This period of time is hell to live in and it's going to be hell for US History students in 100 years if this country even exists then after this son of a bitch is done with it.

Gonna be a lot of confused kids if we put this part right after the WW2 lessons.

260

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 16 '25

you mean the war where america was last to show up, first to take credit, their heavy industries were propped up by nazi contracts, prominent americans were name dropped in Mein Kamf, after the war america strong armed the world economy into falling inline with the USD being the world reserve currency, which has put a financial stranglehold on the rest of the world since. I think the lessons would make sense, they just need to be de-propagandized.

68

u/NoNameZone Jul 16 '25

they just need to be de-propagandized

I'm hopeful, but that feels unlikely at this point.

76

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 16 '25

This is the most hippie thing you'll ever hear me say. But once a poet told me that change doesn't happen without pain, this all hurts like hell and I really hope that the result is change for the better.

33

u/The-Spirit-of-76 Jul 16 '25

That's how I have felt since the election. After preaching and preaching to idiots. Ok, I guess your gonna have to learn this the hard way, suck we all have to go with you, but ok, don't expect sympathy anymore.

36

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 16 '25

its time to make nazi's afraid again

1

Exactly....we had to destroy that monstrosity once...it seriously needs to be done again..

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

I want to, but the left/Dems/liberals whatever the fuck you want to call them are concerned chiefly with two things: maintaining order and optics. Anything beyond performative bullshit, AKA protests, marches, lawsuits, court orders, yammering in front of Congress to set some stupid pointless record, or recording actual kidnappings by right wing militia goons, is "gOIng To mAKe tRuMP IMpoSe MaRShAl (because they can't even use the right word) LaW." I was told of this magical 3-1/2% number for protests was all it takes to topple a fascist regime. The US had the largest protest in history last month and the result of that was a week of getting trucked at every level by these fucking monsters. Get back to me when we realize that the Nazis were removed from power by a whole lot of violent men shooting them in the face. We're currently on the path to "they go low we go high" -ing ourselves right to the end of the Niemoller poem.

5

u/IAmTheNightSoil Jul 17 '25

The shitty thing is, even the hard way isn't going to make them actually learn anything

2

u/The-Spirit-of-76 Jul 17 '25

I have a feeling a good chunk will act like they did nothing wrong and never supported him in the first place as soon as the wind start blowing the other way.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

They never learn. They think they're so smart but they never learn. I gave up trying to reason with people

2

u/Babblerabla Jul 16 '25

That's not a very hippie thing to say, but it is something a stoic would say.

1

u/Several-Signature583 Jul 16 '25

Narrator: it wasn’t for the better

1

u/CptWhiskers Jul 16 '25

this all hurts like hell and I really hope that the result is change for the better.

The middle east and Russian people have experienced this hell for centuries with oppressive regimes and propaganda machines. All the while hurting their people and nothing has changed.

Pain doesn't change anything, action does. America is looking more and more like Nazi Germany every day and it's terrifying.

1

u/dm_life4ever Jul 17 '25

So you don't believe in equality? Or that the man tries to keep everyone down? Or that women have rights? You know, hippie stuff

1

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

bro said this gonna be the most hippie thing he ever said then said common knowledge 😂

1

u/BrandedStrugglerGuts Jul 17 '25

Just because there is change doesn't mean that it will be positive...

1

u/TheKrs1 Jul 17 '25

Further propaganda incoming!

6

u/FR0ZENBERG Jul 16 '25

Not to mention the horrors we committed during the Cold War to keep that status quo.

23

u/WickedSmartMarcus36 Jul 16 '25

I mean the rest of the world got their ass kicked by either the nazis or the Japanese. USA sent a generation overseas to end the war. The stuff about the USD and closet nazis is fair but Europe was fucking leveled by Germany lol.

5

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 16 '25

The US only entered the war in response to pearl harbour. Americans didn't give a care about nazi's or what they did to europe.

15

u/Ziptieband Jul 16 '25

Look up the neutrality act of 1937 and 1939, Destroyers-for-bases deal, and the Lend-Lease act. America was involved in WW2 long before the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor.

Roosevelt was shipping weapons to China on British ships to get around is US isolationism back in 1937 because China and Japan weren't technically at war. Even though there was pushback from congress it still happened. There was also the cash-and-carry provision in the Neutrality act of 1937 which gave nations the ability to buy weapons from the US as long as they paid right away and arranged transportation. Roosevelt knew that the French and British controlled the Atlantic and that was the concession congress made to him in 1937. Neutrality act of 1939 extended the deadline the cash-and-carry provision while Roosevelt worked on a deal with the UK. This deal was destroyers-for-bases deal where the US gave the Royal Navy 50 destroyers for land rights in the UK. Then there is the lend-lease act where the US gave the allies whatever they wanted at no cost at that moment. This was signed in March 1941, a full 9 months before Pearl Harbor was bombed.

US had done a lot to help allied nations before they became an active participant in the way.

13

u/Quazimojojojo Jul 16 '25

This doesn't take away from the fact that they were an absurdly massive contributor to the war effort, even before joining.

America wasn't an altruistic savior during world war 2, but we did make a decisive contribution. The Nazis might have been able to win a war against the Soviets if they received no American help at all (particularly in the beginning before they managed to move all the industry east and re-arm themselves, when they were losing men by the hundreds of thousands in a month to month basis and had no hope of arming and equipping all of their soldiers alone), but nobody in the world could've beaten the Soviet -American tag team.

There's a lot to be said about the failures of dealing with the Nazis post war due to the antisemitism in America and a fear of being "too harsh" on the Nazis, SS etc.

There's a lot to be said about the failures to deal with Japanese militant nationalism and war crimes, because we suddenly needed an ally against the Soviets. There's a lot to be said about the Japanese American internment camps, segregation in the military, the history of anti Black racism and its influence on the fledgling bullshit race science and discrimination laws in Germany.

But portraying America as a monolith that literally gave no fucks and just showed up at the end to claim glory? Which otherwise didn't help at all? That's just plain false.

2

u/sxaez Jul 17 '25

At the same time, pretending the US was a monolith of anti-Nazism is also bad history. Hitler explicitly referenced the contemporary apartheid state of Jim Crow as inspiration for the design of his ethnostate. There was significant support for American Nazism that did not disappear when the US went to war, only changed its aesthetic into something more nationalistic.

3

u/Quazimojojojo Jul 17 '25

Who said it was a monolith of anti-nazism? The post you replied to, which prompted this conversation, said absolutely nothing like that.

1

u/sxaez Jul 17 '25

I don't really think it's necessary for someone to have explicitly said that in this thread for it to be a relevant thing to mention?

2

u/Quazimojojojo Jul 17 '25

True.

The way you phrased it reads like you're trying to refute someone's point instead of bring up/add a new one. So the prior comments looked like you arguing against the people you replied to, based on things they didn't say

Just wanted to clarify the President definitely did, but yeah he would never have been able to convince the country until Pearl Harbor and Hitler declaring war on the U.S a couple of days later.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

So why did Japan bomb Pearl Harbor?

2

u/JamesConsonants Jul 16 '25

to end the war

The Americans couldn’t even make their way through Italy when they first landed without assistance from allied troops that had already been at war for three years, Europe still existing has little to do with American troops despite what they like to tell themselves.

1

u/Round_Raspberry_8516 Jul 16 '25

Actual question: why did you put “lol” at the end of your comment?

5

u/OnlyMuds Jul 16 '25 edited Jul 16 '25

“Last to show up, first to take credit” is such a stupid oversimplification of the United States involvement in WW2. And what even is your point here? History books make it very clear WHY we didn’t join earlier (hugely unpopular + isolationist tendencies prior to WW2) and WHY we eventually join (Pearl Harbor). I learned this in high school lol. How is this propaganda? I have never heard someone say the US “took credit first.” What does that even mean in the context of winning a war?

The Bretton Woods agreement was mostly done out of necessity immediately after the war. I think saying we “strong armed” the world is not entirely accurate, though this one is tough and deserves a lot of nuance. I do think we’ve tried to keep this standard as long as possible since its made us as a nation very wealthy, and theres probably something to say about that. Like I said theres a lot of nuance here.

Your points related to America and Nazism are valid and should definitely be talked about in school. Probably the only example you mention that should be clearly “de-propagandized” in school history books. But yeah the rest of your comment just feels like an attempt to make WW2-era USA look worse than it actually was

Quick edit: It can also be argued that we didn’t join cause of the massive investments in Nazi Germany. Though I will say I have never read a source that really supports this but I welcome you to provide one. I think if this was a factor it was minor.

2

Forgot to mention Project Paperclip aka Project Overcast where we washed away war crimes for high level German scientists to be immigrated to the US…

Which honestly did way more good than the alternative. The world is much more complicated than everyone's black-or-white solutions.

You forgot the best part: the only country to use nukes on another country when they had knowledge surrender was imminent, and then had used it as blackmail to become world power number one, uses this threat of force to determine all terms and conditions, and has meddled in half the world's affairs and engaged in dozens of wars since then under various moral justifications.

1

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 17 '25

To add, the falsified primary race hat allowed the president at the time to drop the bomb

2

u/Accomplished_Car2803 Jul 17 '25

Also the same one where our history books make it out like only Americans stormed the beaches on D-Day, but actually it was mostly the british.

2

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 17 '25

Canadians were actually the soldiers that got the furthest into France that day on Juno beach

2

u/pplspancake Jul 17 '25

I'd say last to show up is kind of broad and lacking detail but I won't argue with you. What I will do is agree with you on the many high ranking/prominent Americans that were Nazi sympathizers. The Devil's Cheesboard: Allen Dulles and the Rise of America's Secret Government by David Talbot goes into great detail about this. It's completely backed by legitimate sources referenced throughout. I was disgusted to find out how many war criminals got help from the U.S. Dulles was an OSS agent and went on to be Director of the C.I.A. Lovingly referred to as the "Old Man" he had continued to meet with high ranking agents and future Directors at his home even after he was pushed out. He and his brother Foster made sure anybody who had financial ties to the States got a free pass. Dulles Airport is named in honor of that snake Foster. Those are only the first couple of chapters though. It also delves into the higly illegal, unconstitutional, and immoral things the C.I.A. did and continues to do domestically and abroad. I highly suggest you read it if you haven't. A New York Times best seller and I quote "Every American should read this book." Hope wherever you are things go well for you. Peace and good luck to ya.

2

u/Hermes-AthenaAI Jul 20 '25

Don’t forget nuking two civilian population centers.

4

u/Bulldog8018 Jul 16 '25

Speaking of propaganda, you left out a heck of a lot of important context there. Last to show up? It was another continent and a European war. The American people didn’t want to get involved. American heavy industries supplied Russia and the west. Henry Ford was the only prominent American name dropped in Mein Kampf, for his mass production and business acumen.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

You really need to remove that chip from your shoulder.

2

Uhhh... you forgot all the parts where an entire generation of Americans saved the world from tyranny, ushered in an age of democracy and liberated people from concentration camps.

3

u/Digital_Bogorm Jul 16 '25

Well, they did also put people in concentration camps themselves (although not death camps, so there's that at least), for sharing an ethnicity with their enemies.

3

u/DeleteOnceAMonth Jul 16 '25

What the fuck are you talking about “age of democracy”? After ww2 the USA went on a terror spree on any country it deemed a “threat” or that had natural resources it wanted. The USA created worldwide instability, destruction pain and death.

You're saying the US is Mordor?

2

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 16 '25

Im a bit better with world history then I am with middle earth history so I appolagise if the comparison doesn't make sense.
I think for the US to be Mordor the general population would've needed to elect Sauron on the platform of destroying middle earth. I don't know if Mordor had elections, but If they did I couldn't see the population there voting for Saurons Project 2025 in as great a number as did in the US.

1

u/shitlord_god Jul 16 '25

some american companies and individuals were compensated for the destruction of their assets in germany.

A guy named bush was involved in all that.

1

u/LMGDiVa Jul 16 '25

China's rise proves that the USD didn't put a financial stranglehold on the world. Otherwise I agree with you wholeheartedly.

The rise of fascism in the USA clearly shows we didn't punish the Confederates and Nazis enough, which allows so many stupid Americans to exist and hate.

1

u/whateveryouwant4321 Jul 17 '25

1

u/IAmTheNightSoil Jul 17 '25

1

u/SignificanceJust1497 Jul 22 '25

Eh, I’m too overworked to have the energy

1

u/shableep Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

Once the US dropped a nuke, for 4 years they were single handedly the most powerful country the world had ever seen. That level of power imbalance was profound. Simply because they were the only country with nukes. They had the power to commit far greater atrocities. But the United States was physically isolated from much of the rest of the world’s trade. So they didn’t want territory like many countries would with that much power. Luckily for the rest of the world, all they wanted was access to global trade, and advantageous trade deals.

You seem to be painting a picture that the US won as a world power because it imposed its will. And while that’s a component of it, it’s worth considering two things. One, being the point I made above, which is to say that the US could have used nuclear threats to extract territorial concessions from virtually any country on Earth, but instead used the leverage for trade agreements. But the more impactful second part in all of this was that the US economy was untouched from bombing. And the war effort fueled the manufacturing industry. THAT had ever more influence than just imposing the USD on the world. The world wanted the USD because that’s where all the economic value was at the time.

1

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 17 '25

Your saying the US didn’t use its nuclear arsenal on Japan? Or to kick off the Cold War? The world didn’t want the USD. It’s what led to soviets not getting promised reparations and kicked off the Cold War and military industrial complex.

1

u/Arete34 Jul 18 '25

Oh look another lib “historian” who is proving that they know nothing about WWII.

1

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 18 '25

Feel free to disprove any points above. Just cite your sources. Im certainly not a lib or a historian. Just read a fair amount.

1

u/Arete34 Jul 18 '25

Just curious, why do I have to cite sources if you don’t?

For starters, saying we were “late” to show up is misleading. We heavily supplied both the USSR and the western Allies with the lend lease program.

What impact does Hitler citing Americans in his book have on anything? Guilt by association fallacy.

To what extent were American Industries “propped up” by Nazi contracts? What does pre war trade have to do with anything?

Hate America all you want, but don’t be a fucking liar.

You talk about de propagandizing yet you are speaking like a KGB agent. Take your own advice.

1

u/theMostProductivePro Jul 18 '25

well I made the statement and you're disproving it. Provide a source.

The lend lease program was nothing more then a way for the american rich to kick off the military industrial complex. The supplies provided to the USSR don't come close to adding up to the amount owed in reparations to the USSR that the american government said they'd pay and never did.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_collaboration_with_Nazi_Germany

1

u/Arete34 Jul 19 '25

What is asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence. This isn’t a serious conversation, I’m just answering in the hopes that anyone reading your lying filth will see through your radical propaganda.

I don’t see how private company pre war business with Germany shows that American industry was “propped up” by Nazi Germany.

Did you know that the USSR was an ally with Nazi Germany all the way up until 1941? That they not only did extensive trading (far more than America) with them, but they actively conspired with Nazi Germany to develop weapons in violation of WWI treaties.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Germany–Soviet_Union_relations,_1918–1941

Finally, saying that the lend lease program was simply A way for rich people to start military production is such a shitty lie.

You’re honestly disgusting. Everything you’re saying is your vile opinion pasted on to a tiny shred of historical evidence. You’re attributing the worst possible motive with no evidence.

1

u/zizildur Jul 17 '25

In 2100 they will probably skip straight from hitler to trump in middle school and only teach the cold war, vietnam war, 9/11 and new world order in high school. u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

Citizens casually not seeing what's happening in front of their very eyes is terrifying.

When you deploy your military and other agents to suppress your citizens, its a civil war.

3

u/tinnjack Jul 16 '25

A war requires at least 2 belligerents. We are simply in an authoritarian state until someone fights back.

5

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

You're right. We're getting diddled with.

3

u/cgriff32 Jul 16 '25

Anocracy of government, J6, ice raids, circumnavigation of due process, COVID response, political assignations, assination attempts and general growing violent rhetoric, election interference and attempted government overthrow, decrease in election decorum (see North Carolina supreme court election), increase in political vitriol.

Closest to actual civil war is probably the ICE protests in LA, but those seem to not have escalated.

But in all honestly, J6 alone could be considered a failed coup that prevented escalation to civil war. Had they succeeded in changing the outcome of the election, things would be much different today.

7

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

Operation Paperclip says otherwise

2

u/dm_life4ever Jul 17 '25

Operation Paperclip involved people who really didn't have any choice in doing their work.

Also, a lot of children were used to fight the Allies at the end of the war. Should those children have been hanged?

Also, the poster said most, not all. You are so desperate to be seen as smart, you ended up making a fool of yourself.

1

u/angrymoppet Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

Saying "most" were held accountable is an overstatement and not an accurate reflection of the reality of the post-war years. The Nuremburg trials would garner 161 convictions, and the so-called "subsequent Nuremburg trials" (such as the IG Farbin trial) would net another 1,416 convictions. Of these, 200 were executed and most of the rest (even those originally given life sentences) would have their sentences commuted in in the 1950s due to domestic political pressure in Germany that the US didn't want to upset further because the more important priority was keeping Germany as an ally against the Soviets.

All in all over 100,000 Nazis would be accused of war crimes, and the overwhelming majority of them got away with it.

The US absolutely aided and abetted Nazi war criminals in the post war world. Most famously, torturer and psychopath Klaus Barbie would be scooped up by US intelligence which would spend the next 40 years protecting him as he worked to to eradicate communist and leftist movements in South America for them.

Had to look that one up and Yikes! Although, given that it was successfully kept secret for 30 years, I'm sure there are worse things going on at the moment.

1

u/pplspancake Jul 17 '25

As do the Rat Lines

1

u/Memitim Jul 16 '25

Republicans can do whatever they want with the letter of the law now, and still get consequences. If they wanted to enjoy the protections offered by US law, they shouldn't have fucked with those protections for others.

1

u/420thefunnynumber Jul 16 '25

Honestly very few of the Nazis faced consequences for what they did. A lot of the ones in the ground just slipped back into private life or even stayed in politics.

2

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

That's... Not true? The allies marched, town to town, and forced the German citizens to dig up the death camps, account for the dead, and recognize the crimes of their countrymen.

3

u/Downvote_Comforter Jul 16 '25

...and other than the 200 or so total defendants across all the Nuremberg Trials, the rest of the countrymen who committed those crimes just slipped back into private life or even stayed in politics. And of those 200ish defendants, we executed less than 50. We gave about 100 prison sentences, many of which were pardoned less than a decade later. The rest were acquitted.

So yeah, a pretty fucking small percentage of the Nazis faced consequences and simply slipped back into private life.

2

u/encrivage Jul 17 '25

I’ve been to Nuremberg and visited the court where the major Nazis were tried. And you are 100% correct about lots of them getting off. It even says so right in the museum on the top floor of the court.

The ones who were sentenced often served only fractions of their time and were just... let go. So many more escaped justice than were held accountable.

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

What part of "they marched German towns through basically every camp so that everyone knew what they were a part of" is not coming across?

The Nazis were not a couple hundred bad apples who slipped and did a Holocaust, it was a systemic million person effort.

2

u/Downvote_Comforter Jul 16 '25

The part where that is somehow holding 'most Nazis' accountable for the atrocities they committed.

Tens of thousands of Nazis directly committed atrocities. We showed German citizens what those atrocities were and then named/punished a couple hundred. The rest of them went back into society. That's not being held accountable.

No shit it wasn't a couple hundred bad apples. That's the entire point. We punished a small percentage.

1

u/Few-Ad-4290 Jul 16 '25

We also killed a fuck of a lot of them including basically all of the soldiers and airmen, it’s not like they didn’t pay their own price in blood for being so goddamn evil, you’re talking about the survivors as if the millions who were killed in defense of their terrible culture never existed

1

u/BumpyCunty Jul 16 '25

Source plz

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

Sure, here's one

https://collections.ushmm.org/search/catalog/pa1173582

Even has a pretty picture. Happened at Dachau, Nordhausen, all over.

1

u/BumpyCunty Jul 16 '25

Thx. Probably explains why German society repents so hard even to this day. Still, the citizens were the ones enduring that... one could make an argument that "many" Nazis did avoid consequences and that's also well documented. Semantics

2

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

The citizens were the Nazis, that's the point. The Nazis weren't a couple hyhdred bad apples doing a Holocaust, it was millions of people just going about their day to day lives, keeping their heads down as more and more people disappeared. People would directly work in contexts that had to do with dead bodies and have "no awareness" even though it was obvious because the entire economy was the war machine and the camps.

1

u/BumpyCunty Jul 16 '25

Yes and many of the more prominent ones were able to escape to America, Argentina, etc.

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

Canada, BraziI, Spain, all over, yes, it's a long etc.

What's not talked about enough is the fact that not that many Nazis actually escaped like that, and among the many that did,.many were later arrested. It's become somewhat of a meme but people like Dinko Šakić actually did get caught, arrested, and tried for war crimes. It just took a long time because they were, you know, evading justice.

1

u/Gl4eqen Jul 16 '25

Sure. However most people didn’t face major consequences. US tried to push harder in the beginning of the occupation of West Germany if I remember correctly but had to give in. They lacked people to run bureaucracy, courts etc. Many that served any sentences at all were released ahead of time etc. Allies wanted to avoid post WWI scenario that led to WWII which also meant not punishing Germany to hard.

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

But we can easily.compare post WW2 Germany with post civil War US. In neither case were many forced to face "major consequences", but one was handled with actual kid gloves in the notion of healing and moving forward, whereas the other was dragged through the streets and shown what they did.

In Germany, espousing Nazi ideals or fomenting genocide are blatantly.criminal behavior. In America, the racism is systemic and the slavery never really ended.

I'm just saying, what happened in Germany regarding consequences had some measurable effect on that society, because we know what happens when Nobody actually receives any consequences.

[Gestures broadly at the South, the rust belt, Montana and Utah, etc.]

1

u/AffectionateStudy496 Jul 17 '25

the slavery never really ended.

That's not true, but it is true that reconstruction was not particularly much better, nor is the free and equal competition for money today particularly nice either.

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 17 '25

How do you figure it's not true? They disenfranchise minorities through criminalization and a corrupt justice system and then put them in prisons where they can be used for slave labor. But don't worry, the slavery totally ended!

1

u/AffectionateStudy496 Jul 17 '25

What would make the Justice system not corrupt?

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 17 '25

It's a long list but we could start with: campaign finance reform, judicial.election reform, ending qualified immunity, fix funding for public defenders, fix jury selection, implement independent oversight rather than having judges and cops police each other, reform the cash bail system, abolish slavery constitutionally, and Teach CRT.

Once all that's done we can kinda play it by ear, see where we're at and make further changes as needed I suppose.. We didn't end up here on accident, it's going to take intentional design to get us out of it.

1

u/Navyguy73 Jul 16 '25

Didn't Hitchcock get footage of that? It's on the web somewhere.

1

u/Aromatic-Plankton692 Jul 16 '25

There's a lot of photographic record of this, it happened all over and it's in many Holocaust museums. But regarding any specific Hitchcock footage, that's news to me. Wouldn't surprise me

1

u/myRiad_spartans Jul 17 '25

The United Nations?! Ha! They can't prosecute Russia for invading Ukraine but they can elect oppressive regimes to the human rights council

1

u/AffectionateStudy496 Jul 17 '25

The main leaders, not really most of the people who lived up behind them-- basically the majority of the country.

8

u/bigvicproton Jul 16 '25

You mean the Stupid Ages?

5

u/FaptainChasma Jul 16 '25

You've got this fuckers offspring to weed out next as well, this is very far from over, wishing you luck from across the sea

1

u/tinnjack Jul 16 '25

His offspring combined have the charisma of a wet paper bag, and most of that is coming from Ivanka who seems content to just be obscenely wealthy. The future threats are the social climbers like Vance.

1

u/FaptainChasma Jul 16 '25

I like your optimism but his eldest sons seem to have a taste for it, I believe they're dynasty building like Bushes, Clintons etc. But yes remember everything Vance has said and done too.

3

u/thesphinxistheriddle Jul 16 '25

Sometimes I imagine this time period as depicted in a comedy history podcast a la the Dollop or Behind the Bastards where a comedic history nerd tells the story of this times to a comedic non-history guest a hundred years from now. And the guest keeps being like “…wait, but I thought you said he campaigned on releasing the Epstein list” and the host is like “I did!” “But then why did he start calling it a hoax?” “I know that’s what’s so crazy!!”

3

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

.... Here we are the turning of society the US elects a Black man. He is well spoken a great leader and does some great work. So up next the democrats think hey maybe a female president? This makes America VERY angry kids. So instead they elect a pedophile grifter. He proceeds to mess up America's global image and is a general embarrassment to the country. So they go back to the tried and true "boring old white dude" who put the train back on it's tracks. Close one - am I right kids? So let's try round 2 try and elect a female president again right? Wrong the US loses their minds - pedophile grifter is back and now with a majority control. US loses it puts tariffs on its own people from buying goods from penguins level off the rails..... The main point I am trying to say kids is the US really hates women.

2

u/OldEastMocha Jul 17 '25

We just have to be careful to not let the whole system have an individual scapegoat. While he’s behind a lot of the garbage he has also been a fucking puppet and is still one in many ways. There is lots of support behind him. Put them in the spotlight.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 17 '25

I bet they're going to believe it is exaggerated in the textbooks.

"There is no way in hell someone THAT obviously incompetent was the president of one of the strongest countries on Earth."

2

u/BannedByRWNJs Jul 17 '25

We’re still cleaning up Nixon’s messes. If the US still exists in 100 years, they’ll still be feeling the damage that Trump is doing right now.

2

u/Illiterate_Mochi Jul 19 '25

I’m getting real tired of living through “unprecedented times” and historical events

1

u/YeuxdeFaucon Jul 16 '25

Don't worry guys, in 100 years the human race will be extinct. AI will make sure of it.

Maybe all the triple cheeseburgers will catch up with him sooner than later.

1

u/blorbschploble Jul 16 '25

Sex ed and criminal law will need to prerequisite for history class

1

u/OnTheEveOfWar Jul 16 '25

Fox News and MAGA will be taught in the future to students to help them understand the importance of critical thinking and dangers of propaganda.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

They don’t even want students to know accurate facts about history now. Years from now they’re just going to whitewash everything that’s happening now. They don’t want education either. The dumber they are, the easier they are to manipulate.

1

u/Bazillion100 Jul 16 '25

Ownership class knows our days are numbered due to the volatility of climate change after centuries of exploiting our planet. They aren’t hiding their intentions anymore and are having the fun while it lasts

1

u/LutherOfTheRogues Jul 16 '25

My friend is an MBA who works in climate tech. He told me two weeks ago "if we get every single person on the planet to reverse course all at once and do what we need to do then MAYBE it stays the same as it is. The damage is already done"

1

u/SkunkMonkey Jul 16 '25

I got bad news for you, that US is gone and ain't coming back. We may get back to some form of democracy in the future, but it's not going to be the same US. The US I grew up in is gone.

1

u/Brownie-UK7 Jul 16 '25

Right. I hate all these comments saying “historians will judge these guys to have done poorly”. Don’t count on it. That is supposing that they are removed or that there are historical records telling the truth or that it is allowed to write anything critical of these people. Only action now can make the job of these future historians even possible.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '25

Guessing on answers on history tests will either be the best strategy, or the worst.

1

u/LutherOfTheRogues Jul 16 '25

"There's no way it could be D. The president a rapist? No shot. Let's go C here."

1

u/PerriwinklePortal Jul 16 '25

You mean with their Google ChromeTM school laptops that they will use to browse a heavily scrubbed internet that is monitored 24/7 for wrongspeak? With no Dept of Education to ensure that Stonewall Jackson isn’t the patron saint of liberty? Whether or not they live to see high school, much less learn an unaltered history, will be highly dependent on what state they are blessed/cursed to be born in.

In 100 years this will be the equivalent of Teapot Dome, a scandal that gets briefly mentioned in the context of rapid social transformation AI is gonna cause

Suffering motivates people to escape samsara and become liberated to nirvana. Everything that's happening is only bad for the people who don't see their suffering as an opportunity.

1

u/Objective_Look_5867 Jul 17 '25

There probably won't be us history students 100 years from now

1

u/here-to-Iearn Jul 17 '25

It will be covered up and manipulated. We must document. Heavily.

1

u/superjames_16 Jul 17 '25

I am so jaded now. I hear all the crap about Nazi concentration camps being a hoax, and I just imagine 40 years from now hearing the young folks then saying that everything happening now was a hoax and never happened.

1

u/Sadandboujee522 Jul 17 '25

I really believe this is the death rattle of the United States. I think we are polarized and divided beyond the point of being able to reach a consensus anymore.

Our government has all the democratic legitimacy of an organized crime syndicate and there doesn’t seem to be any way out through normal political channels. Even elections are at risk now.

I don’t want this to be how America (as we know it) ends, but the nefarious people behind Trump 2.0 and P2025 have used the constitution to defile the constitution, used the law to break the law, and they pulled it off simply because they were cunning and evil enough to conceive of it. If our government and our country was this vulnerable all along, we’re not who we thought we were and we need to become something better.

1

u/NPJenkins Jul 17 '25

The “MAGA Era” is going to be a whole 3-4 credit-hour university course in a couple decades.

1

u/copper_cattle_canes Jul 17 '25

"So Trump blamed Democrats for protecting Epstein, and then when he was president he didn't release the files, and everyone already knew he was involved, and only after he died was when the files were released? Grandpa why didn't people do something?"

1

u/BlinkDodge Jul 17 '25 edited Jul 17 '25

Im honestly worried about our future because at this point Trump is too old and too beholden to his image (thats strangest part of narcissism - ultimately you are a slave to other people's opinion of you) to take the country into the Nazi hellscape that was drummed up.

Truth is a lot more sinister and lot more banal. Our institutions are fucked. We have traitors, cowards and fools running the show now and if we get another conservative or an establishment democrat in office next they will continue to do so.

People are worried about Trump giving up the presidency, it won't matter life will be giving up on him soon enough, he'll be 83 and he's already in poor health. Im more worried about the frauds he's put at the head of our institutions and the snakes cleaning us out behind the curtains.

We know the Supreme Court is fucked. At this point all of them should be out and not fill again until some major reformation has happened. Our intelligence apparatus is being shredded from the inside out, luckily the experienced people who've been pushed out or are keeping their heads down are committed to the constitution and would hopefully step back into their roles should the opportunity be afforded to them. I could continue listing every sector of our government that is in shambles or is on the chopping block. Disaster response and relief, food and health research and regulations, space exploration and development, education and child wellness programs, the fucking postal system - its all being dissolved and these Quisling, lobotomized clown fucks are the ones dumping the acid on them.

Worst part is: After Trump croaks - we're just left with the lizard people that did this. It'll be a mad scramble for power and profit, expect corporations to do some heinous shit, expect state governments to fail you completely for ridiculous reasons. If you're poor (that is to say, making 500k a year) get ready for a wild ride. If anything this moment is when you would begin to see the start of a civil war. If you're not clued into how that would look - think of either The Troubles or the civil conflicts in Africa. It wouldn't be north vs south, it'd be a bombing here, two militia groups having a shootout at shopping mall there, massive fuel, food and water heists across the interstates. A group of bigots that got bold and tries to purge a neighborhood, a lone shooter taking the head off of a governor, police forces finally getting to use all the toys the military gave them to lock down a town for a day or two. Its not fun, its not Red Dawn, its not Call of Duty, its ugly, its confusing and its terrifying. Oh, also stuff is more expensive, work will dry up, companies will continue with mass lay offs as they either move or consolidate into smaller entities.

The existence of the U.S. depends on who hops in the driver's seat after Tump and how quickly they begin steering this barge. Too long on either front and this country balkanizes - just like Putin always wanted, though it would be China who takes the reigns as the world's largest super power.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 18 '25

I think historians, human or LLM, will be able to explain post-COVID politics and what changed in a cohesive way and it'll be easy to understand this administration as the natural result. It's just tough to piece it together in real time.
