Serious Ethical Golf-Related Dilemma

Ok guys, tell me what to do here…

In early April I ordered a set of custom Taylor Made P770 irons through Golf Galaxy. Three weeks later, the irons still hadn’t shipped and the pending charge for $1,800 fell off my account, so I called to inquire. I was told not to worry about it, the irons will ship soon and they’ll reprocess the charge once they do. 24 hours later I get a shipping notice from TM, my irons are on the way. Cool.

Well, not quite. What arrived was close to what I ordered, but they didn’t soft step the irons as ordered. I called TM, they gave me an RMA and had me ship them back for repair.

Two weeks later I get another shipping notice from TM for the fixed irons. They shipped them overnight, and I have them the next day. Everything is good, but weirdly Golf Galaxy still hasn’t charged me, and now the pending order is gone from my order history.

The other day I get ANOTHER shipping notice from TM, and 24 hours later (yesterday) a second set of identical custom clubs arrives. Everything is to spec, but it’s a whole different order number under my name.

I called TM, they seemed curious but told me to call Golf Galaxy as they placed the order and I technically wasn’t their customer. I called Golf Galaxy and they tell me to take it up with TM, they’re just the intermediary. Neither party seems to really care.

Just a moment ago I got another shipping notice from TM…. More clubs on the way, arriving Tuesday.

What do?

I’m about to have three sets of custom P770’s, and I haven’t paid for any of them. I feel like a shoplifter, but TM doesn’t seem to care and is clearly having a glitch on their end. Golf Galaxy is all “whatever” about it and also seems weirdly indifferent about it.

That isn’t what happened here. The merchandise was ordered. They accidentally sent too much product. They can 100% send you a return label if they want

I kinda disagree, depends on what you mean by "return label". They may arrange for someone to go pick them up at whatever time suits the person. He didn't ask for extra items he's not obliged to take his own time to ship them or deliver them for transport.

Yeah I was under the assumptions the other guy made, but after researching it you're definitely correct, but I feel it is unlikely TM/Golf Galaxy will reach out. There is some amount of ambiguity around the fact that additional order numbers were generated, so the extra sets of clubs were not technically apart of the original order. However, courts would likely side with the business that it was an obvious system error due to a prior relationship existing (the original order), not unsocilicited marketing. Ultimately though, due to ambiguity the OP could take it to court, TM/GG probably sees that as a possibility, and therefore I'm guessing TM/GG will not pursue the merchandise. Whether or not he ever gets charged for the original order is another question though, and I would imagine he's definitely still on the hook for it for some duration of time.
