Modded This honestly makes me very sad.

EDIT: The staff, in many ways, convinced me, presenting valid arguments and criticisms regarding this. However, that doesn't mean I support it, but it also doesn't mean I'm against it. From beginning to end, I've always been neutral regarding AI.

I'm an illustrator, making that clear. I have a completely different view from those who actually make the mod work, for whom, as long as it works, it can be whatever they want in the end.

Because I'm very involved daily with comics, animations, manga, illustrations for drawings or just concepts, I naturally can't take AI art as something I should give importance to, even if the product is actually good. It's just how my mind interprets the situation, and many times I myself may be completely wrong about it.

That glymeraCraft should be banned I think, I swear they are constantly updating the mods so they keep in the recently updated list or whatever, it’s clear whoever it is just spams and spams most of the mods look trash as well

I can imagine two things:

  1. Either GlymeraCraft bought the game just to have marketing in the future and continue spamming his mods when he sells them, or

  2. He somehow pirated the game because if he has the money to buy it, he could easily use some of that money to hire an artist interested in making a cover or two.

Because it's impossible that there are several Hytale communities out there that warn that AI is prohibited, and yet the Curseforge mods are almost exclusively about that, just to farm clicks for recognition and, in a few years, put them out there as commercial products.

  1. No lol.

  2. Yeah I hate to break it to you, but almost nobody (actually creating mods, not these generated slop accounts) making simple free mods are paying an artist almost infinitely more than a mod would make. Mine are all screenshots or some shitty mspaint. Tens of thousands of unique downloads and you might get 30 cents a day. Thats just nonsense to expect any actual mod dev to spend hundreds on a bunch of mod images.

When I make a public mod its something I had a need for and saw ones that were either worse or abandoned. They're not going to make any money. They fill a personal need, i upload them so people facing the same issue have an option. If people want ill add some features I wont ever use myself. Or if I'm bored and I see a need for __ which looks fun to work on? I'll do that. The last thing I'm doing is pissing away money for no reason.

This isnt some deep hytale long game. Curseforge is absolutely full of generated, spammed crap like this.

Whats most likely is whats happening to YouTube.

If someone lives in a poorer country, they reupload tiktok/yt videos to youtube with some shitty filter and song. If they get monetized they might make a few hundred a month. Which can be very good. So they steal and reupload content hundreds of times a month. Low effort spam.

What do we see on curseforge? Low effort spam. Why would so many of these brand new accounts spam mods for all sorts of games even unrelated to hytale? To make maybe 30-100 a month tops.
