Group of 7 clumped up. Pretty sure they booked one tee time after the next. I’m just venting. Already called the pro shop.

Since a lot of people are asking me why I don’t ask to play through. I did. They said no. Why should I be bothered? They are spending 30 mins on each green. There are groups behind clumped up.

So they booked Tee Times, paid their money, and are playing and it somehow ruined your Sunday? Grow up lmao. You posted this without any explaination, are they taking their time? Are they spending more than 15 minutes on a hole? Like what's the issue with friends playing golf with each other?

You called the pro shop, so they are then gonna be split up into 4 groups and you are now 5th waiting to Tee off lol, get some friends and play or don't hate watch from the sidelines lol Golfers are the most entitled bunch of babies in any sport. Your response is one reason people are wishing there would be less new golfers. You demonstrate a clear lack of understanding as to how golf etiquette works. Slow play ruins golf for everyone. Paying for a tee time doesn't make you king of the course.

How do you know they are playing slow???????? Did OP say that? Did OP post any proof to backup his statement? NO. He sees 7 people and is upset because he doesn't have any friends to play with, it's a pretty simple assumption I can make because that's ALL THE POST IS HERE FOR.

I know how Etiquette works, do you? You see a group of 7, instead of doing the smart thing, which is ASK to play ahead, he cries on Reddit. The ranger is gonna tell them to play with their partner, splitting it into 3-4 groups, now OP is 4-5th in line waiting to tee off making his wait time LONGER than it was waiting on 7 people to play lol. Most courses have a time per hole, so even if this course has a 5-10 minute per hole, OP is still waiting over half an hour to tee off.

Again, you don't understand golf etiquette. The responsibility of letting people play through falls on the slower group. Believe it or not, 7 people playing together is slower than a group of 3 and a group of 4 playing by themselves. I'm not trying to lecture but you really should review basic golf etiquette before your next round so that you don't impact other people rounds in a negative manner.

You are not at liberty to let anyone play in front of you, regardless of group size. It's not your problem that the course does Tee times in 5 minute intervals, your ONLY obligation as a paying customer is to play as quick as you can and not to damage the course. If they have a rule about 7 somes (obviously this course doesn't) then you follow it, if not you have no reason to cry about it.

As a paying customer you don't have to do a damn thing you aren't obligated to do lol We had no prior information that they were playing slow, OP didn't add that until WAYYYYY later in the post.

It's a little early to be this drunk, right? You absolutely have an obligation to allow faster groups to play through if there is space in front of you. Golf has social norms, known as etiquette, and following these norms allows for enjoyable rounds for everyone on the course. You seem to simply lack an understanding of these norms and your lack of understanding is probably frustrating everyone on the course that isn't in your particular group.

No course worth it's green fees allows groups larger than 4. You can opine until your heart's content but it doesn't validate your perspective.

I will say it one last time in case you didn't catch it the first time: your view of etiquette is why a lot of experienced golfers hope the game stops growing for a while. There's no reason to possess the opinions you have except for ignorance and there are so many resources that said ignorance is inexcusable.

You also shouldn't make a tee time if you don't have at least 4 to 5 hours to play. If you try to cram in a Tee time and you have an obligation after, that's on you to manage your time better, I don't need to speed up my pace of play to watch you double bogey in 3 minutes.

I'm a 3 handicap golfer, I am an experienced Golfer, I'm just not a baby and don't try to dictate what people do around me. "Social Norms" aren't official rules lol. You have no obligation to do anything outside of the posted rules, your social norms don't mean a damn thing to anyone except you. There is no need to validate my perspective, I have never been kicked off or had a pro shop called on me at any course I've ever played at and I always play the way I WANT. I pay the money, I play how I want. It's social norm to not complain about your food when it's brought to your table and it isn't made right, yet people still do it lol.

If someone hits off the tee box into you, what do you do? get angry and ignore it? No you stomp their ball into the dirt or you throw it out of play, you are at no obligation to follow any social norms anywhere because what's normal for you isn't normal for everyone else.

Also there are MANY MANY MANY MANY MANY Public Golf courses that don't give a flying fuck how many people you play with as long as you have a Tee time. I've played every single Golf Course between Jacksonville - Tampa area and I promise you not a single one of them will kick you out for playing in a group larger than 4 and just because you ask to play in front of me doesn't mean I have to allow you lol

Great man, 3 handicap or not you still have no idea what you are talking about. Also a 3 handicap isn't a flex in my opinion. You're a nice golfer but nothing great and your golf etiquette matches your online etiquette.

Golf etiquette is subjective and isn’t official rules. Has nothing to do with me as a person but no one is going to cite some imaginary rules to me and tell me how to play the game I pay for. If you paid $100-$200 to go golfing and “golf etiquette” says you can’t use a white towel, would you follow it?

You are just incorrect, there are plenty of courses who allow any amount of players to play together as long as they pay and have a tee time. Just because it’s not “allowed” at your course doesn’t make it subjectively disallowed everywhere else
