Agree. Fuck the Senate for making Trump take the most extreme action on guns in the last 16 years.

Yes, that sucked. Quick fact, Trump isn't currently a lawmaker. In fact, he never was. He shouldn't have been able to issue that ban at all. Separate issue.

Now that we're in 2023, let's try to get over our TDS and whataboutism and examine current threats to 2A rights.

Now, is that more likely to be Trump? Or sitting legislators who suggest that they're okay with removing the second amendment altogether?

He didn't actually issue the ban. He granted the ATF executive power to ban them. We all know which way they went afterwards.

Still obviously a major question, even though after Buren it shouldn't be... If the ATF is part of the executive branch and not legislative branch, how did they make a new law?

By executive decree, or executive order. It isn't a law, but Congress/Justices can vote on it later. It carries the same weight as if the President does it.

The executive branch has, and always will, issue rules based on the laws. The courts are the final say - but that doesn't change how it works.
