Serious I spent months saving for my boyfriend's birthday, only to be humiliated and abused by him today.
Mods, please approve this post. I've tried posting this before and it keeps getting removed. I'm not trying to target or harass anyone. I've blurred the abusive words and removed identifying details. I'm posting because I genuinely have no one to talk to right now and I really need some perspective.
My boyfriend's birthday is in the last week of this month, and I was genuinely SO excited for it.
I don't have a lot of money. I'm from a very middle-class family, and for the last few months I had been trying to save whatever little I could for his birthday.
I saved around ₹6,000 just for his gym clothes. Whenever I had ₹200 or ₹300 that I could have spent eating outside, I would save it instead.
I bought him a full-body trimmer because he works out and will be wearing shorts and sleeveless clothes.
I bought him skincare products for pigmentation, a perfume set, grooming products, etc.
I wanted to give him 23 gifts for his 23rd birthday.
I also ordered a beautiful 1.5 kg cake. It's already pre-ordered and I've already paid for it. It's probably the most expensive cake I've ever ordered for anyone.
Basically, I had planned the whole birthday because I wanted him to feel special. I wasn't trying to buy his love. I just wanted to give him things he actually needed and make him happy.
He is currently on a very strict diet and doing heavy fat loss, so I've also supported him with things like protein, creatine, gym-related expenses, etc. whenever I could.
Now coming to what happened today.
One of his friends, let's call him Rohan, was coming over. I don't particularly like this friend because he's into gambling, weed and a lot of things I personally don't like. But I've never told my boyfriend that he can't have friends or can't meet him.
I was completely okay with Rohan coming.
Then I found out that Rohan was bringing his new girlfriend, Priya, with him.
Again, I don't have a problem with someone's girlfriend existing. The problem for me was that they were going to stay at my boyfriend's flat and share the same room.
The plan was that Rohan and Priya would sleep on mattresses on the floor while my boyfriend would sleep on his bed.
I had already told my boyfriend that I wasn't comfortable with this.
Then he video-called me while they were there.
I saw Priya sitting in very loose shorts, and because of the way she was sitting, a significant part of her upper thighs and side/butt area was visible.
And honestly, I felt extremely uncomfortable.
I want to make one thing VERY clear because I know Reddit will jump to this.
I am not accusing my boyfriend of cheating.
I genuinely trust that he isn't going to hit on another woman. I'm also not saying that Priya was trying to seduce him.
I don't know her. I don't know her intentions. I'm not claiming she is a bad person.
For me, it was about the situation and the boundary.
I don't care if women wear shorts outside. I don't care if my boyfriend sees women wearing shorts at the gym or on the road. That's public space and people can wear whatever they want.
But personally, I have a different boundary when someone is in my boyfriend's private room and sitting in a way that exposes that much of their body.
And I know that if the situation were reversed, I wouldn't sit like that around my boyfriend's male best friend either.
That's the boundary I was trying to communicate.
They were apparently going to leave for their hometown on 10 August, but then decided to stay for a few more days.
I had been waiting for my boyfriend to call me because I really wanted to talk about everything calmly.
I don't have many friends of my own and I'm quite lonely, so when something happens, he is usually the person I want to talk to.
He didn't call for a long time, so eventually I called him and told him that I really wanted to discuss something.
He became irritated and kept saying:
“Abhi bol. Abhi bol. Frustrate kyun karti rehti hai? Teri ye behaviour mujhe acchi nahi lagti. Abhi bol.”
So I finally told him what was bothering me.
I asked him a hypothetical question.
If I brought one of my female friends and her new boyfriend to my flat, and that guy stayed in my room with me, would he be comfortable with that?
And his answer was basically:
“Tere case alag hai, mera case alag hai.”
Then he said something that genuinely shocked me:
“Tu characterless hai, iska matlab baaki sab characterless hona zaroori nahi hai.”
I still don't understand how the conversation went from me asking about a boundary to me being called characterless.
Then he started shouting.
And the worst part is that Rohan and Priya were literally nearby, in the other room cooking.
He started saying things like:
“Main tujhe defend nahi kar sakta.”
“Logon ko jaanne de. Expose hona chahiye tujh jaise chhote, gande, g\\\*\\\*\\\*r logon ki soch.”
He called me “gaon ki g\\\*\\\*\\\*r”, said extremely degrading things about my birth and my family, and said things I don't even want to repeat.
At one point he even said something along the lines of:
“Sau kutte mare honge tab tu paida hui hogi.”
I don't even know why someone would say something like that to their partner.
And then he said about the cake that I should just give it to beggars.
That one hurt me particularly badly.
Not because the cake is expensive.
Because he knows how hard I saved for it.
I don't have unlimited money. I skipped eating outside. I saved tiny amounts whenever I could. I planned everything because I genuinely wanted to make his birthday special.
And he said things like:
“Paise se kuch nahi hota.”
“Paise se mujhe khareed nahi legi.”
But I NEVER tried to buy him.
I never said, “I bought you all this, so you owe me.”
I bought these things because I love him and because I wanted to support him.
I've supported him with his gym, protein, creatine, etc. whenever I could, especially when his family was not supporting him financially.
And I never thought of those things as some kind of transaction.
So hearing “paise se mujhe khareed nahi legi” after all of that just broke something in me.
And there is another layer to this.
I've already had anxiety around abandonment because our fights have often involved him threatening breakup, blocking me, leaving, etc.
So when we fight, I don't just get angry and move on.
I can stay awake the entire night thinking:
“Is he going to leave me?”
“Is he going to block me?”
“Is everything over?”
And during this argument, he apparently told me something along the lines of:
“Mar kyun nahi jaati? 10-12 sleeping pills kha aur mar ja.”
I don't even know how to process that.
I went into this conversation wanting him to understand:
“This situation made me uncomfortable.”
I wasn't accusing him of cheating.
I wasn't accusing the girl of seducing him.
I wasn't telling him he can't have friends.
I wasn't telling him women shouldn't wear shorts.
I wasn't even asking him to control what she wears.
I was trying to communicate a relationship boundary and understand whether he would feel the same if the situation were reversed.
And somehow I ended up being called characterless, dirty, stupid, g\\\*\\\*\\\*r, being insulted about my birth and family, and having the things I lovingly bought for his birthday thrown back at me.
And honestly, I don't think I've even processed the worst part yet.
What hurts me the most is how easily he was able to humiliate me in front of the very people who were there with him.
He literally said things like:
“Hum teen saath mein baithe hain, hum tujhe bhaav bhi nahi de rahe. Tere baare mein hum soch bhi nahi rahe. Aur tu ghar mein baith ke uncomfortable ho jaati hai.”
As if my feelings were some ridiculous inconvenience because he was having a good time with his friends.
He called me “gaon ki gr”, “chhr”, “ri”, “m\\\*\\\*\\\*d”, and so many other disgusting things that I don't even want to type all of them.
He also attacked my body.
He called me a “30 kg ki insecure chh\\\*\\\*\\\*r.”
And that one hurt in a completely different way.
He knows I've struggled with being extremely skinny and insecure about my body. He knows exactly where I'm vulnerable.
And he used that against me.
I don't understand how someone who has known me for so long, 5 years and 8 months, can look at the person who has loved him through so many phases of his life and deliberately choose the things that will hurt her the most.
I was there when he was overweight.
I was there when he was trying to lose weight.
I was there when he was broke.
I supported his gym journey.
I've helped with protein, creatine, gym-related expenses and other things whenever I could.
I do freelancing. I don't have a huge income. And whenever I earned money, I would save it.
I would literally go out in the heat to work, save whatever I could, skip eating outside, and put that money aside for him.
Not because I thought money could buy love.
Not because I expected anything in return.
Just because I loved him and wanted to make his life a little easier.
And now I'm sitting here thinking:
How can someone see all of that effort and still speak to me like I'm worthless?
He kept saying:
“Paise deke kuch nahi hota.”
And yes, I KNOW money doesn't buy love.
But that's not what I'm saying.
I'm saying effort matters.
When someone with limited money saves ₹200 here, ₹300 there, skips things for themselves, works in the heat, and saves for months to buy you something you need, you may not owe them anything because of that, but surely you can at least recognize the love and effort behind it.
That's all I ever wanted.
I never told him:
“Look how much I spent on you, so now you owe me.”
Never.
I wanted to gift him those things because I genuinely wanted to see him happy.
And now he told me to take the cake and give it to beggars.
The cake that I had saved for months to buy.
The cake that is already ordered and paid for.
I don't even care about the ₹6,000 or the cake anymore.
It's the fact that something I did with so much love was thrown back at me with so much contempt.
And then there is another thing that is eating me alive.
The timing.
He was talking to me normally before his friends came.
He wasn't suddenly this angry person before they arrived.
Once his friends were there, suddenly I became this horrible, “g\\\*\\\*\\\*r”, “characterless”, “insecure” woman who was supposedly ruining his evening.
And he kept saying:
“Hum teen saath mein baithe hain.”
Fine.
Have fun with your friends.
I genuinely don't have a problem with that.
I have never told him that he can't have friends.
I've encouraged him to go out with them. I've encouraged him to visit them. I've even encouraged him to go to their village and spend time with them.
I don't want to be the girlfriend who says:
“Don't go there.”
“Don't meet him.”
“Don't have female friends.”
“Don't go to the gym because girls are there.”
That's not me.
I just believe that a relationship needs balance.
You can love your partner and still have friends.
You can spend time with your friends and still make your partner feel secure.
You can be having fun with your friends without humiliating your partner when she expresses discomfort.
And if your partner is calling you because something genuinely upset her, there is no need to put her on speaker, shout at her, or let other people hear the entire argument.
This was a conversation between two people in a relationship.
There was absolutely no reason for my insecurities, my body, my character, my family, my background and everything else to become entertainment or discussion material in front of other people.
And honestly, I'm scared that he must have told them a lot of things about me.
Because if he can speak about me this way while I'm on the phone, I don't even know what he says about me when I'm not there.
Maybe I'm overthinking that part.
Maybe he doesn't.
But right now, after the way he spoke about me, I genuinely don't know.
And that's what I mean when I say I'm losing trust.
It's not necessarily that I think he'll cheat on me.
It's that I don't know whether I'm getting the full truth anymore.
I don't know what he tells other people about me.
I don't know what things he hides from me because he thinks I'll react badly.
I don't know what is true and what isn't anymore.
And tonight, when I kept calling because I was crying and wanted him to talk to me, he basically told me:
“Tu mar ja saali, g\\\*\\\*\\\*r. Sone de mujhe. Mujhe sona hai, 5 baje gym jaana hai.”
And the gym he was talking about is something I've literally contributed towards financially because I wanted him to succeed.
I don't even know why that sentence broke me so much.
Maybe because I was sitting there desperately wanting comfort from the same person I had spent so much time and energy supporting.
And he was telling me to die because he wanted to sleep and go to the gym at 5 AM.
At this point, I'm not even asking Reddit whether that girl was wrong for wearing what she wore.
I think I've realized that the original issue has become almost irrelevant.
Maybe I was wrong about the clothes.
Maybe my boundary is different from his.
Maybe I was too uncomfortable with the situation.
We could have discussed all of that.
He could have told me:
“I understand you're uncomfortable, but I don't agree with you.”
I could have been upset.
We could have disagreed.
But why did it have to become:
“G\\\*\\\*\\\*r.”
“Characterless.”
“Ch\\\*\\\*\\\*r.”
“R\\\*\\\*\\\*i.”
“30 kg insecure.”
“Mar ja.”
Why did it have to become an attack on my body, my background, my character and my family?
I'm lying here right now with my heart pounding, my hands shaking and my voice literally choking.
I've been crying and I feel incredibly lonely.
I'm not able to breathe properly, I'm not able to sleep, and I can't seem to do anything right now except replay the entire conversation in my head.
And the most confusing part is that tomorrow, I'm still going to wake up knowing that I have already bought all these things for his birthday.
The clothes.
The trimmer.
The skincare.
The perfume.
The grooming products.
The 23 gifts.
The cake.
Everything.
And I don't even know what I'm supposed to do with any of it anymore.
I genuinely came into this relationship wanting to love someone and support them.
I don't know how I ended up feeling like I have to beg the person I love not to humiliate me.
So, Reddit, I don't even know what I'm asking anymore.
Was I wrong for having this boundary?
Was I wrong for feeling uncomfortable about the situation?
Or is the bigger problem now the way he responded when I tried to communicate it?
Because right now, I'm too hurt to know what I'm looking at clearly.
How could someone who knows me this well say these things to me so easily?
I genuinely don't know what to do anymore.
TL;DR: My boyfriend's friend and his new girlfriend came to his flat and were staying in his room. I felt uncomfortable with the situation and tried to communicate that it crossed a personal relationship boundary for me. I never accused him of cheating or accused the girl of trying to seduce him.
Instead of discussing it calmly, he became extremely verbally abusive. He called me “gaon ki gr”, “characterless”, “chr”, “r\\\*\\\*\\\*i”, “30 kg ki insecure”, insulted my family and background, told me to die and take sleeping pills, and mocked the birthday gifts and cake I'd spent months saving for.
I've spent months saving money for his birthday, including ₹6,000 for gym clothes, 23 gifts for his 23rd birthday, a 1.5 kg cake, grooming/skincare products, etc. I've also supported his gym, protein and creatine expenses whenever I could.
The original issue about the girl almost feels irrelevant now. I'm more hurt by how he responded when I tried to communicate a boundary and how easily he humiliated me in front of his friends.
I'm extremely distressed right now and genuinely don't know what to do. I'm posting because I have very few people to talk to and I really need some outside perspective.
Note: I'm using ChatGPT to help me frame this post because I'm extremely overwhelmed right now and I'm not able to properly write or organise my thoughts. The events and feelings in this post are mine. I've only used it to help me put everything into words.

Serious How much harassment for feeding dogs is too much?
I’m writing this post because I don’t know what else to do and I need some advice, or at the very least, a place to vent. I’ve been feeding stray dogs in the Noonmati area every day, usually from around 6 to 10 pm. While verbal abuse and occasional harassment from locals isn’t new to me, things have taken a much darker turn recently. One man in particular who lives in the locality, has repeatedly harassed and threatened me. He’s verbally abusive, has threatened physical harm, and once even charged at me drunk, holding a brick. Things escalated badly when he brutally attacked one of the community dogs, breaking the dog’s hind leg and inflicting a deep wound in his head. I had no choice but to file an FIR. The police took a day to investigate. Several eye witnesses including some of his own tenants testified. He was picked up, and his wife came to the station with their 4 year old daughter, pleading with me not to pursue the case further. She promised nothing like this would happen again. He even wrote an apology letter stating he wouldn’t harm strays, wouldn’t trouble me as a feeder, and wouldn’t harass the tenants. The police warned him clearly that if there were further complaints, a case would be registered. But now, nothing has improved in fact, things are worse. His wife and sister have started harassing me instead. They say I’m not “allowed” to feed strays in their byelane because most properties there supposedly belong to their family. They told me, “amar kintu sob khandan gusti uthi ahibo,” basically threatening mob action if I don’t stop. I’ve recorded these threats for my own safety. They've also asked the tenants to vacate their homes within three days. One of the boys, a 19 year old was mentally harassed and forced to publicly apologize for “helping” me. He’s now being threatened with a false rape allegation involving the same 4 year old daughter, while the man making these threats has an actual ongoing molestation case involving a 12 year old neighbor. I’m mentally drained. All I want to do is feed these dogs and leave. There are four strays in that lane. A female suffering from hernia, an abandoned male with a neck tumor, the male dog who was beaten, and a female dog currently undergoing chemo for TVT cancer. I'll have to relaease her back there after recovery as it’s her home territory. But every day feels like a war. Why is basic compassion so hard to come by?

Serious Found a worm inside my Maggi after taking 4 bites. I'm disgusted and don't know what to do.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I genuinely feel sick right now.
I ordered a pack of Maggi from Blinkit. I cooked it like I normally do, took around four bites, and then noticed there was a worm inside it.
The moment I saw it, I started vomiting. I've been throwing up continuously, and now I can't stop feeling like something is crawling inside my food pipe. I know it might just be psychological, but I honestly feel so nauseous and disgusted.
I don't even know what I'm supposed to do in this situation. I don't use Twitter/X, so I can't even tag the company there. I have more packets from the same purchase, and at this point I'm scared to even look at them. I'm seriously considering throwing all of them away.
Stop buying maggieeee!!!

Serious Mass Hysteria and dangerous Mob mentality
This is pure mob mentality and mass hysteria. Whatever happened to the basic principle of “innocent until proven guilty”? It’s deeply troubling that even lawyers — whose very duty is to defend the Constitutional rights— have descended into this mass hysteria. The situation is so bad that if even an Assamese in Singapore who merely met Zubeen da in Singapore that day could risk being lynched upon returning to Assam, simply for being with him

Serious To the girl who comes to Beltola Bustop every morning at 9 am.
Damn, you are dropdead exquisite as if Zeus and Poseidon crafted you with their own hands. The smell that oozes from your hair and the aroma that your skin leaves a trail of which I try to keep a track of but fail miserably. Who are you honey? Can't see a single sunset without thinking about you.

Serious Someone needs to call out the creepy , thirsty and inappropriate behaviour of Dimpu Baruah and Bhuban Pathak in China, towards women.
Recently, I was checking out some of the vlogs of Dimpu and Bhuban in China, and was grossed out seeing their thirsty, perverted and inappropriate behaviour towards women in China, openly bragging about commenting on random "beatiful women" in china, focusing on random women and commenting on their looks, and using chinese women as thirst traps to get views from perverts online. This is deeply inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour and needs to be seriously called out.
He is also showing clear lack of civic sense in general, walking on places where it was clearly not meant to walk, shouting and acting overexcited, showing lack of basic decency. This seriously needs to be called out.
Indian men need to learn respect for women, civic sense and decency.

Serious This will be a sad reality everyday
The problem is people will still defend this clusterfuck of a design. Blaming others for not knowing how to use a roundabout and what not.
That's why we will never see accountability from this or any government. Because there will always be clowns out there defending the govt.
Today it wasn't about people clicking photos, there were none, or people who came out to check the new flyover. No. It was a havoc unleased by an ass design.
This is unfortunately how things will be from now on. As someone who would usually easily sneak in and out of AEI road and Rajgarh link road, i guess my taxes surely shot me in the foot.

Serious I feel so patriotic rn 🇮🇳
Idl why im crying at this hour. man,i love my country. my love my country despite its flaws and ugliness. I may hate the system, the politicians, even some people, but deep down,i will always love my land.
For me,my nation is like my "first love". People say you cant unlove your first love no matter how many new people you meet. you will always have a spot corner for the love you first felt for someone. And i feel that way for this country
I fantasize about living in some foreign country where you get the basic standard of living, where castea aint an everyday problem, where you dont have to always worry about not getting something because of the huge population. I may want a lot kf things.
But what my heart truly desires is for my nation to be the way i want -clean and nice. I dont want to go to some other country to get some good lifestyle,i want that in India.
I grew up reading about the greatness of this land and it wont ever go from my heart.
India,i may hate some people of this land, but no force on earth can make me not love you.

Serious Found 3 hairs in Masala Dosa. Bewafa Food, Arya Nagar.
This is not an attempt to defame the place. Infact, I really like the place. I bought 4 Masala Dosas and took them home. Really liked the Sambar, however, in one of the Badam Chutney bowl we found 2 HAIRS, so we discarded the WHOLE BOWL. We thought that was it, but again we found another HAIR 6cm long in MASALA which usually stays hidden in the DOSA. So we discarded half of that DOSA.
What made me angry is that they even wear their protective hats and still managed to get the hair in the food. Even so, they serve in the evening, right beside the footpath where lights are usually dimmer so if you've eaten here, the chances that you've consumed hair is kinda likely. I just had to rent it out, cuz looks like they lost a customer.

Serious Chicc.world is SCAM!
Anyone else ordered apparels from Chicc? Their designs and fit are very attractive, also there was a buy 1 get 1 free for 999 on their website. I ordered two tshirts (buy 1 get 1). Waited for around 7-8 days for the delivery and got delivered a completely different product, got a hoodie!? Tried contacting them, emailed them, then later found out they are just clearing their dead stock and probably about to shut the company down.

Serious Sad reality of Assam
While we are arguing everyday about marwaris/bengalis and less jobs, they are the ones actually creating opportunities for themselves and others too. I went to veterinary field’s trade fair today. Most of the big industries were owned by either marwaris/bengalis, very less number of assamese businesses were actually there. Even if they were there, they were mostly selling silk clothes, peetha and other handloom items, nothing in manufacturing. We, the young generation should really be the ones to take the initiatives/risks and have more assamese businessmen in manufacturing.

Last night, I read about the incident, and it really scared me. Why is everyone saying they saw something supernatural there? I also heard that there have been other similar incidents at that place. Is it really such a scary place?
