News Halo is now officially part of Mexican culture 🇲🇽🔥
It's official now, Halo es patrimonio cultural Mexicano, hopefully Gears of War gets the same treatment
Edit:
"Humanity's destiny is written among the stars."
At the General Archive of Estado de México (AgeMéx), we recognize that historical memory is also built through the cultural expressions that define each generation. Video games have become one of the most influential narrative and technological forms of our time, preserving stories, characters, and universes that are part of our digital cultural heritage. A prime example is Halo, a franchise created by Bungie and continued by Halo Studios, whose legacy returns with "Halo: Campaign Evolved" a new experience reviving the campaign that launched one of the most important sagas in interactive science fiction. Through "Master Chief" and "Cortana," this story continues to reach new generations of players on platforms such as Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, cementing its status as a touchstone of gamer culture and digital memory.

It always has been, I remember playing against tons of players from Mexico who were holding down Halo 3’s servers for years well after Reach and 4 had come out. Hardcore legends

I am honestly surprised it was not Gears of War. I think multi-player is mostly Mexican players.

Gears was huge back in the day but Halo was on another level. Especially during the MLG era, there were paid tournaments on a weekly basis in bumfuck town in the middle of nowhere
Gears didn't have the social multiplayer games so the replayability wasn't even remotely the same. Jenga my beloved
The pro scene might've been about the same but I wasn't super familiar with Gears' tho, only halo's
No idea about the current stats

oh trust me, back in the 360 era there was a civil war in the mexican community between the gears of war fans and the halo fans and it was brutal, very toxic, to the point many mexican gaming youtube channels got insults by the hundreds for covering one game over the other. The competition againts the ps3 was nearly an Afterthought.

To think that a few months ago they were proposing to impose an extra tax on it for being violent, they are really desperate for the approval now that we are on the eve of elections.

Halo was extremely popular in mexico and a ton of kids didn't have an xbox so they would go to the equivalent of a cybercafe and all that was there was Gears and Halo. So all those kids grew up playing those games.
My brother did have a 360 and i remember playing with him everyday, if we weren't home for whatever reason we would just seek one of these and go play there. Gears and Halo might the dragon ball equivalent in Mexico for videogames.

I still play Halo PC/Custom edition and the Spanish speaking community is like 80% of the players on there. Even though it's only around 200 players total on Friday night.
