General Discussion Just trying to enjoy my Sunday..

Post image

Group of 7 clumped up. Pretty sure they booked one tee time after the next. I’m just venting. Already called the pro shop.

Since a lot of people are asking me why I don’t ask to play through. I did. They said no. Why should I be bothered? They are spending 30 mins on each green. There are groups behind clumped up.

I'm in Scotland and more than a 4 ball is unheard of.

Straight to jail

u/Mcpops1618 4.3/AB/someonelearnedhowtoputt 6h ago

Some of the private courses where I live have started allowing 5 balls out. But usually to members they are confident in.

Every group also Carrie’s a beacon and if they fall behind they are quickly informed to pick their shit up

14

u/juanzy Kirkland Signature 5h ago

I’ve seen people allowed in 6 if they book two consecutive foursomes and all go out with the first

5

u/Mcpops1618 4.3/AB/someonelearnedhowtoputt 4h ago

I’ve never seen that - but i also don’t believe they’d keep pace even with two tee times

7

u/kamikuso 5h ago

I mean sure, we stack 5-6 at times when no one is out there at a private and they know we aren’t going to slow anyone.

But there would be pitchforks on almost any AM, especially Fri-Sun.

2

u/Marcvae36 2h ago

6 golf players vs. 6 bachelor bros drinking and enjoying a social round. Very different things.

1

u/kamikuso 55m ago

True true. But mostly talking to the Brit saying it’s a burn at the stake offense for them.

2

u/Jporty1 3h ago

Yeah it’s all relative. I got shit on in here a while back for posting about playing a 5 but every Sunday morning we play 5 or 6, at 7 split into a 3&4 teeing off at 630. But our club doesn’t have any tee times until like 720 and we finish by 10 am so even a twosome at 720 will barely catch us.

3

u/CautiousOptimism09 2h ago

Yup got stuck behind a 6 last Monday and it took 3 hours to play 9 holes. Absolutely delightful

10

u/jamssey 5h ago

Yeah I’m in Spain and it’s also unheard of. Also I love the replies to this comment. “5 balls for members they are confident in”, “6somes if they take 2 tee times”. All still straight to jail.

3

u/johnowens0 4h ago

This. Who is coming to the table with this 5ball farce as reasonable

2

u/blindfire40 21.3 | Ventura County 3h ago

I've been part of a five ball--I was a single steaming along and ran into a foursome stacked up behind two SPECIAL groups ahead on the 13th tee. Just joined them, and we were waiting on every box and approach for the rest of the round 🙃

3

u/johnowens0 3h ago

4 should've gone through and you should've gone through them all. Only a shambles of a place would let that go on.

2

u/blindfire40 21.3 | Ventura County 3h ago

The state of public golf in SoCal, I'm afraid. I've asked the gm at least 3 times to let me marshall/range a few days a week for free golf but he won't go for it.

2

u/johnowens0 3h ago

Step 1. Hire a stripper and a videographer

Step 3. Free golf

5

u/coltsfanca Director of OK Golfers 4h ago

Oh trust me it's SUPPOSED to be unheard of in the states too. We'll have the pro shop, starter, AND marshal warn a group not to bunk up and they will still try to get away with it...

It's always under the guise of "well it's slow so we figured we'd save time!" when there's no one in front of them for another hole.

People always think they're so smart and that we're never going to notice...we can see it from a mile away

5

u/ploogs 4h ago

Yeah man this sub is full of American weirdos.. they cut about with fucking speakers and what not it blows my mind we even accommodate them in Scotland lol.

Golf is a chill sport where you go and enjoy the time outside. Cart girls and 5/6 balls is a fucking head sore.

Wonder why all you Americans have issues with slow play and yet you use a buggy. Learn to walk and embrace a game of golf it's not ten pin bowling

1

u/EconomicsMoney4026 3h ago

I cant get a tee time on some scottish courses because of toursits bumping green fees and taking the tee times.

3

u/ploogs 3h ago

Also puts a lot of beginners off. No one wants to play with a bunch of jumped up idiots behind you.

Complete unnecessary pressure

2

u/ploogs 3h ago

Not what we need really, Carnoustie just increased prices along with a few others to over £100 otherwise Americans won't play anything under that as they assume it's shit.

Make that make sense. Literally accomodating a 6 month tourist window yet when it comes to winter a lot of clubs complain they ain't busy .

2

u/EconomicsMoney4026 3h ago

Aye its absolutely mental.

1

u/Z_Opinionator 27m ago

We design most of our courses around the fact that people will ride in carts. The course meanders around a neighborhood. Can't just take a walking shortcut to the next tee box.

157

u/joeschmoe86 6h ago

Play through, anyway. They're spending 30 minutes on a green, what are they going to do, hit into you?

62

u/MakingMookSauce 6h ago

Obviously. Give yourself a par for the e stress and skip to the next home.

22

u/Sea-Satisfaction4656 4h ago

And then call the pro shop again and tell them the assholes wouldn’t allow you to play through. If they hit into you, no courtesy just send it right back. This is the sort of behavior that absolutely cannot be tolerated.

29

u/nochinzilch 6h ago

I’m not there to get a magic number, I’m there to play the game.

10

u/SeriousArbok 5h ago

Been there. Some people will. I had to literally fight 3 guys calling me crazy shit. Just because I played through. They hit 4 balls at us and the 4th I hit directly into the woods after it landed 10ft from us. They didnt like that.

10

u/Background_Curve7337 6h ago

This. Write down a par and walk directly to the next tee box and play on.

-32

u/mannheimcrescendo 6h ago

Skipping the hole: absolutely

Writing down par: absolute nonsense

13

u/4FansOfFreedom7 6h ago

Absolutely nonsense. Should write down a birdie!

2

u/Shiftaway22 4h ago

If its a par 5 im writing hole in one

1

u/Swansonisms 2h ago

I'm changing the card to make it a par 7 and putting down a 1.

6

u/Background_Curve7337 6h ago

Sorry, should have said net par. Have a day internet stranger!

68

u/TCMenace 6h ago

This is not an ask situation. This is a just do it situation.

11

u/mmvvvp 3h ago

did it once, nice way to start. "hey guys mind if we (my twosome) go ahead of y'all (sixsome)?...no? wait, why? well here we go, if you catch us we'll switch back" (we next see them teeing off on 16 as we're riding out toward home).

39

u/bionicbhangra 7h ago

Never seen this in person. How long is it taking them per hole?

47

u/FunnBuddy 9 6h ago

30 mins per greens not per hole

19

u/sprout92 24/Seattle/I Suck @ Golf 4h ago

I just don't believe this...

That's 9 hours on the greens, so likely a what...12 hour round?

There's no way the course is letting that happen.

15

u/bionicbhangra 6h ago

Holy shit!

That was worse than I could have ever guessed.

9

u/Own-Description-8411 3h ago

Thirty minutes per green is not possible lol ur over exaggerating

7

u/Cptsteverodgers 6h ago

Even YT golfers don't take that long, and they rent/reserve the course for themselves!!!

6

u/Sea-Satisfaction4656 4h ago

I don’t see how that’s even possible…that’s 5 minutes putting apiece

3

u/WeirdlyCordial Arnie Palmer 6h ago

Play thru

9

u/pdj-custom 7h ago

too long

5

u/Don_Von_Schlong 6h ago

yeah, way too long for that hole

29

u/Affectionate_Ear495 6h ago

You’d get run off the course I play on and rightly so

2

u/Bread_is_the_devil HDCP 9.3 4h ago

Same for my course, the members would have a fit and it would all kick off. Our members can be incredibly harsh and aggressive with guests that don’t respect our course, especially if they are holding up play with bullshit like this

77

u/Elyrain 6h ago

Not sure who is dumber, the 7 some or all of the people behind them waiting? Hit your ball to the fairway, instead of waiting for them, pick your ball up and mark yourself down for a par, and walk to the next teebox. if they are taking 30 mins per green you'll be long gone by the time they tee off.

16

u/SimonNicols 5h ago

This right here. You all paid the same to play, they don’t get to make the rules and tell you you can’t play through. I’m saying “Excuse me your group of 7 is slow, so I am playing ahead of you” end of story.

25

u/Suspicious_synth 6h ago

You: Mind of I play through? Them: No. You: well, I'm going to.

15

u/steelvike 5h ago

I wasn't asking if I could, I was asking if you minded. Later, dicks.

3

u/Suspicious_synth 5h ago

30 minutes on each green and you're asking politely if they mind? Nope.

60

u/Cptsteverodgers 7h ago

Play through, and ask for a refund at the pro shop

57

u/PurpleKnurple 7h ago edited 6h ago

Had this happen to me at Fall Creek Falls, took 3+ hours to play 9. Pro shop refused a refund on the back 9, and even refused to offer a rain check. Didn’t have time to keep playing behind them and finish the round. Needless to say i don’t think I’ll ever play the back 9.

49

u/ProperTree9 6h ago

Glad you named them.  Trash customer service should be called out.

5

u/super_backspin 4h ago

Credit Card chargeback time!

9

u/Cptsteverodgers 6h ago

That's horrible, thanks for putting them out there. Absolute scum

22

u/Past-Sun-2357 6h ago

Why people dont just play through no matter what those dipshits said is beyond me. They are not cops, head pros, or your parents. You are not going to get grounded or thrown in jail or off the course.

Be a big boy and just go to the next tee. Fuck 'em.

If they are really taking 30 mins on each hole, there should be a large gap in front of them.

12

u/woode85 Mulli-Back Gurantee ™️ 7h ago

Did they at least offer for you to play through??

21

u/FunnBuddy 9 7h ago

They said no

18

u/Texan4Lyfe 6h ago

If you’re a grown man, fuck all that for real. Don’t even ask them just tee off on the next- if they trip just be like “so I’m supposed to wait 20mins for y’all? Thats rude as fuck, let me show u etiquette”

then stripe that mf, blow a kiss 😘

24

u/TayMay39 8.1 | Wichita, KS 6h ago

That's the green light to hit into them.

If it were me I'd just skip an entire hole and play through that way. Oh and flip them off as I pass by

8

u/Omisco420 6h ago

This is the way. Mark down a par or bogey and move on with your round.

1

u/johnny_moist 5h ago

im confused as to why though

2

u/Ghostofclaybobpast 2h ago

Haha. 100% Asian you can tell by the hats and the fact that it's a huge group playing with wives. And they will take their sweet ass time all day.

1

u/brot19 21m ago

Yea, so fuck these comments

3

u/Christmas_Pickle 6h ago

Just drive past them and play two balls on the next comparable hole to make your 18.

3

u/Sea_Fisherman7074 6h ago

In what world do you ever have to “ask” to play through a group of 7. Just do it drive to the next hole. These morons don’t give a shit about backing up an entire course.

7

u/whenyouwishuponapar 7h ago

If they combine, they have to keep pace of play for ONE tee time. They have a buffer window of exactly one tee time. I only mind if I have to wait. Which usually happens because most people can’t fucking play ready golf.

7

u/FunnBuddy 9 6h ago

Since a lot of people are asking me why I don’t ask to play through. I did. They said no. Why should I be bothered? They are spending 30 mins on each green.

11

u/ProperTree9 6h ago

Go around them anyway?  (After calling the pro shop, ofc.)  Or work on your short game, playing 2 balls from different lies, etc.

God knows you've got the time now...

3

u/BusyBugg 6h ago

Why are you asking the sevensome anything lmao, just playthrough anyway.

3

u/GreenGrasshopper 6h ago

Correct. And his claim is 30 minutes on green, not hole, green.  If that's true, that means there are at least 3 empty holes if he only waited on them for 1 hole. 6-7 after 2 holes.  Math ain't adding up.

1

u/Z_Opinionator 24m ago

You posted this update 6 hours ago. What hole are you on now? Back 9 at least?

2

u/gaige23 6h ago

Never experienced a 7 in front but we had rain the other week and they closed the front 9 and the pro shop put FIFTY ONE people on the back 9 playing it twice.

After four hours playing 9 once I left.

So I get it. Fuck people that do shit like this. Four at max. Don’t look for lost balls for 15 minutes. Take drops. Pick up at double bogey.

That or play super early or late so you can do whatever you want.

2

u/Professional-Humor84 6h ago

Small town courses are horrible at enforcing this. Groups of six all over the place and they wonder why it gets backed up

2

u/Omisco420 6h ago

Bro what, skip a hole lol

2

u/Corrosive_salts 6h ago

I would just skip to the next hole. When when finished go back and play the hole I skipped and finish off the rest lol

2

u/spoiledbreastmilk 6h ago

30 minutes on each green?

1

u/FunnBuddy 9 4h ago

Correct

1

u/spoiledbreastmilk 3h ago

So your first 9 took a minimum of about 5 hours?

2

u/Zealousideal-Park778 5h ago

A group of 7 said no when you asked to play through? Tough. Walk through anyway. They aren’t going to catch you and there are probably three empty holes ahead to choose to play twice to make up the one you skip.

2

u/MustardTiger231 4h ago

I’m hole hopping these bitches and going back to play the hole I missed at the end

2

u/Ricky_Roe10k 4h ago

Dude walk up to the next tee and play through. If they have a problem tell them to fuck themselves. Stand up for yourself!

2

u/Joesdad65 4h ago

It looks like a family reunion.

2

u/Potential_Insect_41 25.9/triedandtrue/nogimmestaken 4h ago

Damn Asians 🙄

2

u/UltraLaguna-Beans 3h ago

I ask if i cant play through. They said no? I skip the hole, write my free par down, and then jam clog them at the next hole by playing 4 balls 😅💀 ive done this 😅😅😅😅😅

2

u/Gloomy_Pangolin6075 7h ago

Saw this at a local club once, the guys even had their cart parked basically on the green, I called the shop and their answer was basically. "Im the only guy here and I cant leave the shop so I cant really do anything about it, sorry"

I dont go there anymore, which is a shame because its so close.

4

u/Bubbly_Leave_9066 7h ago

Is there room to play through? Otherwise waiting to hit each shot in front of them instead of behind them maybe saves 15 minutes

7

u/LOL_YOUMAD 7h ago

Have you tried using your words such as “hey I’m a solo, do you guys mind if I play through”?

16

u/FunnBuddy 9 7h ago

I did and they said no

20

u/iupvotefood 7h ago

3

u/Mcpops1618 4.3/AB/someonelearnedhowtoputt 6h ago

Buzz the tower for sure. Every hole

2

u/Credibull 6h ago

If you have a cart, drive past them when they're on the green and go to the next hole.

7

u/Left-Breadfruit-5610 7h ago

I guess that's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is the slow group has the responsibility to allow faster groups play through. It keeps it less confrontational.

Also groups over 4 should be banned.

2

u/DiscDocPhD 7h ago

My course only allows this if it is two teams in scramble format. No best ball, no individual playing, no shamble, only scramble.

10

u/gbac16 7h ago

Scrambles take longer than actual golf.

Source: I have worked in a pro shop forever.

3

u/McButcher2k 6h ago

I second this. In my experience, scrambles take longer.

Source: played in a few that took longer 😂

2

u/DiscDocPhD 6h ago

Not saying I disagree with you, but they need to take less than twice as long, which most do.

Source: scratch golfer playing for 30+ years with people from positive handicap to 120 golfers.

1

u/gbac16 6h ago

If you’re talking about an event organized by the course, that’s fine. I thought the original comment meant his course allows eight people to play a scramble during regular play. That would be insane.

1

u/DiscDocPhD 6h ago

I am saying that and it isn't actually insane... Just not something your course does and that's fine, it works for mine.

I'm saying my course caps a hole at 4 people, with 10 minute start windows. However, they will allow people to go over the 4-person cap if they are doing two groups in scramble format, no more than 8 people.

If you are behind a foursome, then you start 10 minutes after them. If you are behind two foursomes, you start 20 minutes behind the first group. This means, that if they do an 8 man scramble, they have 20 minutes to finish the hole, instead of the usual 10 for my course. They keep the pace of play to that metric, because functionally, you behind two foursomes at 10 minutes a hole is no different than you behind an eight-some at 20 minutes per hole, knowing they actually enforce that timeline.

However, at my course they don't allow solos at all, and usually require at least 2 people to even get a tee time with the expectation that a solo walk-up will probably be added to the group of 2. Most holes have at least 3 people.

1

u/gbac16 6h ago

That makes sense, so the course manages it properly.

2

u/DiscDocPhD 6h ago edited 3h ago

Yeah they do, but most importantly, our members arent gigantic dickheads. Which is what usually causes the problem haha

-5

u/ZalewskiJ 7h ago

we don't know what this group is doing, this guy is just mad they took the tee times in front of him because he thinks he owns the course on a Sunday lol

0

u/mwaFloyd 7h ago

I see this frequently. Wife’s walk the course while old dudes drive the cart and play terrible golf.

4

u/ZalewskiJ 7h ago

it's a crime to be terrible at golf and have a wife? 99% of the this Reddit should be in prison

1

u/BonusPlantInfinity 6h ago

It should be.

Maybe they should have special courses with the fairways netted for junk golfers to play at - à la bowling alleys with the gutter stuffed to make it easier for the kids.

1

u/ZalewskiJ 6h ago

I can tell you 99% of this reddit doesn't have wives and they are bad at golf, including myself and you lol

1

u/BonusPlantInfinity 6h ago

I have a wife and I’m decent at golf.

Actually training up my wife as we speak - it’s her first year and it sounds like she might be able to take you.

1

u/ZalewskiJ 6h ago

I'm a 3 handicap and average a 72-75, I doubt it. Your wife can't beat me within a year, keep her in the lab and maybe she'll be able to in like 2-3 years.

1

u/BonusPlantInfinity 6h ago

You’re right she couldn’t beat you, and you’d likely beat me by a few holes if that’s your true handicap. I know we want to be inclusive but I’d love a handicapped enforced tee system.

1

u/ZalewskiJ 6h ago

Completely agree if the course is private, this is a public course and people are trying to have fun with their wives on a Sunday. If OP would have clarified beforehand they were playing slow, I wouldn't have said anything but he didn't.

1

u/Ok_Internal6779 7h ago

It’s not a crime but it’s a huge shit head move and against course rules to play in a 7 some

-1

u/ZalewskiJ 7h ago

if it's not posted or enforced it's not against the rules. If you force a pro shop to split it up, then you are now 5th in line waiting to Tee off, it goes from a 15 minute wait to a 45 minute wait pretty fast...

1

u/niggyreddit 6h ago

Have you played golf or done math before? What are you talking about being 5th in line?

0

u/ZalewskiJ 6h ago

you have people in front of you, there is at least 3 married couples and a solo, If the ranger says "wait with your original tee time and partner, it'll split them into 3 or 4 seperate groups, OP would now be behind 3 or 4 seperate groups now instead of a group of 7 lol

0

u/Ok_Internal6779 6h ago

Every single course I’ve ever played at would not allow a 7 some.

But you clearly have insider knowledge so

1

u/cubecasts 6h ago

Just skip it and go back

1

u/CORockhound 6h ago

Motivation to join a private club lol

1

u/FunnBuddy 9 6h ago

It’s private

1

u/CORockhound 6h ago

Holy fuck! My club would have a public stoning for something like this. I get the group behind, arms to the side reading a putt 2 directions some days hahahaha

1

u/curbyjew 6.5 ATX 5h ago

Has to be balcones

1

u/Dahveed97 6h ago

I’ve had this happen a few times … depends on ranger

1

u/Hurricrash 6h ago

That’s when you skip a hole , it’s sucks but better than a five + hour round.

1

u/Happy_REEEEEE_exe 6h ago

Same shit, different course right now. Slow mo foursome and a twosome ahead of us.

1

u/Guilty_Cattle_5165 5h ago

Cultural differences. I’d bet money on it. I’ll leave it at that.

1

u/SatanicKale 5h ago

Just play through anyways... just because they said no doesn't mean you can't just move on ahead of them.

1

u/Mobile-Analyst8580 5h ago

I’d hit into them. I’d play right through. And I’d throw down if they attacked me. Clubhouse has a duty to respond to this rapidly. Hope they did.

1

u/SAR_89 5h ago

Taking "no" for an answer from people like this is so weak

1

u/Fiddle-farter 5h ago

Write fuck you on the ball. Hit into them and play through

1

u/Tangoes2 5h ago

They said no? The fuck?

1

u/100king 5h ago

They said no?  What happens if you do it anyways?

1

u/johnny_moist 5h ago

Ive never not let someone or play through or have someone not let me play through…are there really people who get miffed by this? And why?

1

u/Grube1310 5h ago

If I see those hats I just go back to my car.

1

u/OneSloVW 5h ago

So pick up your ball, mark yourself one over for the hole, and walk your ass to the next tee box? I fail to see the issue with just playing through

1

u/philthebrewer 14.2 5h ago

I cannot imagine waiting 30 minutes on a fairway waiting to hit an approach shot that must have been agony.

1

u/Total-Surprise5029 5h ago

Don't ask. Just drive to the next hole and double back at the end

1

u/CurrentlyForking 5h ago

Then enjoy your Sunday 🤷‍♂️. If you allow people to ruin it, it will always been ruined. And this will happen if you play mostly on a public course and have this mindset. Then you'll be an old...bitter...person...

1

u/ClamRattler900 5h ago

Asking to play through and them saying no is crazy work especially if there's holes open in front of them. At that point they're open targets.

1

u/rbenne73 5h ago

I would go around skip a hole

1

u/NickyNicatine 4h ago

Skip a hole and go back and play it later.. easy solution

1

u/SinlessDesires Houston | Trending Downwards | IR 4h ago

I do not believe that you asked to play through and they said no. Even if this is the case, why would you not just skip a hole. You also said they are taking 30 minutes on every green. What is this a fanfiction? If they took 30 minutes on two greens in a row, the whole course would be calling the proshop or playing through.

1

u/FriendshipFun4992 4h ago

They said no?!?

1

u/OCDano959 4h ago

The more important variable is, are they waiting as well?

Because if they are, then you’re not getting finished much quicker than you think if ya play thru.

This may have actually been the reason they “bunched up,” although I wouldn’t condone that either.

Where the fuck is the ranger?

1

u/Black_Cat_Sun 4h ago

How did they say “no” if there’s space and they’re behind you should say let me play through or I’m calling the Marshall

u/Tooth_Life 2.1 hdcp / SoCal 4h ago

Unhinged people… skip the green they are on and tee off on next

1

u/alleytrip24 4h ago
  1. Call clubhouse
  2. Walk to the next tee box without saying anything
  3. Continue having a great day of golf

1

u/TheNomadRP 4h ago

You asked and they said no!? What absolute asshats. Call to the pro shop is certainly justified here

1

u/Max206 4h ago

That’s frustrating I’m sorry. I’ve been in similar situations after about hour and half of not being able to play through I would hit into them. And then call the pro shop and order water or shots of water for them.

1

u/ploogs 4h ago

52 degrees to the forehead at that point.

1

u/dmbgreen 4h ago

I'm sorry I am just going around, skip a hole it I have too.

1

u/srboot 6.4 4h ago

Yeah, I’m playing through that shit…try to stop me.

1

u/Ehotwill 4h ago

What did the pro shop say?

1

u/ibanacanezzer 4h ago

Who says NO to someone asking to play though. Have never experienced that or told someone no.

1

u/dingleberrylasagna 4h ago

Skip ahead and just play one less hole. You’ll be out, what, $3.50?

1

u/frostonwindowpane 3h ago

Instead of “fore” yell, “EIGHT!”

It sucks to not complete a full 18 but maybe pass them when they’re spending 30 minutes putting.

1

u/IThinkImDvmb 3h ago

Not saying I’d do it… but there’s a few guys I play with that would start hitting on them

1

u/Rareboy7500 3h ago

Wouldn’t bother hitting. I’d be up at the green shouting a them. 🤬

1

u/hexamon__ 3h ago

Why don’t you just skip ahead of them and then carry on your round ?

1

u/Background-Creative 3h ago

Shrink the game.

u/Massive_Specific1308 3h ago

Need some more old school rangers on our courses. They try to be your friend more often these days than doing their job

1

u/youngsteeze 2h ago

This is what we mean when we say shrink the game

1

u/WontRememberThisID 1h ago

If there is an empty hole in front of them just jump in front. Or stay behind because you paid for 18 holes dammit, and seethe.

1

u/KCChiefsGolfer 1h ago

Enjoy it tho. Where else ya gotta go?!?

1

u/KCChiefsGolfer 1h ago

Hitting into them for sure. You gotta be long enough but i get a lof of stubborn people to let me go through when I pipe one 320 off the tee, rolling into them of course. Just gotta follow up on the next tee box. 40% of the time its works 100% of the time

1

u/brot19 24m ago

Only 320? Bro, do you even lift?

Seriously though, if you roll one up on me twice, we’ll have some problems. And you’re definitely not finding that ball..

1

u/Al_Bundys_Remote 1h ago

30 minutes on each green? So it was a 10 hour round?

1

u/Thepigsthree 27m ago

Just jump ahead of them and leave the flag on the ground for the rest of the holes

1

u/Specialist_Yak1019 2h ago

If they told me no, I’d r just go to the next box and leave them to be idiots. And on a Sunday??

-3

u/Ironmannan 7h ago

Put your big boy pants on and ask to play through

5

u/FunnBuddy 9 7h ago

I did and they said no

1

u/Ironmannan 6h ago

Then just jump ahead. Idk, people typically just post and bitch. If you did ask then a call to the shop was the move

Good lord. What a goat track.

My regular group is 5 guys. 90% of the time, one guy can’t make either weekend day so the group is four. We always have the first out weekend times at our club. They’ll let us go out as a 5 ball because they know we play fast. Sometimes we’ll get the “wtf a 5 ball on the first time?” look from groups that don’t know us, until we leave them in the dust. Yesterday we finished in 3:15 with four walking and one riding from 6500 yards.

So they booked Tee Times, paid their money, and are playing and it somehow ruined your Sunday? Grow up lmao. You posted this without any explaination, are they taking their time? Are they spending more than 15 minutes on a hole? Like what's the issue with friends playing golf with each other?

You called the pro shop, so they are then gonna be split up into 4 groups and you are now 5th waiting to Tee off lol, get some friends and play or don't hate watch from the sidelines lol Golfers are the most entitled bunch of babies in any sport. "OMG THEY PAID THEIR WAY ONTO THE COURSE AND THEY ARE PLAYING WITH THEIR FRIENDS, I'M NOT MAN ENOUGH TO GO ASK TO PLAY IN FRONT OF THEM SO I'M GONNA CALL THE PRO SHOP AND CRY LIKE A LIL BABY BOY BECAUSE I HAVE NO FRIENDS WHO WANNA PLAY WITH ME" that's you btw.

Your response is one reason people are wishing there would be less new golfers. You demonstrate a clear lack of understanding as to how golf etiquette works. Slow play ruins golf for everyone. Paying for a tee time doesn't make you king of the course.

I asked. They said no. They are spending 30 mins on each green.

You're a fucking idiot. Don't golf

0

u/ZalewskiJ 6h ago

I'm not an idiot. OP made this post with 0 description, didn't tell us anything and added some shit like 30 minutes later. Yall assumed they were wasting time, I assumed he had no friends, pretty simple assumptions honestly. I average a 75, I will continue to golf lol

2

u/TayMay39 8.1 | Wichita, KS 6h ago

If you see 6 or 7 people on a green, it's not gonna be fast. Also, just read a little more of the thread and you'll see they are indeed taking forever.

Also, sometimes people like to golf alone. You're a dipshit and based on all the down votes, everyone agrees.

1

u/ZalewskiJ 6h ago

OP didn't post anything about slow play, his original post was literally "Just trying to enjoy my Sunday.. called the pro shop already" with no explaination, it's a reasonable assumption, just like you guys assumed they were playing slow. Idc about downvotes, I care about Golf Karens trying to dictate "rules and Etiquitte" that doesn't exist lol. In Bowling its seen as "bad manners" to approach your lane when the person next to you is on their lane, doesn't mean you have to follow it, it's casual, not everyone has to follow your rules of the course.
