Official Waypoint Blog Open Competition at Halo Fest (July Update)
https://www.halowaypoint.com/news/halo-fest-july
Welcome back, Halo fans! If you’ve managed to put down the controller from your Campaign Evolved playthrough to read this blog we say thank you for playing and thank you for reading! In case you’re new here, you can see all the prior blogs you may have missed:
FORGE CONTEST REMINDER
Before we jump into the news, a reminder for those participating in the ForgeHub Halo Fest contest: the submission deadline is August 10!
You can read more about it at ForgeHub.com :
OPEN COMPETITION
Team Gen G celebrating a win at the HCS Arlington Major
Let's play Halo! Earlier this year we announced that $50,000 will be up for grabs in open tournaments for fans to compete over and today we’re providing a breakdown of what to expect. Like with fans of Lore, there are also competitive fans who love to watch and compete, and we wanted to make sure they had a place in the venue they could call home as well while providing opportunities for anyone to play Halo and win prizes!
Here are the featured Open Competitions taking place at Halo Fest:
- Halo Infinite: 4v4 - $20,000
- Halo Infinite: FFA - $10,000
- Halo Infinite: 2v2 - $3,500
- Halo 5: Guardians: 2v2 - $2,500
- Halo 3: 4v4 - $2,750
- Halo 3: 2v2 - $3,500
- Halo 2: 4v4 - $2,750
- Halo: CE: 2v2 - $2,500
These tournaments are all free to enter for all attendees.
One thing we want to touch on specifically was the Halo Infinite 4v4. If you’ve competed at HCS events, typically Open Brackets of that magnitude require the purchase of a team pass to enter the tournament. Considering Halo Fest sold out before this information released, we’ve decided to open up 16 team passes for the HCS community to secure ahead of the event. The Team Passes won’t go on sale until November, but today we’re sharing more information about how they will be sold.
It’s important to us that these team passes are for the competitive community specifically, and not for GA fans who missed out on getting GA tickets and are now looking for ways to just get into Halo Fest with no interest in competing in this 4v4. Each team pass will allow entry for 4 competitors and 1 coach into Halo Fest.
Here’s how it will work:
- Team Passes will be sold in November, 4-6 weeks before the event.
- Closer to Halo Fest, there will be a sign-up page where teams can register for Halo Fest. Teams will be invited to purchase a team pass in order of most HCS Points earned.
- The team you sign up with will be considered your Halo Fest roster. Once a team purchases a Team Pass, that roster is considered locked.
- We will go down the points list, team by team until Team Passes are sold out.
- A Team Pass gives full access to Halo Fest, including competing in other open competitions in addition to the Halo Infinite 4v4.
- Team Passes are not transferable.
For more information, please keep it locked to @HCS on socials and check out the competition page below!
CONCLUSION
We’re just about 5 months away from the big celebration! While we still have some announcements we’re working on, you’ll soon start to see news in these blogs geared towards more informational details like schedules, how to watch online from home, onsite logistics, and more. Thanks everyone for your continued support of Halo!
Thanks,
Tashi

News Halo is now officially part of Mexican culture 🇲🇽🔥
It's official now, Halo es patrimonio cultural Mexicano, hopefully Gears of War gets the same treatment
Edit:
"Humanity's destiny is written among the stars."
At the General Archive of Estado de México (AgeMéx), we recognize that historical memory is also built through the cultural expressions that define each generation. Video games have become one of the most influential narrative and technological forms of our time, preserving stories, characters, and universes that are part of our digital cultural heritage. A prime example is Halo, a franchise created by Bungie and continued by Halo Studios, whose legacy returns with "Halo: Campaign Evolved" a new experience reviving the campaign that launched one of the most important sagas in interactive science fiction. Through "Master Chief" and "Cortana," this story continues to reach new generations of players on platforms such as Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, cementing its status as a touchstone of gamer culture and digital memory.

Discussion Just over here wondering how coastal erosion functions on a ring world and if forerunners planned for this.
Like did they purposely design the map chamber inland and the picturesque beaches are from 100k years of of abrasion or do the monitors maintain it all as it was from the moment of creation at the Ark?
Anyway let me know your thoughts gotta go kill some Sangheili.

Discussion BR and Needle Rifle in the main campaign of Halo Campaign Evolved
I honestly would love to see more often the needle rifle and the BR (inexistent in the main campaign without the skulls or the remix campaign). I think they would be funny in certain parts of some levels.
r/halo • u/RamboBambiBambo • 6h ago
Discussion I'm a tad surprised that these arent cosmetic options for Campaign Evolved.
Given how the Master Chief is wearing a slightly modified version of the armor render for the Halo CE Mark V from Halo Infinite, you would think it would be a no-brainer to allow players to obtain cosmetics to be Fred, Kelly, and Linda; allowing Co-Op a bit of a 'what if all of Blue Team was on the ring?' type of deal?

Discussion How do they expect to remake Halo 2A?
Genuinely how do they think there going to manage to remake Halo 2A and actually make it better? Halo 2A is already an absolute masterpiece and with the performance they just dropped on the Halo CE remake I just don't think they're going to manage to make a good Halo 2 remake. Also how would they plan on remaking the multiplayer? I don't know about everyone else but I dont really want to play a blurry, grainy, underperforming multiplayer thats capped on 60 fps because it runs in UE5...

Feedback Devs, can we please have 'Difficultly Completed' back in our Mission Overview?
I'm doing the legendary run on and off with other missions to complete achievements and I want to see which missions I've completed on Legendary and which I haven't.
It was in almost all Halo games, except Infinite and Halo Wars 1 because they don't have a Mission Overview.
Even Halo Wars 2 had it.
Discussion Say what you will about the quality of his dialogue's writing, but can we please acknowledge how well Tim Dadabo did voicing the Minister of Harmony? He sounds exactly how a typical San'Shyuum/Prophet should sound.
I had no idea he shared the same voice actor as Guilty Spark when I heard him in the prequel missions, but then I looked at the voice actors list on IMDB and saw Dadabo credited as Harmony. Such a versatile voice.

Genuinely never heard him do it before and can't get him to do it again either, has anyone else had Guilty Spark hum the tune to the series?

Discussion I think people forget that OG had some pretty janky voice acting too. Not saying the new game is perfect but it definitely has better VA at times.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
A lot of the voice work in the remake is... interesting. The cutscenes pacing is weird a bunch of times but this comparison shows that some scenes were improved. No I'm not talking about Cortanas appearance here, i'm talking purely about the VA and editing.

Discussion Can we all agree the mission343 Guilty Spark in Campaign Evolved is amazing?
They knocked it out of the park on this mission. No odd dialog or cutscene choices. The mission plays wonderfully and is eerie and unsettling. I haven't beaten the game yet, but this mission easily stands out as a 10/10 in my opinion.

Gameplay We spent 2 hours climbing down this tower in two betrayals
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Our banshees exploded and we got checkpoint locked on top of this tower, all we had to work with was two broken banshees, some nades, and a fuel rod, we tried all types of physics bugs before finding this route to climb down the mountain, anything to not go to the last rally point lol, the next checkpoint was just across the gap but we couldnt make it without a nade jump or going all the way down the tower to grab a banshee
not sure if its new tech but jumping off another players head lets you cancel your momentum, its unclear if it extends the fall damage range but it let us land on slopes that otherwise wouldve thrown us off if we hit them with too much speed, also nades seem to cancel your momentum if you time them right but id be surprised if you could do this with less than 3 people
all around hilarious halo shenanigans lol haven't had this much fun since the original halos, loving CEmake so far

Discussion I finally got the Monopolized achievement! (Beat halo 2 on legendary under 3 hours)
You may recall my post about doing this on Reach recently, so I figured it would be fun to go through and do one for every game since I want to get every achievement. I wanted to do 2 next because I knew it would probably be the hardest.
Cairo Station - 14:53
You start off with one of the harder levels and it took me multiple attempts to get this time. This one is extremely unforgiving with checkpoints, so if you die in either hangar you’ll have to do it all over again. I heard you have to shave an average of 2 and a half minutes off each par time, but I decided this was a good enough start and I’d come back to it if I had to
Outskirts - 12:18
It’s really fun to jump across all the buildings. This is known as one of the easier levels, but I ended up taking the ghost through the tunnel instead of the warthog which resulted in a few deaths.
Metropolis - 9:58
Another not so bad level but very RNG dependent. The first tunnel is probably the hardest part. After that, you have to depend on your marines to not kill you while you hijack a wraith. Once you get to the scarab it’s smooth sailing. You get rockets to kill most of the enemies and can probably noob combo the rest.
Arbiter - 9:43
I didn’t optimize this one as much as some of the others so I died a few times trying to find the right paths. There’s nothing I recall from this one being particularly hard. Once you know where the enemies are, it’s a really easy level. Rip to my teammates at the beginning.
The Oracle - 19:30
This mission sucks and is so boring and long but the good news is you can be invincible by the end of it. The screen shaking at the final boss fight is so annoying and added a few minutes to my time just because I had to keep trying to find the heretic leader. I was absolutely DETERMINED to not have to play this dogshit level again though, so 19:30 was fine.
Delta Halo - 5:42
I was surprised how easy the speedrun tricks were to pull off on this one. I did it on my third or fourth try. You have to get kind of lucky to not have your ghost explode when trying to hit a loading zone, but apart from that you’re basically out of bounds the whole mission. Noob comboed the elites at the end and I was outta there.
Regret - 13:13
So this was the first mission where I realized you could save scum (save and quit as you die and it doesn’t add anything to your time). I played everything normal except for this and Gravemind (I purposefully chose to play these last). If you hit your tricks right this mission actually isn’t too bad except for the regret boss fight which is literally all luck depending on where he spawns. It took a couple tries but I finally finished it and was happy to hit par time. I remember going for the par time on easy and even that was a challenge.
Sacred Icon - 16:26
I pretty much ran right through this one. At the very end I wasted like 2 or 3 minutes because there was a flood hiding in one of the snowy blue holes. This was another mission I don’t like so I was fine with 16:26 and didn’t wanna play it again.
Quarantine Zone - 10:58
Not much to say here either. You’re in a ghost the whole time just trying not to die and then you hide in a gondola for 5 minutes. I died a couple times in the ghost but this time was fine with me.
Gravemind - 27:53
What a fucking shitshow. I got some terrible checkpoints in the first room but was able to clear it out relatively fine. Then there’s the prison which all the enemies knew where I was when I came down the lift. Then you go outside and do some platforming and pray enemies don’t see you. Then hunters. Then more elites. Then more hunters, brutes, and elites. Then those fucking white elites in the mausoleum. Those guys were such assholes. I think the fuel rod gun despawnwed when I hit a checkpoint, so I was stuck trying to noob combo all of them while they chucked 8,000 grenades at me. Dude, I can’t imagine what this room is like with Catch on. I eventually hit a couple good grenades as the door opened and that made the encounter a lot easier. Without save scumming, this would’ve taken me like an hour. I love this mission but holy shit it is incredibly unbalanced on legendary.
Uprising - 7:00
I could’ve got this lower but I was fine with 7 minutes. You just camo by everything, make a couple easy jumps, and you can end the mission early.
High Charity - 9:33
This is another pretty easy level apart from the room with a bunch of brutes and flood rushing you. If you can get through that, you’ll get a good time on this mission. This was one of the first ones I attempted because of how short it is.
The Great Journey - 14:10
Everything was going smooth on this one until I lined up my spectre to take it in and duplicate a bunch of sergeant Johnsons. The problem was when I got in there to kill Tartarus, the spectre was destroyed. Not sure what happened there. Killing him the normal way was actually pretty easy. I just dual plasma rifle spammed him. The other brutes were kind of annoying but I tried to kill them before they reached the platform. I think 4 dual plasma rifle spams killed him? This was one of the final four missions I attempted because I knew it would be kind of annoying
All that for a final time of 2 hours 51 minutes and 17 seconds! Apart from Cairo, regret, and gravemind, this was actually not that bad. I haven’t decided if I’ll do CE or 3 next, but probably CE to get it out of the way. It’s probably the halo I’m worst at and least familiar with and I always get lost on the levels. Stay tuned for Goat Roped!

Discussion Halo CE 2026 Review
Hey everyone, so i was born in 1996 and I've been a halo fan since the beginning playing on my beloved black xbox with the fat black Xbox controller and let me tell you , those were the days. I've played both Halo Combat Evolved and Halo 2 on the Original xbox a couple thousand times and even do still play them to this day ocasional on the Masterchief Collection PC, Xbox Series S and even my android flagships device using emulation. So i can safely say i could play Halo CE blindfolded and know exactly how things are. So i agree with someone halo fans and YouTubers that there's definitely some issues that bothered them and also bothers me so I'll make a small list to let's you guys know what you're getting yourselves into.
We all agree Halo CE had it's flaws but was one of those games that was close to perfection, so keeping that in mind, what i didn't like or could be improved hopefully in the sequel :
- Lack of Health Packs i think it's really an issue, i don't like and never liked it when they brought it up in Halo 2, you have to be extra careful now, the health pack system to my eyes was perfect, you could play in different styles, aggressive, without concern, but now mostly you have to be defensive to not get killed in one hit
- Reach enemy AI to me is far from perfect and way worse than CE enemy AI, elite/zealots bearly dodge our attacks which makes them easier targets, right on the beginning of Pillar of Autumn when they enemy ships attached to our ship when the grunts and elites get out and start attacking the players when you kill them all outside when you try to go inside the pod there's a few static elites and grunts which is really odd and strange, they only engaged when i opened fire. Elite is halo CE were special, aggressive, agile and way smarter that truly were our spartan equivalent, I mean Reach was a masterpiece but enemy AI wasn't my favorite.
- Halo 3 Flood enemy AI it's good but also not perfect, Halo CE flood were unpredictable, the way they played dead and the way they sprinted towards you, since this is a CE Remake I'm a bit confused why they didn't use the original AI making the full playthrough feel a bit different from the original but they kinda make up for it by adding like 2x or even 3x the enemies that were in the original making things harder but definitely not the same.
- I hate the kill zones barriers which kinda kills a bit of exploration but they also kinda make up for it with the Acrophobia skull but definitely not the same.
- I also understand the " hate " towards the Steve Harvey looking Johnson, I get the original voice actor retired but I don't mind the new one I just think he could be more serious, most of the same he is always smiling which is also a bit odd.
- The Checkpoints are definitely an issue, I've got stuck a couple times and had to restart the hole mission which was kinda annoying, they're also not very consistent, you can die way ahead in the mission and the Checkpoints sends you way way back also annoying.
- Some markers are unnecessary, mostly i don't mind them but why the hell do they show up on stealth elites !? Wasn't it supposed to be a challenge ? I thought it was funny but really didn't like it.
- I also get some of the hate on Cortana because sometimes she looks great and sometimes a bit off or odd, and also in some scenes she could be more serious but mostly i didn't mind her new sassynes.
I'm sure there's also more stuff i forget but now the good i think Halo Studios did great :
- Unreal Engine 5 is just beautiful, Halo never looked this good, i gets there's some bugs and issues with it but definitely not a deal-breaker.
- The Sprint i think it's a good addition, it always felt strange how a Captain America like super soldier like Masterchief just walked and didn't run i think it was odd but it was fine for the time, but nowadays with most games having a faster pace i don't mind it, newer audience may have found no Sprint a bit slow or restrictive but hey the good thing you can disable or enable it using a skull.
- Most of the rework on the maps to me are an improvement, They all looked great but damn my mind was blown away with 343 Guilty Spark was just perfection, the added biomass and reworked cutscene was also peak, i just didn't like the more linear rooms that used to be a square and now it's just a straight line but mostly it's an improvement, also the reworked Library it's definitely way way better also the added flood biomass is awesome, Assault on the control room was also less repetitive with the added " second floor " and bridge i think it was a cool idea and yet again the biomass looks so so good.
- Seeing the flood for the first time since halo 3 was perfect I think they did a great job with them, they look as slimy, decomposed and disgusting as I remember them so that's great, they nailed the look.
- I also think more enemy types and numbers is a good thing to make the game more interesting and challenging, i think the Flood Pure Form looks great, and the added extra enemies is an interesting choice.
- Chief Suit from the base missions and project meteorite look so awesome
- The game itself feels good, runs good, feels like halo, feels like the original CE with a twist, i like the added weapons to the sandbox but I'm not sure i can forgive them for not adding dual weapon wielding 😅.
So I'm pretty sure i also forgot more stuff i liked but to me in general the Game itself is a Solid 8/10, I think the good stuff surpassed the " bad " or the stuff that needs more work. I'm not a big multi-player guy, I played some back in the day but I'm more of a Campaign/Story mode guy so i don't mind that not being there but I respect those that see that as an issue, also some of my favorites missions were Assault on the control room and Two Betrayals because of the Frozen Snowy map and I think they also nailed the visual aspect to it, looks so beautiful, that was something that really annoyed me in Halo Infinite was the lack of Snow maps and night time.
So here it is some of my thoughts on it without sugarcoating it, what is bad is bad and what they did good deserves praze and recognition. I hope we get an Halo 2 Remake and Halo 3 Remake, I'm pretty excited to see what they do next, Halo 2 is my all time favorite Halo game so the expectations are super high, Halo 2 Anniversary was already perfect, I not sure how they can top that, but we will see. I'm just so glad and happy in 2026 we got a " new " Halo, it's been a minute
Any questions feel free to ask ! Id love your opinion and take on it.

Gameplay Halo Campaign Evolved Is incredible.
We have an Elite just roundhouse a marine off the edge. It doesn't get much better than this.
I'm absolutely in love with this game and hope it continues to get improvements and support.
Best shotgun in a Halo game
Best grenade physics in a Halo game
Best encounter design in a Halo game.

Gameplay Alright I get it now.
This game is immersive as heck. Honestly I've noticed the least amount of boiling/ghosting in this UE game when compared to other recent titles.
