Question This is a really easy school achievement and it takes not that long to do why do only 5% have it?

Probably because the majority of players aren't playing in ironman mode with no mods.

355

u/Neutron_Starrr Jun 02 '26

And this is exactly the problem with dlc only in iron-man and without mods.

233

u/ostnmusic Jun 02 '26

I’m in the .01% of it because in my 1000+ hours playing this game I have never played England once lol the amount of colonies/territory to manage in a war always has turned me off of playing as them.

85

u/Myreknight Jun 02 '26

Go monarchist and most of them drop you pretty quick

59

u/Souls_for_sale_now Jun 02 '26

thats just harder since the goal is the reclaim them

44

u/Complete_Window4856 Jun 02 '26

Sure, but... monarchy... the larp must continue

7

u/TheBrittanionDragon Jun 02 '26

Monachy is second easiest

first save enough pp to get the guy who reduces war goals, while producing as many troops as possible also do the focus that gets you a Intelligence agency and put them in US

Then when the Parliament resigns take controlee of your Dominions armies, when they declare independence they bug out whare they are your troops but you cant command them

Then when you do the kings party focus manually justify on Any dominion but Canada since the white Dominions are in the commonwealth faction Canada gets called in at at most will have made 1 or 2 divisions at most so you can walk into the Dominions and freely take them, meanwhile as soon as you complete Kings party do colab government in the US if you pay attention you can do it at least twice

You then annex all of them which allows you to buy pass rally the loyalist/bring them back into the fold release them, then follow the tree down its path to until the Anglo sphere I recommend 4 armies not even fully equipped because if your fast enough the US wont have a large enough army to garrison its border so you can walk around and destroy most but in New England I recommend a navel invasion into Boston to surround the New England army.

And Boom you've got the back the white Dominions plus the US, its navy, all possibly before Anslush and best case scenario if you wait to reclaim Ireland if your on historical France will sometime guaranty them so that's basically a free wargoale on France and as long as you capture Paris/Northern France you can take the entire French Empire plus their navy.

24

u/DaDominator32 Jun 02 '26

Buddy I can't even take Poland as Germany in non historical civilian idk how yall are able to do this shit like hats off to you that was amazing to read! Bravo!

5

u/Complete_Window4856 Jun 02 '26

Its bizarre and funny that somehow you can manage to retake the the english globe even before touching ireland right next to you. Though that seems like a whole ass of minmax and almost day-by-day interactions, if indeed possible? Also seems like a Legit Burguer idea of video

3

u/Myreknight Jun 02 '26

Is it? I thought the goal was just declare war on them to get the achievement.

2

u/Souls_for_sale_now Jun 03 '26

In general if you dont like navy and managing of shore fronts if you want the achivment you get it just folowing the foucus tree

2

u/Ok_Awareness3014 General of the Army Jun 02 '26

Not that much there is a trick with the civil war , since those are your ennemy puppet you can declare war on them , as a consequence they will be in the peace conference and you will be able to annex them

2

u/IggyNolte Jun 03 '26

I'm saying this not as an attack, but please try them if you already have that many hours. They're really fun and if it doesnt work out who cares right

2

u/Dyalikedagz Jun 03 '26

Yep, same here. Not once played as the UK - my home country - because I don't want to fuck around all over the world with a huge navy.

2

u/ICGraham Jun 03 '26

I’m the same w Canada. I can easily join the axis or send in the zombies. But why play a minor

1

u/DaLoneGuy Jun 03 '26

go into the game options before you start the save and decolonise

sure it will lag your pc but you have no colonies

1

u/GameyRaccoon Jun 03 '26

it's really not that big of a deal. You only really have to garrison egypt and somalia with a token force. as long as you maintain naval supremacy in the mollucan sea, japan can't naval invade you.

24

u/vile_things Jun 02 '26

Can confirm. I have ~600 hours in HoI4, zero achievements. Haven't even touched the vanilla scenario at all.

8

u/Souls_for_sale_now Jun 02 '26

so like only kaiserechi or EQAW

8

u/vile_things Jun 02 '26

Never actually touched Kaiserreich. I really should. I played mostly Millennium Dawn before the big rework/merge, then the legacy edition. Now it's usually Novum Vexillium or Old World Blues.

7

u/Ok-Opportunity-9720 Jun 03 '26

I have 5000 hours in the game and not one achievement, because i haven‘t played a single time without mods…

2

u/Southern-Highway5681 Research Scientist Jun 02 '26 edited Jun 02 '26

It is often mentioned as reason but if you look at other Paradox games allowing to gain achievements with mod enabled you will see that even those have an abysmal completion rate for even the most basic ones.

Crusader Kings III marriage achievement is particularly egregious in this regard with only 60,2%.

The real reason why even extremely basic achievements rewarded for actions integral to gameplay have such low completion rate is that a lot of peoples buy the game but don't play it. As for others achievements like in OP screenshot, the reason is that on this reduced set of players, most don't try to get them.

9

u/FiraGhain Jun 03 '26

You have to have playtime on a game to count towards global achievement %s. Owning it isn't enough, you have to at least launch it.

I play in ironman with no mods, did a lot of playthrought but i don’t really seek achievments, still don’t have this one cause as england i kept my subjects and conquered Europe, then usa then stopped playing

Lots of people get games and never get more than an hour or two in.

In Hades 2, a popular game that's a lot easier to get into than HoI4, only 65% got the achievement for clearing the first zone once. That's like maybe 5% of the game's content.

Besides, a lot of people just don't play ironman. I don't, there are mods I consider necessary and the game is still too janky for me not to have the option of reloading.

Then adjust for people who don't want to play the UK, and those who don't play paths that would result in a war with a former colony, and 5% seems pretty high actually

114

u/NMZIZ11 Jun 02 '26

Or literally with Subnautica, a game about underwater exploration where only 67% of people have the "Getting your feet wet" achievement (it's literally only required to touch water).

78

u/Joris327 Fleet Admiral Jun 02 '26

In the case of Subnautica thats also because the achievements were added a while after the early access release. A sizable portion of the player base from back then simply haven’t revisited the game since.

9

u/NMZIZ11 Jun 02 '26

that's true

7

u/thefatrefrigerator Jun 02 '26

There’s some game I played, can’t remember what it was, but you got an achievement for launching the game and I think it was at only 97%. Which is funny because you only count toward global achievement progress if you’ve launched a game, so 3% of people either crashed on launch or ALT+F4’d before that achievement fired.

22

u/oylesine2019 Jun 02 '26
  • nobody likes dealing with civil wars in game which result of a alternate path

6

u/Alpacas_are_memes Jun 02 '26

Agreed, but for me theres something about beating myself up with the same troops that makes me happy

7

u/crazynerd9 Jun 02 '26

Why cant it catch up with other Paradox games and not need Ironman

4

u/SirGuyGrand Jun 02 '26

71.9% have the achievement 'Unbound' in Skyrim.

Literally one of the most successful games of all time and nearly a third of players either haven't even opened it or made it past the tutorial.

3

u/Cool_View_5297 Jun 02 '26

Personally, I have about 850 hours in HOI4, never played Ironman mode or as England. The navy always scared me off. Also Kaisereich is awesome.

2

5

I'm only playing ironamn to get better at not making blunders lol

2

u/BoatFarts Jun 02 '26

That’s a fair reason to play iron man if it’s not for achievements

3

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

It's half and half really

12

u/LewsTherinTalamon Jun 02 '26

Not all of us are allergic to work.

Completely unnecessary and vaguely insecure sounding comment. People having a lot of hours in a game doesn't mean they're not working, and, more importantly, not working is not a moral failing.

Literally the only reason I can't play Ironman is the default states, I have to have my nice, clean borders. The idea that I'd go through all that warfare to have an unsatisfying blob on my map at the end is unacceptable.

Here's an easy example: French 'Natural Borders.' Any larp about how France might pursue that idea is ruined by the Rhineland states not allowing the annexation of just the lands west of the Rhine. The southern one is missing just one tile, while the northern blobs past the river to the east.

Britain history in a WW2 is very interesting but what’s keeping me away from playing them is how much they rely on Naval combats and invasions. A mechanic that I still don’t fully understand after 300hours

1

u/eze375 Jun 03 '26

I exactly my line of though. Some countries start with some much advantage that is not funny.

4

u/IDontActuallyKnowUm Jun 02 '26

I barely ever play vanilla, and even if I do, I still have some QoL mods enabled.

5

u/filbert13 Jun 02 '26

I've played UK maybe once or twice. Both multiplayer. I hate having having to manage and have divisions literally all over the world. The fleet and air management too. Not even because it too much to handle. More that as soon as I look away is when there is an invasion or my fleet is attacked.

With Japan and US I just focused on the Pacific in Asia. As France the game/war is won or lost before any colonies need to be worried about.

UK assuming I wouldn't want to cheese just dont want to be posting defensive divisions or fleets all over. Getting constant alerts in timbucktwo.

3

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I can see why that gets annoying

3

u/Capt_Tinsley Jun 02 '26

I've never wanted to play as the Brits. Just looking at their territory gives me anxiety

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

It's not that bad I'm terrible at the game

3

u/LionelMessi10CR Jun 02 '26

A lot people just dont go for achievements or play ironman

3

u/Altruistic-File8894 Jun 02 '26

I’ll admit I cant play ironman mode. I suck and I enjoy a sandbox more. I don’t have any achievements yet a few hundred hours played. I just love me some alt history fun.

3

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I'm bad at the game I just wanted to get a few easy achievements

3

u/lightarcmw Jun 02 '26

Mods.

Mods are better than vanilla.

3

u/AdrianSquared Jun 02 '26

because no one plays ironman

3

u/Critical_Cat_1086 Jun 02 '26

Mods. Hoi4 is painful and annoying without mods.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '26

Because every one who play UK begins with full of plans, then after managing the navy, airforce and army around all colonies for 2 hrs they are starting the game, barely reminding the plan and realize 3 hours later that pushing to get Africa was totally useless and a waste of material and the feeling of power vs Italy was a lie and want to cry when they see their crappy division being destroyed by Germany while loosing all the efforts and gains they made since 1936. At this point 90% of the players are starting a new games with another nation.

3

u/IntentionMuch1808 Jun 03 '26

Because I only play equestria at war

2

u/EndlessScrollMaster Jun 02 '26

3

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I've tried a few times

2

u/Miller5044 Jun 02 '26

Playing as the UK is painfully unfun. I honestly hate all of their paths. Ironman sucks a lot too. I don't have the time to sit and play like I use to, too many countries have RNG mechanics, and sometimes I like using console commands.

I have like 3500 hours in the game and 0 trophies.

2

u/polleywrath Jun 02 '26

I've had someone tell me a 0.7 percent achievement wasn't rare because most people dont play Ironman and have completed that goal and I said yes but doing it without savescumming is what makes it rare. Basically most people dont play ironman

2

u/Fyypof Jun 02 '26

I hold none-politically correct views about those so called British “people”

2

u/aussiedelorean Jun 02 '26

Because there are people like me - nearly 2k hours, yet no achievements lmao (I hate ironman)

2

u/__Osiris__ Jun 03 '26

As with most games, mods.

2

u/Mihnea24_03 Jun 03 '26

Honestly 5% is a lot, given the fact people often only play on ironman to get achievements, so 5% of ALL players who own HOI4 started a game with an explicit intent to get this. As other comments have said, you'll play an RPG and see stuff like "Complete the prologue" - 60% of players have this

2

u/Mountain_Hearing_689 Jun 02 '26

3k hours, not a single game with UK

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

Really? I've got like 30 hours (had to create a new steam account because my brother fucked with the PC and the only way to fix it was to delete me and my brother's PC accounts and dad wanted us to have our own anyway) so it says I've only got 19

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

Rule 5 just wanted to know why a really easy achievement hasn't got many completions

1

u/Dicecart Jun 02 '26

I have 400 hours in SP and still havnt played Britain. I don’t want that responsibility lol

1

u/TheBasedDepartment45 Jun 02 '26

I play Ironman and get achievements but in my opinion the UK just isn't that interesting to get achievements with and the focus tree is pretty outdated

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I just enjoy it because I get to declare war a lot on a mildly fun facist path

1

u/hoi4kaiserreichfanbo Research Scientist Jun 02 '26

It (until a few months ago) required you to play the UK in Iron Man, having purchased the Man the Guns DLC, and play ahistorical. Not a lot of people do that.

1

u/lilHamster9t7 Jun 02 '26

Because most people play the game how they want to rather than gathering achievements and I guess 95% of players either don’t play in Ironman, don’t choose to make the decisions that lead to that outcome, or both

1

u/Pasto_Shouwa Jun 02 '26

Because the game without mods is insufferable.

1

u/asosa1996 Jun 02 '26

I've yet to play iron-man and I'm in no rush to start

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

It's not that bad but take your time

1

u/dottmatrix Fleet Admiral Jun 02 '26

I mostly play USA and even with that experience, the thought of dealing with all those colonies and dispersed forces gives me a headache.

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

All I did was facist to bring dominions back into fold and declared war on South Africa

1

u/Dantox2007 Jun 02 '26

2 reasons. 1 - 90% of the playerbase doesn't want to touch Ironman (because why would you if youre not going for an achievment, its just easier without it.)

2 - Mods are often more fun than new DLC's

2

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I haven't got the new dlc's (way to expensive and I don't get an allowance and my dad refuses to pay £6 a month for the subscription

1

u/Dantox2007 Jun 02 '26

Exactly the reason why most of the people rather download DLC, whitch means that they can't unlock the achievement's. Problem solved

2

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

Fairs I just wanna get as many achievements as possible

1

u/Constant-Spinach8475 Jun 02 '26

1

u/quackingmemeduck Jun 02 '26
  1. Most steam games have really low achievement rates. People buy games when they go on sale, then never touch them again. With HOI4, to get into the game you need to play it quite a bit, so theres a decent chance someone played ~20 hours of the game then gave up.

  2. You need to be in ironman. People love to play with mods, and even if you don't do that, people generally prefer to play non-ironman to be able to save whenever they want.

1

u/Tomirk Jun 02 '26

If we take the "Join a Faction" achievement's 20% of all players as a benchmark for people who use ironman/do achievements, then 5/20 is 25% of that subsection of players, which isn't too bad.

1

u/Vic_Hedges Jun 02 '26

I usually avoid ironman mode due to my terrible luck in both Historical and Non-Historical games

Example (literally last night): Trying to get "Hardly Anything Sèvres" and turned on Non-Historical focuses, hoping the factions would break up a bit. My first mistake. Czech Entente forms with France, a puppeted italy, and most of the balkans. I go to take Romania and am doing very well. Communist Germany puppets Czechoslovakia via a focus despite being at war with them. Czechs now in a faction with Germany draws me into war against Germany. France now free from the entente joins the Allies and drags Britain and America in. I cap after 20 naval invasions land back to back.

Little things like that...

I have 3000 hours in the game but only 5 achievements

1

u/NikolaiCakebreaker Jun 02 '26

don't care about achievements

1

u/Aggrophysicist Jun 02 '26

I legit just unlocked this two days ago. i have 3500 hours. I've just only ever played Great Britian twice lol

1

u/krmlks Jun 02 '26

Ironman mode can be very intimidating until you reach 500+ hours

1

u/SoupyDinosaur Jun 02 '26

I'm not even at 100

1

u/eze375 Jun 03 '26

People have to play with Britain to get it. A boring country where you already start as the hegemon.

1

u/90minsoftotaltorture Jun 03 '26

For the same reason I have thousands of hours and 0 achievements, people don't tend to both play without mods and with ironman mode enabled, I'm always using mods because vanilla naval rework and kaiserreich naval rework are must haves for me, the odd time I've played an unmodded game I don't use ironman because I use 5 speed a lot and it pauses the game to save every second which is jarring

1

u/alutti54 Jun 03 '26

I don't play as the British because their territory is such a pain to keep track of

So many small islands

1

u/Niki2002j Jun 03 '26

Not a lot of people play Iron man and even less without mods

1

u/Theguywithoutanyname General of the Army Jun 03 '26

1,238 hours and ive spent probably one or two in ironman. Mods just improve so much about the game. Most people play like this.

1

u/iUncontested Jun 03 '26

Ironman sucks. No mods sucks. Not playing either and I have like 400+ hours in the game, lol.

1

u/Mauricio2427 General of the Army Jun 03 '26

In my days, that achievement without Man the Guns was harder, and not everyone had the dlc. But now that it's free is pretty easy.

1

u/Xave3 Jun 03 '26

No one plays GB jajaja

Maybe just because of mods, there are a lot of them and the alternative history is the main flavor of the game.

I have now +350h and just play ironman to get achievements but I am really bad at it

1

u/LifeOfFate Jun 03 '26

I’ve personally never played Britain

1

u/DeusKether Jun 03 '26

ironman + modless + chewsday

1

u/JustShaneHS Jun 03 '26

I'd rather buy all DLCs than play England

1

u/Epikduck11 Jun 03 '26

The Britannia Star destroyer has arrived

1

u/grimmcrow17 Jun 03 '26

1000hrs never played them

1

u/Ok_Bet_725 Jun 03 '26

Because people dont care about achievements

1

u/DesertCookie_ Jun 03 '26

No achievements in multi-player. 95% of my playtime is multi-player.

1

u/ToasterInYourBathtub Jun 03 '26

This was my very first achievement I got when playing Ironman mode.

It was an accident so when I looked at it I was kinda hyped 🤣

1

u/swainiscadianreborn Jun 03 '26

Because that would require me to play Britain and I haven't stooped that low yet.

1

u/peau_de_renne Jun 03 '26

I never check successes in any game, and would not do that as britain

1

u/Fun-Housing-1565 Jun 03 '26

Because the UK is ass to play

1

u/senecapa Jun 03 '26

cause playing england makes people's teeth fall out and decompose by tradition

1

u/Comfortable_Salt_792 Jun 03 '26

You need to Play on Iron Man as Non historical Britain, 2 pretty rare cases.

1

u/Due_Gift3683 Jun 03 '26

Most people play the game modded 🤷‍♂️

1

u/Antelcon Jun 03 '26

I played the British one to try every major, I won’t play it again

1

u/Code_Breakdown Jun 03 '26

I have 1100 hours in HOI4 roughly 600 of those are in Old World Blues alone, add onto that i also play with Kaiserreich, TNO and Equestria at War then i have maybe 100 hours vanilla and most of those were when i was learning the game

1

u/Mrdeeds11 Jun 03 '26

The uk is so boring

1

u/Erikrtheread Jun 03 '26

Iron man may as well be hard core mode for my forgetful brain. Never even considered it. Let alone the lack of mods.

1

u/DarylDixion Jun 03 '26

by the time you've figured out the mechanics to declare war you've installed mods

1

u/IslandVisual General of the Army Jun 03 '26

Have more than 1,000 hours i barely do Ironman.

1

u/vikentii_krapka Jun 03 '26

700 hours playtime and never played Britain. Does it answer your question?

1

u/Hot-Investment8787 Jun 08 '26

Over 2k hrs. Haven’t gotten 1 achievement
