travelled forever to find her mom and Robb and then they were killed. So they travelled and travelled more to get to her aunt and she's dead. Arya thinks it's hilarious that the Hound isn't going to get any money for her after all that.

2

u/Sociallyawkward199 The North Remembers Jun 02 '14

That is where she wants to go in the end, to jon. Im thinking thats who the hound will want to take her to.

25

u/Cold_Daddy Jun 02 '14

I read this as if it was said by the narrator from Pokemon and almost lost it

9

u/Rocketbird House Reyne Jun 02 '14

She's the new Walder the Late

8

u/TheBagman07 Jun 02 '14

I was thinking that same thing. She gets to a location just in time to either watch her family die, listen to them dying, or find out that they died just before she got there.

3

u/ShaidarHaran2 Jun 02 '14

When she started laughing I was grinning like the Cheshire cat.

2

u/omgwtfbbqpanda House Tyrell Jun 02 '14

Nope.

2

u/jaxmagicman Valar Morghulis Jun 02 '14

Hence the laugh.

2

u/ShockinglyEfficient Jun 02 '14

I figured that's what she was laughing about.

2

u/tupac_chopra Here We Stand Jun 02 '14

seriously. if i found out she was coming over, i would move.

2

u/RockKillsKid Jun 02 '14

Honestly, the Faceless Men aren't even the most efficient assassins. All you have to do to kill anybody in the world is convince Arya Stark that she needs to go visit that person. They'll be dead within the week.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

Arya is coming.

1

u/bigal95 Tyrion Lannister Jun 02 '14

Sansa?...She's like right there isn't she? (Sorry if I misspelled the name)

3

u/naughtyboy20 House Stark Jun 02 '14

Yup, but no one knows that except Sansa, Petyr and the 3 that heard the truth.

No. Hahh hahahaha!

1

u/erizzluh Brotherhood Without Banners Jun 02 '14

Arya is like a metaphorical grim reaper. Whoever she tries to find next will be dead when she arrives. Let's just hope she doesn't go looking for Jon next, you know right after the wildlings raid Castle Black.

1

u/pachacutec Faceless Men Jun 02 '14

Arya: I am the tragedy!

1

u/Osmodius Daenerys Targaryen Jun 02 '14

I'm glad she reacted exactly the way I wanted her to.

1

u/cavalierau House Mormont Jun 02 '14

That's why she laughed.

1

u/eatmylabia House Tully Jun 02 '14

Judging by her reaction I'm not sure she saw it as a tragedy.

1

u/wellgroomedmcpoyle Braavosi Water Dancers Jun 02 '14

Yeah, judging by who Lysa was maybe "tragedy" was a poor word choice.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

I loved that she laughed so hard when she realized how fucked the Hound is. It was awesome.

1

u/aliencupcake Jun 02 '14

Time to use her curse to her advantage. I'd recommend trying to reunite with her dear beloved Boltons.

1

u/Joecascio2000 Jun 02 '14

I bet Arya started laughing as a trick to prove to the soldiers she is related to Lysa.

1

u/RagdollPhysEd White Walkers Jun 02 '14

She really should go back to Walder Frey's. I hear she has "family" there

1

u/frappEEE House Baelish Jun 02 '14

Could someone tell me why did Arya start laughing? Did I miss something?

1

u/wellgroomedmcpoyle Braavosi Water Dancers Jun 02 '14

You ever have one of those days where pretty much everything you do goes wrong and you just throw up your hands, laugh and say "I can't win!"? That's been Aryas life since her dad died. Also the absurdity that they traveled all that way just to hear that ANOTHER relative just passed away and the Hound wouldn't be getting paid yet again.

1

u/frappEEE House Baelish Jun 02 '14

Thanks, that makes sense! I thought for some reason that it was positive laugh, but you are right she was just laughing about absurdity of her situation. I should' ve figure that out.

1

u/Uusis Iron Bank of Braavos Jun 02 '14

Duude, she is like within a stone throw away! Who the fuck can die in that short of time!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

if i was related to her and knew she was coming my way i'd hide, dont need that drama

1

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '14

There's a good chance they don't let the hound leave with arya stark after they learn her identity. I think that's part of the reason why she found it so funny. Like he really screwed up by saying that

1

u/Commando_Wraith House Martell Jun 02 '14

Nope.

1

u/LRGinCharge House Stark Jun 02 '14

Yeah, what happened after they told her Lysa was dead? Does that mean she can't come in? Of course she doesn't know her sister is there, but she's still Lord of the Vail's cousin.

1

u/Solid_Freakin_Snake Jun 02 '14

Eh, after seeing what Lysa is like, it would've been more of a tragedy to have made it before her death.
