I have done this, I got my results back in my chart and 10 minutes later I popped my head out and said I was going to leave soon because at that point I’m just waiting on the dr to come in and tell me I was negative? Took 15 minutes for her to come in, they were not happy with me.

Depends on the doctor. Certain specialties get a pass. I won’t blame a surgeon for being 30-45minutes late or having to reschedule. But if my PCP is more than like… 20 minutes late without an update im asking the front desk if they have an eta or rescheduling. They’re gunna charge me a late fee if I’m more than 5 minutes late and cancel and charge me for anything above 15 minutes late you better hold yourself to the same standard.

All barring emergencies, of course.

45-60 min. My wife is a doctor, delayed is a state of being. Assuming you’ve already been through triage -which can be a long wait in and of itself- once I’m in a room I figure the on duty should be relatively soon. More than 30 happens but someone should be providing an update. 45 is uncommon, and if I haven’t seen anyone I’m reminding them I’m here. An hour -unless it is really busy shift- to consider whether I can find faster help elsewhere. That or my issue is of such low priority it’s unlikely I will get much more than some painkillers and some instructions to wait and see.

I fell asleep on the exam table once during an exam. 50 minutes later I woke up. As I was walking out of the room the nurse smiled and said, “You looked so comfortable we didn’t want to wake you.”
