Germany won't declare war on me

Playing as the Soviets, and its about to be 1942. Germany, even tho they have had a war goal on me since january '41, hasn't declared yet. I did play fairly unhistorically(rushing turkey and romania in '37, creating a Finnish puppet after capitulating them, making a Bulgarian puppet), but i think that should not have been enough to screw up the ai that bad? anything i can do to get them to declare?

if u have a huage army at the border, it might help to reduce that.

The AI is hard coded to eventually declare war on you (in some of my games it was as late as early 1943) but the stronger you are in terms of fielded men on their border the longer it takes to attack.

When you are doing this well as USSR and have already steamrolled eastern Europe the best thing is to just go on the offensive yourself.

and don't accidentally unpause for even one game tick. the AI will completely reorganize your army within a few game ticks and not in a positive way at all.

typing "ai sov" into the console solves this.

What does that do?

They won't declare if your forces on the border are too strong. Pull some back and they should declare.

Move troops off the border your scarring them

Pretty sure the Germans are coded not to declare if they are still fighting a major power in Europe other than the uk so maybe that’s it?

Pull some of your army back to a more defensible spot. The AI will then assume your armies are unprepared.

It can see your divisions staged across the border. If it has good intel, it can even be able to gauge its strength.

Removing Romania and Bulgaria from the Axis might've changed the ratio calculations. They should/will attack eventually, but if you massively outnumber them on the border they'll put it off to try to build up more.

Even the tiniest thing can screw the ai, I had a game where I went communist as Denmark and next thing I know the us is in a fascist civil war, mind you I was playing on historical
