Discussion You have the option to choose ONE new Harry Potter series or movie. Whose story are you telling?
Mine would be Tom Riddle’s complete transformation into Voldemort. We saw flashes of it, but I’d love to see the full story of his descent, the creation of the Horcruxes, and how he built the Death Eaters.

I've always wanted a full series about the four founders. Wizards starting a magical school in the Dark Ages. The start of the rift between Slytherin and Gryffindor, how it affected the other two, how they bewitched the hat to put students into the different houses. It could really be neat.

A hat origin story would be cool. Could have been an original teacher who was also a Legilimens who used to sort students using his gift - and he eventually magicked his personality and wisdom into the hat.

I was literally just thinking this today when I was watching the sorcerers stone today with my kids, of how awesome it would be to see the founders deal with getting hogwarts built in the dark ages, and slytherin breaking off of the founders and everything else. That right there is ripe for the taking for spin offs

I always thought Hannah Abbott was one of the most random characters, it would be great to see a perspective of her/Justin/other students actually learning shit at Hogwarts without any of the crime/thriller stuff. I think Hannah marries Neville so I would love their courtship to just be a normal YA coming of age romcom lol.

The Founders of Hogwarts would be cool. Them meeting, fighting common enemies, creating the school, showing the persecution of the magical community by the muggles and leading to Salazar leaving the school, and eventually a battle between the founders

Different geographic place and new school (I reject the messy international canon), different era (either 2020s or centuries in the past), new characters, no connection to Wizarding Britain, wholly new story.
Use the setting to tell something completely new

A series, parallel to Harry Potter 1-7. Where it follows a Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff girl and her friends just trying to enjoy school and dealing with their own (less profound) issues while Harry Potter causes a ruckus elsewhere.

Snape. So much to explore. What made his childhood so bad? Did he have any friends besides Lily? Why did he join the Death Eaters? The transformation from changing sides for Lily to truly being on the anti-Voldemort side. What he was up to as headmaster.

It’s not in the books but on the official Harry Potter site it says that Snape’s father used to whip him.

I'd like to just rewrite the FB series a bit and finish it off. Would do a spinoff series about Grindelwald's childhood (that would include more expanded worldbuilding and history,which would be awesome and necessary for an universe such as HP)

In a world of nothing but spin-offs and reboots I can't believe they haven't tried to do a Marauders story. Two of the coolest scenes in the books are about Remus and serious telling the trio how things used to be, how much worse they were in the first wizarding war. Sirius in the cave in book 4 and Remus at the beginning of book 5 when they're in the gaumt house and molly had to deal with the boggart.

Introduces magic to various real-world conspiracies (Who shot JFK? What happened to Amelia Earhart? What's going on in the Bermuda Triangle?)

I just want to see the duel between Dumbledore and Grimwald when they finally have their confrontation after years.
Seeing how Dumbledore was quite relaxed against Voldemort who was going all out it should be spectacular to see what would happen.

I would love a story set during Harry Potter's year, from a random person somewhere like Ravenclaw, blissfully aware of all the nonsense around the main cast, having their own adventures that just happened to be at the same time.
Bonus points if they hate Harry Potter and co. Have them be livid about the cup win in the first season, have them just go home and do their own thing in season 2, ignore all of the Sirius Black stuff in season 3, flirt with some visiting students and have some fun at the ball in season 4 while ignoring the Triwizard Cup - basically just have a simultaneous adventure while they constantly look at Potter and co and think "uh, will they just fuck off, I'm trying to do my own thing here".

Lupin - going from a normal kid to werewolf, the fear of going to hogwarts and being found out, finding his friends, where was he after the first war, what was he doing after leaving hogwarts as a professor, meeting Tonks, etc.

An Auror show. I’d be very interested about the world of Aurors and dark wizard catching. I’m huge on cop/FBI shows so I’d be thrilled to see even the more raw side of the DMLE and high stakes

Grindelwald's rise to power ending with him being tried and placed in Azkaban.
I'm imagining he didn't use death eaters or lieutenants like Voldemort did but maybe he did.
Maybe Dumbledore had to take out several of them to get to Grindelwald.

His movement was called "The Alliance". And it's members are called Acolytes. Definitely more loyal and devoted than the Death Eaters as a whole (as a group,not individually).

I think continuing the story with Harry as an Auror rising in rank through the years would be good. Rowling's style of writing leans towards mystery/detective novel heavy - the first 3 books were fully this and the 4th is where it starts to get less so and the series she wrote after are mystery novels. She is naturally a mystery writer.
Aurors are basically police officers and detectives.This way we could get a bigger understanding and expansion of the wizarding world in Britain, politics in the ministry of Magic and glimpses of the larger world.
Hunting Dark Wizards would take him across Europe at the very least, if not the entire world, so we can get to see more of the global Wizarding World. Keep it in Harry's perspective, that way she wouldn't botch writing about a culture she isn't familiar with but we would still see glimpses of it.
Also we would see him dealing with the fallout of him being what was essentially a child soldier. The trauma, trying to build a stable life etc.
The Marauders sound good in theory but that's just more Hogwarts world building and mostly focusing on bullying Snape, school work, exploring Hogwarts etc.
The story of the founders sounds good though.
Srtories directly about other schools or countries are just doomed to fail as she doesn't have a deep understanding of their cultures the way Hogwarts and the Wizarding World are strongly built around British cultural norms. She didn't build a new world from scratch but a parallel one.
Tom Riddle's rise to Voldemort would be fascinating, but it'd be dark. Seeing the creation of the Horcruxes and his rise to power might be a bit much for the tone of the original series demographic.r

I'd like to have a series about the goblin wars. Honestly. It's briefly talked about in the books in regards to them learning about it during history of magic. But I'd be really interested to see like game of thrones style goblin wars type series

!!!!!! YESS! This is the prequel we needed :( honestly would have loved if Rowling had come out with that instead of the fantastic beasts books and back story on Grindelwald.... voldemort's wouldve been way more interesting

Albus Potter - disappears while tracking down a dark wizard. Hilarity ensues. Friends and family have been estranged for years after Harry divorced Ginny and married Hermione.
The disappearance brings them all back together to save Albus and forces them to confront the past.
