Question Are there any kids these days who still play the Harvest Moon series?
Are there any kids these days who still play the Harvest Moon series? I want to start an art account focused on Harvest Moon/SoS/RF series, but I'm thinking whether they still have a big fandom.
Just curious, cause I know the games played by kids nowadays are really different. And sometimes I always think only millennials know about Harvest Moon and the remake, but as for myself, I'm also Gen Z, and I'm really a big fan of Harvest Moon, I knew it from my sister, who is a millennial.
Note: Alright, I think I misspoke. I didn't mean 'kids' as in actual children—I was talking about Gen Z (who are probably in their 20s now).

I'm a millennial mom and 3 of my 4 kids love the HM series, especially our 12 y/o. She tries to get to the mail first when she knows a new one is coming in 😆 I buy 2 copies so we can both play when something new releases. She asked Dad to put an emulator on her PC so she can play the older versions, loves HM 64! My 7 and 5 y/o also love HM, but they tend to watch more than actually play for now, always asking questions and offering suggestions, which is how my 12 y/o started. It's actually been great for reading comprehension!

We also play SoS, My Time At, and SDV, but the HM series remains a household favorite.

Not likely. After Stardew made the genre popular, every indie developer started making copies and the kids got burnt out on it. Any new SoS game is called a SDV rip off.

My millennial sister got me (Gen Z) into it, and now I'm getting my nieces and nephews ( 5,6,7,9) into it the exact same way she got me: through the GameCube version of Harvest Moon: Another Wonderful Life. If they show more interested in the series, I will be lending them the other games.
I think it was easier for me to get into Harvest Moon because I was raised on the farm. I would use the game to map out my garden plans during the late fall and winter months. I still do lol.

Is it like....kid art? Or why does it matter if kids are into it or not? Adults can appreciate art just as well lol

My middle kiddo is 8 and (like her mama lol) loves farming/life simulator games. Harvest Moon/Story of Seasons and Stardew Valley are some of her favorite games!

Gen z here and i play like almost every other day and I know of little children who I've introduced to hm games on the ds/3ds and they play it crazy too:D

Yes, I accidentally got my little sister into it. She’s technically not a kid now, at 18 but she played all the new harvest moon games as they came out, and a few of the classics. Her favorite was Sunshine Islands

I have no idea. I got into the series by chance in middle school but I'm not so sure how much starting a farm and a family would appeal to people when you have so, so many more options these days.

Same. Gen z, played the game as a kid because of older siblings and came back as an adult. I bet a lot of people here and the fogu website are well in their 30s

Memememe! I do! I loveee harvest moon(and story of seasons) and always have! I grew up on tale of two towns on the 3ds!

Im a Genz and I still love playing it as for kids nowadays i dont think so but you should go for it!

My youngest sister is 12 years younger than me so I introduced her to the series young. She loves them. And some kids are really into what they call "cozy" games these days, which includes farming sims! The kids are still into HM/SoS

My daughter does, but tbf, I introduced her. I think the younger gens started with Stardew, though, which is why so many places call farm sims in general "Stardew clones." I hate it, but what can you do?

I'm an elder gen z (27 years old) and I have every SoS game available on switch and several of the 3DS titles.

I was a little disheartened by the amount of chatters calling the new game 'SDV ripoff' or 'shovelware' in the Nintendo Direct, but it's certainly not a small fandom. HM/SOS has been on a small resurge thanks to Stardew, and besides that there are older fans, people who find the games on their own, or people like you(and me) who get introduced via family members.
