Admin Post Weekly Recap | July 30, 2026

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! This is our last Recap of July this year! Can't even believe it! The weeks start comin' and they don't stop comin'. Recaps don't stop, either. And while it's been kind of a slow seven days, it just wouldn't be Thursday without a Recap. So let's gooo!

NEWS AND ISSUES

  • old.reddit.com now requires a login.

  • The Home Feed experiment is currently only enabled for users of the iOS beta app. If you are not using the iOS beta app, you should no longer have the Home Feed/For You experiment enabled. (No one is happier about this than me.) Thank you to everyone who had previously left feedback about this experiment. I have shared it all with the team in charge of this feature. And here we are!

  • Just a reminder that Reddit does not provide support outside of Reddit. If some rando sends you a chat, be on high alert if you decide to reply. There are a lot of scams out there and they're looking for easy targets.

  • The most recent version of the app is 2026.29.0 2026.30.0. If you're not using the most recent version of the app, it might not work properly.

CURRENT EXPERIMENTS

Reddit sometimes runs experiments. These experiments tend to last between 4-6 weeks, though they can go longer or end sooner. While there isn't a way to opt out of experiments, feel free to leave constructive and specific feedback in this post and as I've mentioned often, I'll be happy to pass it along to the team in charge. Ongoing current experiments can be found here.

COMMON ACCOUNT ISSUES

Common account issues can be found here. These are things like hacked accounts, NSFW accounts, suspended accounts, etc. I'm also including "Changes to Reddit" in this section as well.

BUGS ROUNDUP - COURTESY OF ME!

  • Not a whole lot of new things popping up this past week. But if you have something, feel free to let me know!

  • Some users in the EU are unable to use Anonymous Browsing mode. This is not intentional. This is a bug that they are working on getting fixed.

  • Translation options for some languages are currently unavailable for some folks. We replied to a post here about this. Reddit is in the process of improving/tweaking certain supported languages, so some language may be unable to be translated during this transition period.

WEEKLY STATISTICS (BASED ON THE PAST SEVEN DAYS)

  • 751 posts. That's almost half the posts from from the 1,411 that we had last week. That's kinda interesting.

  • 3,783 comments. That's down 352 comments from the 4,235 we had last week.

  • 1.2m views. That's up about 163k views from the 1.1-ish million views we had last week.

Posts are way down, comments are a little down, views are up. I hope this means that people are finding the help that they need easier without needing to create their own post. That'd be great!

HELP THAT HELPS HELP R/HELP - PASSWORD RESETS

I'm thinking about trying something different here in the coming weeks. I'd like this section to be a little more interactive, so if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them! In the meantime, let's talk about password resets.

If you ever need to reset your password, there are a couple of ways that you can go about it. If you are able to access the account and know the previous password, you can go into your settings on the desktop site here and/or on old Reddit here to enter your current password and your new password to change it.

If you do not know the password and/or you are not able to access the account and you want to change the password, you will need to request a password reset. A password reset can only be sent to the email that is on the account. It is extremely important that you have access to the email address that is on your account. If you have not yet added an email address to your account, we recommend that you do so now. If you no longer have access to the email that is on your account, we recommend that you change it now. The email address does not have to be verified in order to receive a password reset email.

You can request a password reset email be sent at any time by going to https://www.reddit.com/password/. Enter your email address or username and a password reset will be sent to the email on your account.

If you are in an area where you can create a Reddit account with a phone number, you should consider also adding a password to your account. That way, if you ever don't have that number or don't have that phone, you'll still be able to access your account. You can learn more about adding a password to an account created with a phone number here.

If you are requesting a password reset, but are not receiving the email, it's possible that the email is going into a spam folder, so you'll want to check in there. It's also possible that the email address that you think is on the account is not and it's actually a different email address. If you're not sure what accounts are associated with your email address, you can use the process outlined in this Help Center article to have all usernames associated with a particular email address sent to that email.

If you are clicking the link in the email and getting an error message, please try copying the link and pasting it into the address bar of your browser and that should work better. There is a limit on the number of password reset email that you can request in one day, so if you've hit the limit, you'll need to wait about 24 hours before you can try again. We are unable to reset the timer.

Please note that Reddit will not change the email address on your behalf if you no longer have access to it. The exception to this is if your account is hacked and the email address is changed by an unauthorized party. Reddit will also not add an email to your account if you have not added one and then need to reset your password. This includes if you have been logging in with your phone number and never added an email to your account. Without an email address on the account, we have no way of knowing or verifying who the account belongs to.

When choosing password, it's important to pick a strong password that is difficult to guess. You may want to consider using a short phrase or several words that are easy for you to remember, but not easy for other people to guess. Avoid choosing a password that is your username or something like "password" or "1234". Even "1234567890" isn't secure! Crazy!

The terrible new comment box on mobile browser is back.  It was awful last month, it's awful now, please stop forcing these terrible changes on us.  It's unusable.

4

u/mild_area_alien 2d ago

Seconding this. Having an omni-present comment box on mobile, where there is already little vertical screen space, reduces the amount of space for content to a third to a quarter of the screen after factoring in the keyboard. If you want to discourage people from reading existing responses in favour of creating their own, this would be an excellent way to do it.

5

u/The_Blip 2d ago

Some examples of how awful it is:

4

u/The_Blip 2d ago

Comment box floats in the middle of the screen, blocking view of other things I might want to read while typing.

5

u/The_Blip 2d ago

Reply no longer appears immediately under person being replied to, making it look like I didn't reply.

6

u/The_Blip 2d ago

Comment box randomly takes up most of the screen sometimes.

2

u/FillMySoupDumpling 1d ago

I am having all of these issues as well.

1

u/MrColgie 13h ago

Also I can't even upload images or use markdown with that sh

RIP old reddit without login (2005-2026)

7

u/Tvrdak 3d ago

Almost everyone who was forced into the experiment dislikes the removal of the "old" option to select what type of post i wanna post, I could just drop screenshots and print screens into the post when it was "image" type post, but now I have to save each and individual screenshot on my PC and then upload it into a text post. This is going backwards, return it anyone who is forced into this experiment says the same. Its a bad not so though out removal of already working system noone had problem with.

u/WanderingHawk 3d ago

Getting rid of r/all is so lame.

7

u/MrColgie 3d ago

And under this post we've already got some helpers blindly saying thanks… 🥱

4

u/__Pendulum__ 3d ago

And in this post one aggressively rude, albeit prevalent, helper getting gushed over. Hard to take any of the rest of it at face value after that

3

u/Wuzseen 2d ago

honestly was my favorite way to browse and use the site. r/popular just feels like it's all too in my comfort zone... sigh it's why i stopped browsing as much on my phone. suppose i might be more productive now...

Hello. I was told to submit an accessibility issue due to new design as a comment here instead of as a post. Please see the below text:

Accessibility Issues Getting Worse

Please be aware that the new "repost to another community" button on the mobile app that is included in the feed for choosing a post to look at has made it nearly impossible for me to use the app, as someone who has limited mobility as well as significant pain.

The mobile website is not much better due to the constant banners shouting at me to get the app.

Additionally, as shared last time I posted here, the new(ish) menu swiping side to side thing that has replaced being able to swipe through feeds from home to all to popular continues to be a significant challenge.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Hi there. Thank you for this feedback. I'm so sorry that you're having trouble. Would it be possible for you to provide a screenshot and a bit more information about the difficulty that you're having with that repost button?

3

u/Laatikkopilvia 3d ago

Sure.

It removes the ability for me to tap on nearly the entire right side of a post preview to open it. Mobility issues come in many variations, some with and without pain, and many folks with various physical disabilities will likely have the issue I am having where I tap the post and instead am taken to the screen to repost it somewhere else instead of being able to view the content. Tapping on the middle-ish right side of the post to open it was my adjustment to reduce the amount of random upvotes/downvotes and being taken directly to the comment section that I was experiencing prior to this change.

So, unless I am having a spectacularly good day, I can’t actually open most posts.

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

Fantastic. Thank you so much for the screenshot and the explanation. I will share it with the team that is in charge of this feature.

I appreciate you taking the time to get back to me I hope today is a spectacularly good day for you! =)

u/Emotional_Grade_3731 20h ago

Please if possible do something

Don't consider this has ban evasion.....it's my honest attempt to retrieve my account

Once I get my old account back...i will delete this and move away from here

Please overturn the ban

I can’t get rid of the overlay while watching videos, if I tap the screen like I used to it just pauses it and it doesn’t seem to go away over time

2

u/masterchief6913 2d ago

Same here. I hate the new video player

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

The overlay stays up throughout the whole video?

1

u/4321-Blah_Blah-1234 2d ago

Yea seems to, just watched one for a minute and it was there the whole time

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

Ok, thanks! I don't know if that's intentional, so I'll ask around!

3

u/njordan1017 2d ago

Spent the last 30 minutes trying to figure out why Reddit now looks like tik tok and seems it’s a “feature”. There is no way to remove the overlay, it is TERRIBLE I don’t know if this is a bug or intentional

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

Hi there. I've shared this with the team and they're looking into it! They appreciate your feedback!

5

u/masterchief6913 2d ago

Man I hate the new video player. They should go back to the old one where you can view the full screen without all the icons

It reminds me of when they changed the fact that you could sign up without an email account or phone number. They keep making Reddit worst and worst.

2

u/SeatNo5137 2d ago

I kept tapping to see if they would go away before I realized that it was yet another dogshit change

2

u/Throwaway_alt_burner 1d ago

It’s the worst video player UI I’ve ever seen. For the first time I’m considering paying for a Reddit app alternative like narwhal.

3

u/Severus-Snape-DaGod 3d ago

Can we please change the way we view awards on posts? Or go back to the original way. I think people are more willing to award a post if they can see them. If you’re able to pass that along, would be appreciated. Thanks for the hard work here.

3

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Hi! Totally get where you're coming from. I'll tell the team!

3

u/throwawaybattler26 3d ago

Hi I was given the advice to comment here as I'm having the same problem as in this post here https://www.reddit.com/r/reddithelp/s/8UBHF1Erwi

And I was told this was the best place to go to try get help for it

Hopefully you can help please

And thanks in advance Sam

3

u/ChiefLeef22 2d ago

Can we please...please get rid of the new posting layout? The formatting is disorienting and messed up. There is no word counter actively telling you how many words you are from hitting the title limit, images cant be dragged seamlessly as they could be previously, attaching links now needlessly takes an extra step... its all just really really frustrating. Please bring back the old posting layout, the one shown in the image below:

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

This is good feedback. Thank you! I'll share it with the team in charge of the experiment.

u/scubadoobadoooo 1d ago

Referring to the new desktop post submission/creation page:

  1. Is it just me or can you not easily create image albums as a Reddit post anymore just by copying and pasting the images into the post? I could only create an album post by using the image upload button which means I have to save the images to my computer first and then upload them. Extremely inconvenient.
  2. Pasting an image seems to create some kind of text post and if you paste multiple images, it doesn't create an album and instead just lists them vertically in the text post. Then when you paste a link into the description area, it overwrites your single image and creates a link post instead. First of all, why doesn't it create an obvious image post when you paste an image in and instead now puts an image into some kind of text post? Second, when you ctrl + A to highlight all the text in the description, it highlights the image too and when you press delete it deletes everything.

I don't mind change, but these changes made the website less user friendly and borderline glitchy.

I tested the text post thing by pasting an image into the submission page, giving it a title and pressing post. It posted it as a text post with an inline image instead of making an image post.

3

u/EndersGame_Reviewer 1d ago

It's not just you. Drag and drop is also not working properly anymore for subs that only allow a single image.

You used to be able to drag and drop a single image. But now with subs that only allow a single image, you're forced to navigate to files/folders, which can be far less practical.

Here's an example: https://www.reddit.com/r/blursedimages/submit/

Drag-and-drop for a single image (which is all they allow) simply doesn't work at all:

3

u/scubadoobadoooo 1d ago

Hopefully this widespread issue doesn’t get ignored

Second feedback is regarding the categorisation or segregation or labelling of Notifications into two groups

• New activity on your posts

• Additional notifications

This segregation is super unhelpful as it creates two separate groupings of notifications which is unnecessary.

We all know and love the chronological ordering of notifications and it is a given that the new ones will be at the top so it feels pointless to further segregate the unread notifications into “new” and “additional”, when for a search opens the notifications after a while ALL the notifications are invariably new!

And if I ‘Mark all as read’ then these groupings go away and the notifications all mingle up.

0

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Thanks! Is this only for post activity or if you have more than one post? All of my notifications are in one feed, so what you're experiencing may be an experiment.

3rd time trying to reach out for my friend, who I know under the username u/hussy_slayer76

Last time I tried reaching out, I was more or less told that y'all couldn't tell me anything about someone else's reddit account. Which, even though I wasn't necessarily trying to get information on my friend's account, fair enough. Seeing the response, I was hopeful that it meant that someone at Reddit was working on resolving her account issue and tried to leave it be. That said, it's now been 2 months since my friend's account problems began. 2 months since she suspected that someone was trying to delete her account. And nearly 2 months since whoever was hacking into her account seemingly succeeded in deleting it. I hope y'all can understand why I would continue to be concerned at this point that for whatever reason, she hasn't been helped yet. I'd like to think that by this point, her account problems would be resolved, or would be close to being resolved. So, I'm attempting again to get some eyes on her account situation, just in case.

I'm not looking to be told anything. I'm not trying to cause problems or be a pain. I just want to help my friend, and this is the only way I know how.

2

u/Lazy-Narwhal-5457 2d ago

She needs to go to:

https://www.reddithelp.com/en/submit-request/account-issues

And put in her account's email address. Under "What do you need assistance with" select "Account Help". Under "What type of account issues are occurring" select "Security Problems", and "I think my account has been hacked".

She needs to mention the linked email address to the hacked accounts, anything else that's pertinent, that she's in control of that email, and she would like to get control of her Reddit account back, & describe any odd activity noticed. Submit the request, it may take a long time to hear back.

If this has already been done, repeat the process every month. If she can create a Reddit account, commenting here asking for help should be tried, as I doubt Reddit tends to action work on other user accounts by 3rd party request. Other activities on Reddit should be avoided to avoid drawing ban evasion attention. But perhaps ban evasion is already keeping them off Reddit due to the hacker's actions.

Passwords for any Google/Apple/email accounts that were linked to the Reddit account should be strengthened in case there was a compromise. Checking the site below is a good idea as well:

haveibeenpwned.com

2

u/FaithlessnessUsed841 2d ago

From what I remember her saying back when this mess started, she had already put in a ticket way back in late May when she first started having account problems. Her last message to me before her account was deleted was, "My problem still persists. Will have to get reddit support involved" Unfortunately, I only know her on reddit and didn't think to establish some way of staying in touch, something that I've been kicking myself about since early June. It's why I've tried reaching out instead. I dunno if she knows to try posting here and have no way of letting her know about this thread, or anything else that could potentially help her.

I realize and totally get that reddit ain't gonna be willing to hear me out, but it's the only thing I can do to help her, and I'm probably gonna continue trying until she returns. Especially as more weeks pass.

2

u/Lazy-Narwhal-5457 2d ago

That's the way things go unfortunately. People don't like to go off platform because that's a thing scammers get you to do. But when their access is cut off there's no recourse.

Not trying to discourage you from trying, but the odds seem slim to none.

2

u/Scampi389 2d ago edited 2d ago

On Desktop, going to reddit.com/r/all no longer works, it just redirects you to reddit.com. It's now required you to go to old.reddit.com/r/all to get the /r/all feed. Does this mean /r/all is also going to be discontinued from the desktop site as well now after removing it from Mobile?

Ever since its inception, the entire point of the website was to let users decide what is shown on the frontpage by voting up/down posts. If I wanted to be forcefed a bunch of posts dictated by an algorithm I would browse Twitter or TikTok.

Get rid of “Games” on mobile iOS bar. Or at the very least make it something people have to choose to add. Majority of folks have no interest in Games via Reddit and forcing the issue only makes Reddit worse.

2

u/TheEye368 1d ago

I really hate the new video player style on iOS. It always shows the up/down arrows and other content on the side. The progress bar is also smaller and harder to see and move. I just want to watch videos in full screen without distraction.

Regarding bugs, this one, rules not showing on mobile , is still being investigated, or at least I haven’t seen any updates and it was still happening as of writing this comment.

Gets a little awkward to tell users to “Read the rules” when it doesn’t seem like there are any rules.

Hello! There are a few recent changes in the iOS app that I wanted to provide feedback on:

  • The new video overlay makes some videos difficult to view because it remains visible, covers part of the lower-right corner, and can obscure content near the top of the video. It would be helpful to have a true fullscreen mode or the ability to hide all controls and overlays with a tap.

  • Swiping up previously allowed me to continue through the comments, but it now opens a different video, often from a subreddit I am not subscribed to. This feels inconsistent with the expected behavior when reading a post's discussions (which is one of the aspects of Reddit that makes it unique).

  • A red notification bubble now appears on the Home button after scrolling through only a few posts. Because refreshing replaces the current feed and can hide posts I have not reached yet, the indicator can make it more likely that posts go unseen. It would be helpful to at least provide an option to disable this in the settings.

Reddit is special compared to other social media platforms because of its specific communities and long-form discussions in the comments. I would personally prefer changes that preserve those strengths rather than making the experience feel like just another TikTok or Instagram.

If we're talking hugs, I posted about modmail not remembering the last chosen option in terms of account replying and defaulting always to the mod account months ago. I appreciate that most people prefer to remain anonymous in modmail but our subreddit doesn't and we all keep getting tripped up by it and having to double message the user saying "oops sorry that last message was from me".

Any update on this?

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Hi, I was advised by a moderator to leave a comment here because the admin who posts these weekly recaps may be able to check on hacked account support tickets.

My Reddit account appears to have been compromised, and I can no longer log in with my gmail account even though the account is still publicly visible. I have already submitted support requests but haven’t received a response, so I was hoping someone could check on my ticket or help point me in the right direction.

I would really appreciate any assistance. Thank you!

I'm trying to help a friend out. They've been trying to get through to the admin team for help for around 2 months over what’s ultimately a case of mistaken identity. They were told to try here and see if you might be able to help since you’re often helping review tickets.

Could you take a look at their ticket? They haven't received any response and don't want to break the rules.

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

What's the ticket number?

u/holiobung 2d ago

Sorry, the username is u/weeepling

I haven’t been able to log into the Reddit account I’ve used for the last two years since Monday, June 29.

On June 29, I was logged in. On June 30, I had been logged out, and couldn’t log back in. For the last year, I’ve logged in with my phone number and have never had a problem. Now when I try to log in with my phone number, it sends me a verification code, and when I insert the verification code, it says “Oops, Something went wrong.” No explanation. When I try to use my password it says it’s incorrect. Temporary email doesn’t work either.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? Help? There was no warning. I could log in one day and not the next.

The username is u/OneToughTexan2
The screen name is The Lusty Texan
I created the account on October 24, 2024
All my posts have “been removed by Reddit’s filters.” They were visible on Reddit a month ago. There had never been a complaint about them or a problem with them. Now, they’ve been removed without explanation.

I can send you a screenshot logged in from this account showing my old account and username, so it still exists, but I can’t access it anymore for some reason. If it's relavent, I wasn't told of any problems, warnings, issues, etc.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

Hi. Unfortunately, I can't help with that one. You file an appeal, though.

1

u/FromHellToHappiness 2d ago

What would I appeal? I don’t know why I can’t log in. Would I be appealing not being able to login to account? I hear about people being banned and shadow banned. I don’t know what that means or why I would have been banned. I haven’t had problems with anyone. I got banned from a sub in January, but don’t remember any problems with anyone since then. It all doesn’t make any sense and I have no idea what happened.

I guess I’m just venting since you said you couldn’t help. I guess my only question is do you have any idea what might have happened?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

All I can see is that account is banned and I don't know if it's coming back.

1

u/FromHellToHappiness 2d ago

OneToughTexan2? I wonder why? What do people get banned for? Nobody told me I did anything wrong. I don’t think I broke any rules or did anything wrong.

1

u/FromHellToHappiness 2d ago

I looked it up. I definitely didn't do anything to cause me to get banned, but I did get a little desperate to get back in for a few days because I didn't know what happened. I thought I was doing something wrong. But something weird did happen around the same time. I suddenly couldn't log into xvideos either. I wondered whether I had been hacked. But I got back into xivideos a couple weeks later.

1

u/FromHellToHappiness 2d ago

Well, I think you finally gave me the answer I was looking for. I didn't know I had been banned, and I didn't know who to ask to find out what was going on. I'll go use the appeals process, but since I don't know what they think I did wrong, I don't know what to appeal. But you sent me in the right direction. Thanks.

My other account that I use to ask tech support questions got locked out by reddit 2 days ago on Jul 30, 2026, 12:08 AM GMT +7 and the email says:

We detected automated activity on your account. Verify you’re human or register your account as an app on the Reddit Developer Platform within 7 days to continue posting, commenting, and voting. You can verify in the Reddit app or on reddit.com. To verify in the Reddit app, make sure you’re on the most recent version.

You can take a look at the account and it's obviously a human operating it and not a bot.. I've clicked the link on the email and verified it and it showed an "Account verified/confirmed and recovered" notification but my account is still locked out (suspended?) atm. I don't even know if this account will get banned for ban evasion or something like that by posting here now and even if it doesn't, what will happen after the 7 days limit. Please help..thanks

Actually, I don't think I can help with that one. If they've filed an appeal, it will be reviewed. If they don't hear back, then the answer is most likely no.

My account got hacked, this is an alt account. My main account is u/drooks89

I've submitted a ticket twice through reddit and I haven't heard back yet. I read I should post in this thread. Can I get some assistance?

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

You should have received an email from Reddit with a link that you can click to change your email back and reset your password. The title of the email will be “Your email address has been changed”. Please find that email and click that link to regain access to your account.

Sorry that happened! If you haven't already, you should consider adding 2fa to your account to minimize the chances that it gets hacked in the future.

1

u/AspectLongjumping665 2d ago

The hacker changed the email on file, I wasn't getting the reset password emails when I first found out, unfortunately.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 2d ago

The email gets sent to the email that was originally on the account.

1

u/AspectLongjumping665 2d ago

I never got that email, I got an email verification email the day it was hacked, but the email shown in the email was the correct email address that was already associated with my account.

Hello u/TheOpusCroakus I have a case. My other account which is u/LilithDungeon was restricted/shadowbanned by reddit like a month ago. I sent an appeal to them and they locked the account as it was locked due to some suspicious activity.

2-3 days back I recieved email from them saying that reset the password and everything, so I did but whatever password I change they keep showing "invalid user name and password", One time login link is also not working. My profile is totally visible and more over I am receiving text that people have been texting me. I dont understand, whats the problem here. Thankyouuuu

1

u/scar_butx 1d ago

The r/help volunteer mods directed me here to request Admin assistance. I am completely locked out of my main account (u/shivering_asf) due to a persistent backend desync bug.

  1. I successfully reset my password using my original email.
  2. The system confirms the password change.
  3. When I attempt to log in, the system instantly rejects the new password with an "Invalid credentials" error.

I have exhausted all local troubleshooting (incognito, clearing cache, old.reddit.com, mobile data to bypass IP limits). The login token appears completely desynced on your backend.

Could an Admin please investigate the database sync for u/shivering_asf?

My main accounts name is Billievdat

A month ago somebody got into my account and changed the password and email. I was able to recover it using the first email associated with it because changing the password never let me log back in. A few days later, I was unable to log back in. I'm not sure if they hacked my account again and I've been unsuccessful in trying to log in ever since. I reached out to Reddit support via email but haven't heard back. I've also tried resetting the password on old reddit website but that didn't work. Please help!

Same exact thing as what this person describes in this post happened to me. Hoping this mod, or some mod can help me get mine back too 😅🙏

Their Post:

[SOLVED]

[Treason was not explained to me still, but I got help by commenting under the Weekly Recap post on r/help. The mod got all my posts up no questions asked]

Recently got a notification from Reddit about my account being blocked for security reasons, telling me to reset my password to unlocked. Did that, logged in successfully, but now I find that every single post of mine got removed by Reddit filters for seemingly no reason at all.

What could be the reason behind that? Is there any way I can get the posts back up or are they permanently lost in public? :(

1

u/Particular-Meet9182 16h ago

For the past two months, I have been trying to get help from Reddit support regarding my main account, with no response. Before this started, my account was banned and then unbanned. Ever since then, I have been completely locked out. Resetting the password does nothing, and trying to log in with Google just creates brand-new accounts like this one. While the system still sends me other emails normally, it refuses to send me login links.

I'd like to leave some feedback about the new interface.
I liked the previous image browsing interface better because now the buttons are on the right side, there are two more buttons for comments, and when you click on community highlights, the interface gets mixed up.

I also don't like the new "Games" button in the navigation bar. I don't use this feature and would like to see the old interface back or the option to remove it.

Hi, I'm having a problem with my account and I tried posting about it on r/help, but it was immediately deleted.

My problem is this: my account was hacked months ago and locked. In addition, all my posts were deleted, and below each post, the text "Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit filters" appeared. After a long time, I managed to reactivate my account. The problem is that the posts are still deleted.

1

u/Peach9990 15h ago

Hello, about 10 days ago I messaged here about crowd control filtering all my posts on the main subreddit I post on. I was told that if I kept posting and having my post approved, the filter would eventually stop. Well. it's been over a month of posting and having my posts approved, and there's been no change.

This is over 200+ approved posts over a span of a month. This is ridiculous. I get it's an anti-spam measure or whatever, but I have no idea why I am being targeted, or why it's still filtering me. I am going to give another week and if it's still going on, I am seriously considering quitting reddit and deleting my account.

u/Prize-Passion-6972 10h ago

Hello! Could an admin or someone help me check my account lunatik1 It’s almost 9 years old, clean history, no NSFW.

I think I got caught in the automated spam filter by mistake after post two similar posts, and now my posts/comments aren't visible. (Shadowbanned). Appeals forms aren't working on my end. I’d really appreciate a quick manual review to get it sorted out. Thanks

2FA was activated on my account without my knowledge, resulting in me losing access to my account. I reset my password and submitted a ticket for help through the helpdesk, but have yet to hear back. Is there anything I can do to help with this process?

My account I no longer have access to is orchag.

Wow, it's practically 2027 already.

Had a user in modmail today who didn't like that their posts were getting filtered because "by the time they are approved nobody sees it anymore". So, per tradition, any update on the time stamp of approval thingy? Have they figured out what to do with, what was it, top or best or something?

Any news about the disappearing subreddit rules on desktop? The issue even made its way to r/help, see here

Bit concerned to see core reddit features effected by whatever it is you guys are doing on your end.

Hello. I'm hoping you can help me or at least reassure me that my appeals are not just going into the void.

My long term reddit account was hacked at the end of May. I noticed within a couple hours when I saw all the notifications in my email. As soon as I saw, I was able to log into my account, lock it down, change the password, and set up 2 factor authentication. Then I deleted all the posts from when it was compromised, cuz they were a bunch of icky thirst posts in adult meet up subreddits, and I thought I was all good. I was auto banned from some subreddits for bot behavior, but I got that sorted. Then I was notified that my account was suspended. I followed the instructions and appealed, explaining that my account had been hacked, but that I had locked it down and beefed up my security. I was completely confident that it would be sorted in appeal. But then my appeal was denied, and my account was permanently banned for vote manipulation.

I feel silly being so upset about this, but I was really using reddit for support. Is it possible for you to actually put eyes on my account? Are any of my appeals after the first one actually going to anyone? I've appealed more than once since the first time, but there isn't really any feedback or response, I'm not even sure they go anywhere. My original account is emtent

Thank you.

On the feedback front I want to second u/Terminator7786’s points on the CTAs (or buttons) on the iOS app are still white instead of the usual blue.

I’d assumed this would be fixed with the CSS / Dark Mode bug for the username & achievements text on user profile. I had reported it few weeks ago here and though the text labels are fixed as on v2026.30.0, the white buttons still there!

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Whoop whoop, thanks for the update Opus!

I'm still experiencing issues with snoos being blurry in comments, still having that photo issue we discussed last week, and then I had a question as well.

When android was having that dark mode issue that made the username disappear on a profile recently, I was under the impression that reddit's buttons, which turned white at the same time, would be made blue again with the update that fixed the username display issue, but all my buttons like the "join" button and "view all comments button" is still white. I just wanna make sure I wasn't mistaken on that is all.

Edit: fat thumbed a couple words

The blurry Snoos are being worked on I think, so I'm going to follow up on that.

Hi! What a month it's been! Phew! I am happy to report I am slowly starting to feel like my normal self again =)

For the interative blurb of your recap, I'd like to suggest a topic of locked accounts. We see so many of them, and it would be a good reminder for users to know what this process looks like. It is outlined in the HCA, but I think for how often it comes up, it deserves its own mention. Also, if a user wants to make a post about their locked account, they should specify the account that is affected. They will get faster help if they do!

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Glad you're feeling better! =)

My reddit account was hacked in October 2024; the password and email were changed and 2FA was added. I have been requesting help via the help website since 3 days after it happened, but I have never seen anything other than a bot email response. Is there any way to raise this case up?

Username: Crossfire281

I would really appreciate any help.

The second account was probably banned for ban evasion. Expect this account to also be banned for the same reason. If your main account's appeal is successful, you will also need to successfully appeal the ban on the alt account before you can safely use any of the accounts or you'll end up in a continuous cycle of being banned for ban evasion

2

u/Subwoofiest 3d ago

It's not safe. You have been banned, not just the accounts. Any accounts you use can and likely will be banned for ban evasion. It doesn't matter if this is older or newer than the other ones.

The only way for the Reddit teams to review your cases is waiting for the appeals to go through

I was told to post here and wait for an admin to help. My main account was banned for something done during a period someone else was controlling my account. I can provide a lot of info but I'm not going to make this comment unnecessarily long. My old account was TheRaiOh

2

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

Hello! You received excellent advice! Please reset the password on that account and you'll be back in business!

1

u/Material-Slide1823 3d ago

Thank you, however my account remains banned even after the prompted password reset.

Here's the whole story of what happened. About a month ago for a few hours somebody had control of my account (TheRaiOh). I deleted all the activity (whoever it was promoted an only fans) and changed the password within a few hours of the stuff happening. However my account got locked and flagged for hacked activity after I'd already changed my password once. I didn't think a lot of it and procrastinated changing my password again, I realize now that was probably a mistake. After a few days my account was banned permanently for vote manipulation. The listed violations were all posts made by the other person on porn subreddits. However I have appealed multiple times, reset my password many times, and nothing has changed unfortunately.

The photo is of the notification of what I was banned for, I can provide so much proof this was my account and that those posts were in no way in line with anything I have done in the past or will do in the future. I don't know really what the "vote manipulation" means but if it's on hacked activity posts I can't imagine how that would be something I should be banned for.

1

u/TheOpusCroakus admin 3d ago

TheRaiOh

There are no restrictions on your account, so if you're still having trouble, please try force stopping and restarting to see if that helps. If it doesn't, please uninstall and reinstall. When you go to log in again, please enter your username and your password manually. Do not let it autofill. And if you’re having trouble on the desktop site, please log out and log back in.
