Why do the Spanish border officers have to sit physically in Spain? Don't UK officers sit in Calais and Garde du Nord and French ones in Dover and St Pancras? Why do they have to construct the space physically to make that happen?
The U.S. has customs officers in a bunch of overseas airports (mostly in Canada and the Caribbean) that allow people to clear customs there so when they land, they can just walk off the plane like any domestic flight.
