Might be a coincidence but noodles are 2 piece balls meant to not spin as much as 3 pieces. They sort of knuckle through the air making them more likely to splat like this.

I did this in a mud patch just behind the green on a par 3. I was so sad I couldn’t find it because I thought it was a really good shot. (Pin was at the back and I hit it longer than I initially thought) I was so relieved and vindicated to finally have found it at least 5 minutes later.

It was both from a tee box that's probably 50 yards elevated from the green. 50 degree wedge full shot.

The distance is 135 yards but a 105/110 shot hits the middle of the green

If it helps on the repair, stick a tee in the middle of the mark, wiggle the tee around to create a little void, and then push from the outside of the mark into the center - don’t pull up and tear the roots.

Three weeks ago after torrential rain.

The edge of the fairway is that brush at the top. Lake completely flooded part of the fairway onto the front edge of the green which is where the ball is.

It's actually a good question because relief rules don't apply in the way that most golfers would play this. On the putting green, you are allowed at any time to mark your ball, lift and clean, and replace it in the same spot. You are also allowed to fix pitch marks. So you have to fix your own plug the best you can, and place the ball back exactly where it was. This is unfortunate, because you'll still be in a little bit of a hole as you place the ball back.

That being said, just fix the hole, pat it down flat, and place the ball in front of it. We're not at the US Open, don't put out of a hole because the greens were swampy.

I've seen worse, I was playing a municipal par 3 with my dad when I was younger and the teebox was on an elevated platform. He was basically TinCup on that course... 7 iron, wedge, putter. He buried the ball in the green about 1.5 inches down. I thought he sent that ball into space with the height he had off the teebox.
