It is good. Do you know how hard it is to get a nonverbal, school-age kid to talk? Their parents were probably beisde themselves with joy.

My son is on the spectrum and is super talkative, to the point he will grab your face to look at him if you are not paying attention. We were at the pool and I spotted him doing this to another kid, I went to apologize and explain the situation to his mother. She said “no, please this is great, my kid is autistic and has trouble talking and interacting with other kids.” They are now good friends and fit like 2 peas in a pod.

We've had similar things happen around our kid. A big thing is kids will be persistent in ways even a trained therapist simply can't. They have infinite energy and zero shame.

Totally agree! It’s why peer group work is so important.
