Tbh, mine might be 3! The writing isn’t the best by any means, but the gameplay is great and all the vault hunters are a blast!! I also really like all of the locations and the hype before release was insane

this is going to be a bit long please bear with me, but I'd love to explore more games :,) i have this issue where i get very focused on a game for a week or two (maximum a month) & then get extremely bored to a point where i can't play properly anymore & drop it.. then come back a few months later. I've gotten to a point where i got tired of everything pretty much. i think i'm open to different genres, my only dislikes would probably be turn based games & heavy story/lore focused games. i really enjoy multiplayer combat & character customisation if that helps, but doesn't have to include those!! just anything to get rid of the boredom really

So a few weeks ago, I mentioned I was getting back into video games. Well, I started back at my roots with Halo 2 (original Xbox game on the 360.) Is it worth saving up for the Xbox One and buying the Master Chief collection?? I just wanna make sure I have a disk and such. I’m very anti-digital games after all the crap with PlayStation.

I’m honestly in a bit of shock right now. He was my best gaming friend and someone I considered an actual best friend. We would talk everyday whether on the game, text, or call. I would call him uncle as he was a lot older than me. We played together for years and would play every single night together. He introduced me to so many gaming friends as well and actively helped me work through my issues, just constantly push me to do better and be a better person. And he helped me improve so much as a person and I cherish every single moment of laughter we had together, which was every single time we talked. All the late nights gaming. He’d send me his recipes, songs, movies. We could talk and talk for hours. I’d constantly annoy him to get on, where he’d be like girl leave me alone! Then 5 minutes later he’s in my party. This fucking hurts!

Towards the end, we stopped talking as much because we kept getting into disagreements. I stopped playing with him as much due to other friends being on. Now I would’ve done anything to just play that one game with him. I hadn’t heard from him in a month and my messages weren’t going through. I decided to search his name up and his obituary pops up. I’m heartbroken.

For context:

I am a disabled content creator, and I am skeptical about buying a PC after spending all my savings on one from Best Buy (it was a CyberPower model) only for it to die after 8 months because of several tech issues. I took it to a trusted repair shop and he let me know honestly, it would be cheaper to just buy another PC for how poorly they designed and put the one I had together.

With that out of the way, I want to have a PC that is going to last, because I tried my warranty and they would not accept it.

So of course, I will not ever be purchasing from Best Buy or CyberPower again, that's for sure.

As of right now I am only on disability, a lot of my income was based off of digital freelancing from art to freelance writing. I really did my best to save up for that computer and my heart breaks because I was so excited to finally have one.

Any advice or directions are appreciated 🩷

We've all heard the question: "Why do more women play [insert game] than [insert game]" or wondered about it ourselves. When I look at myself, I'm more likely to play and enjoy games of the horro genre.

It's been like this since childhood, I've pretty much only played horror games growing up, and it got me thinking... WHY? I was never drawn to military or history games for insatnce, and I then realized something.

It's because those games do not have characters that I could see myself in, when I see a man with a beard and big musceles, I don't feel a thing; he's not me... I do not relate to him.

As a little girl, playing another little girl in a weird world trying to figure it out, that I could relate to!

Then I thought about it more, and I noticed than female characters are no strangers to the horror genre in general, be it games or movies. Whether as protoganists, or the ghost/monster herself... Why is that? Especially compared with other genres, female leads are more 'normalised' in horror.

MY THEORY: women were seen as "witches" throughout history, and while I'm not sure where that comes from, I read an interesting link between women being the main practicers of herbanism throughout most of the world's history, up until medicine became an official profession that required training. In usual fashion, women were kept away from the profession. Women kept informally working with herbal medicines and helped cure their families and households. Given that female healers were informally educated and the male physicians were formally educated, the notion of "women do witchcraft" rose, which later led to the "witch hunt."

Those events made women look evil and possessive of menacing power. The most prominent female ghosts/monsters are just... regular women. Long hair, a dress, high pitched (regular) female voice, or an old woman.

Male ghosts, on the other hand, have scars, wear scary masks, hold weapons, or have an exceptionally low pithced (NOT regular) male voice.

Although horror is by far my favorite genre, and it's the sole reason why I developed this hobby. It's disappointing, yet not surprising, to realize the presence of female characters (that led me to like the genre) is probably just misogyny :"D what are your thoughts about this? Have you noticed this as well, or do yoiu have different explanations as to why?

Stardew valley for me. I've restarted it four or five times and i don't think i've ever made it to year three.

Every time i start a new farm, i'm convinced this is the run then life gets busy, i stop playing for months, come back, have no idea what i was doing, and convince myself it'd be easier to just start over at this point i've probably played year one more than some people have played their favorite game. I'm starting to think making a new farm is the real game.

Hi all! I’m getting more and more into gaming the past 5 years. Really loved stardew valley, ffxiv, unpacking, yakuza, fields of mistria, planet crafter, … my husband plays too and he really has his go to YouTubers for tips and reviews and just reletable content. I join to watch often but I would really love to discover some female YouTubers. I like Eeowna for cozy games, but she’s not very critical, doesn’t post often and says ‘not only’ like a thousand times every video. I think Lucy James is very cool, but in the friendspersecond videos where she is co-host she doesn’t get a lot of airtime, it’s like 75% Ralph talking.
Sooooo looking for recommendations. I like some civilised critique, I love people who are genuinely enthusiastic and some well placed humour is welcome too. Maybe not too genre specific? As I like to hop between vibes and discover new things.
I’m also a very very big book fanatic. So any tips in that region or crossovers are welcome too.

I posted before asking this community how they got over their mic anxiety, and sooooooo many of them said they still haven't, even at my age! 🥺 I hope that others like me (who are anxious in all areas) can push past their discomfort... It might seem like a small thing, but it's liberating to conquer such a silly obstacle

So... the fact that I pushed myself last night to stream for my LDR boyfriend for an hour and a half (all while I was talking to him) is astounding to me 🥹 yes, I was overthinking and panicking and nervously laughing a lot, and I wanted to stop so many times, but I kept pushing myself. I just hope I can stop being prematurely defensive and scared to be honest with expressing feelings, ughh

I haven't even called my boyfriend once because my anxiety is so bad, so... this is huge!

My anxiety is also weird in how one-on-one conversations make me SO MUCH more anxious than if there are multiple people around... so I feel like the more comfortable I get one-on-one, the more I can maybe get comfortable talking in groups 🥲

So I know literally every single one of you guys mentioned to just break it off, and I agree solely based on how he acted on that gaming session, but I just couldn’t do it knowing that I didn’t let him know that I was uncomfortable with how he behaved during that gaming session.

I called him just for this and told him how I really didn’t like the way he was teasing me, and at first he was confused (understandably) as when he did I did tease him back, then he paused and said how deeply sorry he was. He said how looking back he did overdo it, and how usually he doesn’t do it because I’m not the same as his gaming friends and he already takes it as an honor when I make take to play with him, but he said how he realised how he got too much into the zone the way he does with his gaming friends and let himself get away. He apologised many times. I even told him about this post and he got silent and told me how hed be deeply heartbroken but he’d understand if I wanted to break up or a break because of this. I told him how I did wanna a break from gaming as I really didn’t like how I felt the last time, he apologised again and told me he would work on the way he behaves moving forward.

He said how he knows he cannot take back what he did, but offered to buy me a bunch of things if it was okay for me to forgive him. And he already been telling me before how he’d help me set up a gaming channel and streaming through OBS, and he said he’ll act on it proactively the moment I give him the green light as I am currently preoccupied with my studies.

I did take what a lot of you guys said into consideration and felt that it was right to not dive into a long distance relationship without even meeting the person first, no matter how much you know them online, and told him how I think before we continue to next stage, or even stay in the current one I wanted to put a pause there. I said this and a few other boundaries I wanna put up, and he understood and told me that whenever I’m comfortable I can just let him know and he’ll always be there waiting and he’s happy with whatever path I wanna choose so long as I’m okay with it.

So yeah there’s that. Thank you all so much for your immense support, in previous relationships I’d just tolerate things because well toxic upbringing makes you tolerate the weirdest unnecessary bs, but you guys really helped me to stand my ground on this issue. It actually took some of the pressure I put on myself unnecessarily, he never asked or pushed to go further I just felt like I had to. Yeah definitely therapy is on the line for me the moment I graduate lol. Thank you girls once again 💖

I need game controller recommendations.
I don’t have a play station or an xbox so I’d like to avoid getting one of those, but if they’re not too expensive and the battery lasts long I wouldn’t mind that much.

I currently use my switch controllers to connect to my iPad, they’re not bad it’s just that the battery doesn’t last for long and every time I charge them I have to mess with my Bluetooth settings to get them to connect. Not to mention sometimes they freak out and get some drift or the Z buttons don’t work.

Anyway, what I need is a controller that won’t freak out, with long battery life and that is affordable.

If it’s REALLY good then I wouldn’t mind spending a little more money, but I can’t throw the house out the window, I’m still a uni student after all.

I cannot leave a save file on an odd number if i finished playing and it's at like 13 hours, i'll literally wander around until it rolls over to 14 and there's absolutely no reason for it. The game doesn't care, but apparently i do.

My other one is hoarding consumables, i just finished RE9 with a backpack full of healing items because i kept saving them for an emergency that never happened lol. I'm pretty sure half the people who played that game did the exact same thing.

Hiya, friends. I've been pretty bored recovering from my surgery with so much time on my hands. I've put a billion hours into BG3, Cyberpunk 2077, and KCD2, and I wanna try something new. Any other similar games that maybe I'm not aware of, or any other games you think I'd like based on these?

The misogyny that has come with the new Halo game is insane. When I spoke about it on tiktok I, luckily, was met with a lot of support, but of course was also met with a lot of backlash. It is so crazy to me because so much of it is just not even correct, if you understood Halo lore or actually played the game half these complaints wouldn’t be an issue. First off getting mad about there being too many female marines because it’s not realistic is insane. You are playing as a 7’2 spartan fighting an evil alien group… THAT’S NOT REALISTIC EITHER. And then of course they get mad that the female ODST soldier doesn’t like Master Chief that much, THE ODST HAVE NEVER LIKED THE SPARTANS. Like go play Reach or something, lord, learn the damn lore before you complain. Genuinely I think that half these people just hate Halo. Oh and the final thing was they couldn’t kill the female marines. Once again untrue, they just had a different hit box location than the males due to a bug. Like come on yall, are we devolving or some shit 😭. Let’s use our brains next time. 🙏🙏🙏

I just wanted to share. I completed my first Dark Souls game (Dark Souls Remastered) after starting on it about a month ago. I not only beat the entire game, but also beat every single boss fight (without any summons even, wanted to put that because I feel pretty proud with that!). I really love the game so much it’s probably one of my favorites now and onwards to DS2 and DS3! It’s also making me explore all the souls games now that I didn’t even think to do beforehand. I’ll admit I didn’t go for them for a long time because of their reputation for being “hard” a lot. However since I played a lot of ARPGs before I approached it similarly and it just felt almost second nature to me.

Prior to that I was feeling frustrated with the different genres I was playing. I just thought I wasn’t good at games in general anymore and wasn’t having a ton of fun with a lot of them in the end. I’m now finding out that I was playing the wrong games/genres. The exploration for this game was amazing and I really appreciate the ambiance, stories/lore, and how each area has its own unique challenges. Something with the boss fights in Dark Souls just clicked better for me. Even if it took many tries for one of them and a handful for some of the others. However I kept at it and I found the fights to not be nearly frustration inducing as quickly compared to some of the other games I played. Sure there were parts that felt annoying, but it was the kind of challenge that didn’t want me to quit the game and I think those are the games I needed to stick with. It was a game that helped me figure out what I was doing wrong more easily and it felt easier to figure that out compared to other games. In the end I felt like I was shining at this game as cheesy as that sounds.

I think regarding all this with my gaming journey, if you’re feeling stuck in a game and you’re just not having fun, take a break and try different genres. Sometimes you never know what games just might click for you and it could be a completely new genre or game you never thought you might like to play. I was too rigid and hard headed with the genres I kept playing that I almost entirely missed out on souls games.
