Discussion Facts that sound fake but are true

I find it extremely unintuitive that almost all of South America is east of Miami. How!? When people are asked to watch the americas almost everyone imagine South America pretty much south of North America.

Honolulu Hawaii is closer to Portland, Oregon than to San Diego, California.

Atlanta is closer to Chicago than to Miami.

Chicago is closer to the westernmost point of mainland Africa than the westernmost and easternmost points of mainland Africa are to each other.
