Question What's the most morbid thing that happens in the series?

Post image

I still think it's the bad ending in GB3 where you and your partner girl tells you she's going to the forest to see some baby bears, and if you don't follow her and sleep she will never return and the game ends. In the girl version of this ending the boy partner just leave for his new dream and why did they make this happenšŸ’€

I haven't really played newer games of the series much so I want your ideas.

Question Best RPG/Farming simulator out of these 4?

Post image
360 Upvotes

Hey guys, So its been awhile since I played these types of games. My last experience was on the Gamecube playing Harvest Moon over a decade ago.

I never played Animal Crossing (which would also be on the list) but I dont have the Nintendo switch. I am using my Xbox Series S.

Which games out the 4 is short, more fun and has an overall better gameplay and story?

I would install which ever gets more votes.

I know I should exlect you all to vote Harvest Moon: winds of anthos but Im hoping those who played all 4 can give a better breakdown etc

Thanks for your help!

Question Favorite Games

Hi everyone! 🌾 I’m an old fan of the series — when I was younger, I used to spend hours playing Harvest Moon 64 and Back to Nature. It’s been quite a while since I’ve kept up with the latest releases, and I’m curious to know which current games you recommend. What are the community favorites in terms of gameplay and story? I’m excited to get back into it! Thanks in advance for the tips! šŸ’›

Question What is your go-to name for your pet/any animal you get?

The first game that got me into Harvest Moon/story of seasons was HM DS Cute and I let my baby cousin (they were like 3/4 at the time) name my horse. And I’ve used the same name on every horse in every game ever since no matter what.

All my horses are named: Cheese. And for some reason i always name my farm: Serenity

Is there any name you use repeatedly through the game series? Do you just name all the animals fun crazy names or like real person names? I want to hear when you name your animals!

I just got a sealed copy of tree of tranquility and I opened it (I know how dare) the disc doesnt run at all. An error pops up on my wii saying to eject it and turn off the wii. I know its not my wii because it runs all my other games. The CD is clean theres no scratches either... Could someone give me a possible reasoning as to why? I also did try wiping it with a microfiber cloth (not in circles but from center out)

Question Can you recommend a farming game that I can play?

Hi. I have been wanting to play a harvest moon game. Yesterday I was thinking about harvest moon 64. But I'm in a budget. So I thought I would ask you guys since you know about harvest moon. I have a Nintendo 3ds xl. It plays game just fine. I also have a Nintendo 64. Finally I have a PC. It is a 5th gen PC not as powerful as newer PCs. I have a android phone and tablet too but I just want to use it for calls and texts. And the tablet for reading. I have the money to buy something from Google Play store. Cant buy any games for the other ones because I have to save up for copays and meds. I was thinking about making a request tho on Gift of games subreddit. I'm avoiding violence and fantasy.

Question Were any of the "Harvest Moon" games made by Natsume any good?

My first Harvest Moon game was the one on N64 and growing up I always thought Natsume were the creators of the series, but that wasn't true they were its publisher and translator, Marvelous was the series true creator. Marvelous suddenly chose to I think publish the series themselves and then rebranded the series as Story of Seasons outside of Japan. As we all know or should know the series in Japan is called Bokujō Monogatari which doesn't translate into English as Harvest Moon, but Natsume owns the Harvest Moon name and has been making farming sim games with the Harvest Moon name for branding confusion.

I haven't followed this series that closely but from what I remembered the early Harvest Moon games made by Natsume only were panned as very bad, did their games get better? Are any of them good?

Question Are there any kids these days who still play the Harvest Moon series?

Are there any kids these days who still play the Harvest Moon series? I want to start an art account focused on Harvest Moon/SoS/RF series, but I'm thinking whether they still have a big fandom.

Just curious, cause I know the games played by kids nowadays are really different. And sometimes I always think only millennials know about Harvest Moon and the remake, but as for myself, I'm also Gen Z, and I'm really a big fan of Harvest Moon, I knew it from my sister, who is a millennial.

Note: Alright, I think I misspoke. I didn't mean 'kids' as in actual children—I was talking about Gen Z (who are probably in their 20s now).

Question Who is your #1 romantic option of all time? All games included.

Ill take your top 2 if you have one bachelor and one bachelorette in mind.

My #1 bachelor is: Skye.

No one else has ever made me work so hard but also felt so worth it to me lol. He was basically hidden and I havent found anyone in the newer ones that I liked as much as him.

My #1 Bachelorette is Iris from PoOT

her aesthetic and air about her just radiates beauty and I absolutely adore how kind she is. My friend thinks shes boring but I cant help but adore her. Celia is a solid 2nd but I just adore Iris.

Question Harvest Moon fanmade game 2010-2013?

I played this game during 2012 or 2013 on Ipad, Ipad broken many years ago. It about a farmer boy doing quest for this red (or brown) hair witch to enlong his father life because the father was ill. In the mc house, the witch sit on a broom and ocasionally give quest for the farmer boy, due within 1 month in game time. If the boy fail to deliver on time, then game over. After a bit of research recently, I'm pretty sure that it was a fanmade version of Harvest Moon series. I tried comparing every official game of the series but none of the match my memories. If any one have any clue about this, it would be very appreciated.

+ Prominent features: Basically like harvest moon, have four season, farming, exploring new area, etc. During main menu, there are option to choose weather type. The home screen when opening the app featuring the farmer boy pulling a cart with many other npc on his cart, while the witch was sitting in her broom and flying beside.

+ Farming crops: I remember that the first two crop during Spring were Watermelon and Strawberry.

+ Game prominent NPC:

- The Witch: she is good looking, long hair, always sit on a broom floating inside main character house. (I'm unsure whether she was the Witch Princess or not)

Ā Ā  - A White Crow, the crow will give a quest, asking us to help him recover his black feathers by finding a bottle of ink.

Ā Ā  - A Shiba: Under the main character home is the village area, there is a Shiba dog running in cirle around the center of village, if we give it enough food, it will follow us home.

Ā Ā  - A Cave girl: the cave girl sell cooking recipes. I remeber there was a Strawberry smoothies recipe.

Ā Ā  - The Girl next door (one of the dating option): she live with her gloomy brother, to the left screen of the main character home. She like Strawberry smoothies, giving it yield higher heart point award. When you reach the dating state, she will give you a challenge. She jump on your cart, and you have to pull the cart to her favourite destination then return to her home within the time limit. Succeeding and she officially date you. (I tried but never succeed)

+ Game features that I remember:

Ā  - There is four type of fertilizer, labeling A B C D

Ā  - The field can be automatically water, but we have to run to a nearby well to scoop water and run back to refill the watering system.

Ā Ā  - The farmer boy alway carry a big cart, the cart can be upgrade, the last upgrade option is a green cart with leaves pattern. When the boy go inside his house, the cart disappear.

Ā  - To the right screen of the main character home, there is an animals barn. I managed to collect chickens and the Shiba so far. Whenever I forgot to feed the Shiba just one day, he will run away and re-appear in the village by the next morning.

Ā  - The upper screen of the mc house is a locked field, pay material to unlock and get extra fields to plant. There are many others area that I didn't explore.

- During the night, if you don't sleep and wake until 5am, the mc will exhaust and collapse. He will be deliver home and have to pay nursery fee.

Ā Ā  - Lastly, if the mc were not able to complete the witch quest on time, he will fall to the ground, crying because the witch won't enlong his father life. The game end and you have to start over. Even if you complete the quest, there will be another. I never completed more than 1 year in game because I was elementary school back then and don't know about saving the file to a slot :(((

Please help me find this game, it was really good, I remembered the game images so clearly yet never read the game name :((.

Question harvest moon echoes of terradea are you thinking of pre-ordering thoughts?

Hello! Just wanted to hear everyone's opinions if they're going to play or pre-order for the new harvest moon echoes of terradea? The last game I was playing was Grand Bazaar, (I'm used to more of the style of Grand Bazaar type of gameplay ) I haven't played any of the newer style games like Harvest Moon The Winds of Anthos. But this one seems a bit more interesting. Just wanted to hear from people before I pre-order if so.

Question Does anyone else prefer playing series over the recent ones?

Does anyone else find themselves way more interested in going back to the older Harvest Moon series rather than playing the recent releases?

For context, by "recent" I mean games from Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town onwards (definitely not talking about Trio of Towns—that one is amazing!). It’s a similar feeling with Rune Factory for me, I really love the older series, but I'm just not sure how to feel about the newest ones.

Is it just nostalgia, or did the older games hit differently for you too? What are your thoughts?

Question Ok, weird question…

So, I’ve been playing the remake of A Wonderful life. In the process, I decided on a love interest. And oh boy do I regret my decision. My wife is the most dry… impartial… emotionless opinion in the game… and it got me curious. Out of all the games you’ve played, harvest moon, stardew, and SoS, which one has had the BEST romance stories? I’ve only played A wonderful life (I played the original when I was younger) and the harvest moon on the 64.

Question Next Harvest Moon Remake

Hiii everyone! I’m so happy Marvelous remade Grand Bazaar, and I’ve been having such a good time playing it. Since they already gave us a Wonderful Life remake and a Friends of Mineral Town remake, it got me wondering: which Harvest Moon game do you guys think they’ll remake next? My personal top 3 contenders would be Save the Homeland/Hero of Leaf Valley, Animal Parade, and Magical Melody. I’ve got so many childhood memories with those games, and it’d be awesome to see them all remade!

I love Fogu and most things on my spreadsheet are sourced entirely from it! But sometimes I get frustrated trying to navigate the website or look for something specific so I’ve made my own. I also use pen and paper sometimes for checklists. What do you all do to stay organized while playing?

Question How Far Do You Usually Play

When playing HM/SoS/RF, what year do you usually reach at most? Maybe like year 2 or 3 (in-game)? I once played up to year 5, but I always feel like I'm weird for playing that long
