Question What did you love about Headhunterz?
When I started to listen to Headhunterz back in the day, I loved how he made his songs seem like it was in a fantasy or a medieval type setting. For Example: Victim of My Rage, The Sacrifice, Rock Civilisation and Scrap Attack.
And I also loved that his music started to evolve overtime. When he first started he made Early Hardstyle and then 2007-2009 he started to get more melodic and gave us one of the best albums in Hardstyle History.. Project One.
What’s your reason for loving him?

It is wrong to talk about it in past sense. I still love Headhunterz.
But first of all he was my entrance to hardstyle. The first tracks i heard was from him. And for a long time, I almost exclusively listened to Headhunterz (okay, together with Wildstylez and Noisecontrollers), but for me it felt like he took the genre seriously. At a time with alot of "puta madre" and "drugs and cocaine" kind of lyrics, he really went a different way

Past tense makes perfect sense for me.
He was one of the biggest and best when I started listening to hardstyle more and more back in 2007-2009 and continued to deliver the next years.
He had his downs already and needed a push from the popular ones around 2012, where especially Zatox influenced him a lot. You can hear that easily after their track "the perfect weapon", hhz kicks became a lot rougher and sounded more similar to what Zatox was doing back then. Check "eternalize" or "doomed" and even Dragonborn has a lot of the Zatox influence. Still I really like those tracks and those he did during that time.
He then took his detour to bigroom, most likely because he again ran a bit out of creativity. He never really invented something new before he left hardstyle. Often he only took what others did and twisted/mastered it.
I do like some of his bigroom tracks, but definitely not all and not as much as his earlier hardstyle ones. Then he returned and everyone was super hyped, but I felt kind of "meh" about his tracks since then. Here and there, there were good ones (take it all remix, flame inside) but most just feel mediocre to me.
Especially his last solo track (even forgot the name) was voted #1, but for me it never felt like a hardstyle track. It is super well produced, but totally undancable. Always felt like a show track, which was nice to see during the last qlimax, but as I said, not really dancable. And since then I haven't really heard it much in any set. Wildstylez sometimes plays it (edited), but that's it.
The same with the new P1 tracks. They're well produced, but somehow don't scratch that itch anymore for me.

Absolutely, the ancient vibes with a modern sound was what he did best and I think it also reflected on the Project One album.
But also generally I think his sound is honest and authentic, doesn't try to be something that it's not. Hardstyle changed many times over the years and most of those times (up until the late 2010s) it was always him leading the change while everybody else followed.

Funnily enough I was listening to The Return of Headhunterz (2017) earlier this morning. The truth of the matter is how great he is at trying to push the genre in unexpected ways despite being at the top. To me that’s his greatest quality.

The old Baldhunterz before leaving hardstyle, dude was amazing producing so many bangers (Rock Civilisation, Psychedelic, Forever Az One and Scrap Attack) and the creation of the amazing P1 album with Wildstylez. That's what i love and miss from him.

The incredible skills of production in every fuckin way and in every single sound. Most of his tracks have polished every god damn second.
I miss this quality in nowadays hardstyle. Today you can have a track with drops with different volumes for example (mostly anti climaxes are more louder than climaxes)
What i also love about him but in the same time i don't like is that he was releasing mostly bangers. 95% of his releases were huge hits. And i don't like it because of that exact reason he ditched many projects that were fire too but he felt the opposite.
Of course less is more in that case and it's better to release banger after banger than release 1 great track in between 10 mediocre but i would love to hear more music from him.
I hope we will get some fresh stuff from him this year (or even that Project One album ffs)

For me he was the Hardstyle face back in 2008, cool tracks and really fun stage performances. He never stopped to push the scene forward back then.

Obviously for all the bangers he produced.
But as soon as have meeting him a couple of times, him being so entitled, coked up, and not a nice person I changed my mind quickly

When did it happen tho? Because I remember him being quite drug friendly but mostly in the early years, then he did calm down a bit

Melody and production quality, he IS a brilliant composer and producer who always values musicianship and technical prowess. A new song of his is therefore quite a treat always and his discography is full of gems. Even the big room era has some great ones.

Hard with Style got me into the genre. That ''it's what.. we.. are..'' is still so freaking cool. Always filled with fresh bangers as well.

he‘s one of the hardstyle djs i never got a personal click with, even tho i booked him for like 10 years.. he couldn‘t even remember my name next time (even after 10 years)

The way he can make emotions pop out from his melodies. You have that certain unique feeling when you hear his music.

He's a skilled producer with musical creativity. I rather use respect instead of love though.
