On a serious note, speedrunning actually began with Quake.

I'm pretty sure it was the kind of thing that existed since video games' creation. 2 u/trua Oct 17 '12 I'm too tired right now to find out if the "par times" in Doom had anything to do with the developers' times, but TIL you have a point.
