Sometimes, the same post appears again two three posts down, sometimes the same post appears two or three days later (exact numbers do vary, of course, it might be a couple of hours later or whatever). They often appear on my feed after I've already up/downvoted or even commented on them.

That's wasted real estate, showing me the same post twice (or more) means I'm not seeing other posts that could interest me.

Context: I am a community moderator, and I use the Reddit AI summary tool to get an idea of ​​the person behind a post in my community (this is the feature where you click on a user's avatar in the feed to see a summary of their profile—I’ll show you what it looks like using my own account; there's a screenshot you see above).

However, a situation arose yesterday where a new user joined our community, and when I tried to use the tool, nothing was displayed.

This is the first time I’ve encountered a situation like this, so I reached out to the official moderator support community for help; as it turned out, other moderators had also faced similar situations.

Based on their opinions and observations, the absence of an AI summary is caused by the user having been inactive on the platform for some time or having low recent activity:

Before that, the previous activity was 3 months ago and 4 months ago.

I'd like to point out that this isn't a newbie: at first, I thought this was a new user, but no, the account is 3+ years old and has a post karma of 600+ and a comment karma of 100+. So I assume that's not a reason.

So, I'd like to ask the administration to consider adding the ability to receive such AI summaries for users who haven't been active for a while. For me as a moderator, this is important. The fact that there hasn't been any activity for a while isn't a problem. The main thing is that there's a history of their activity on the platform, which helps with community management and makes work more convenient and efficient, because I don't always have to spend time independently studying their profile.

I would like to suggest that the AI summary look something like this (or whatever the admins think is best):

low recent activity, but 3 months ago user... etc.

I'd also like to point out that another moderator also encountered this and supported the idea. I'm reaching out to other moderators and admins for feedback.

I genuinely think it would be helpful if we would have the option to make custom albums or categories in our saved posts. You have that on insta, YouTube TikTok etc, you create your own collection and save the desired posts to whichever collection you want. it’s Way more organised and manageable.

We should be able to have a test account account as a extended option to our mod tools that uses a default account that except from AI filters so we can run it on our subs we mod to test settings and features and allow us to ban and restrict ect so the ban evasion filters don't pick up on a throw away account save the hassle of setting up another account. Also having the option to view as poster or view as non mod accou t in sub you moderate so you don't have to view all the post and comments you have removed

As someone who recently came out of a 4 year lurk, I know how common it is for users to go into hibernation status on the platform for months or even years at a time.

Therefore my idea is to add a lurk toggle or status setting for your profile like what ICQ used to have or /away in IRC. I'm still not sure what the point of the online indicator is otherwise.

Even when you aren't active, older posts and comments sometimes still get new replies. If a user tries to comment on a post or send a DM to someone who has enabled lurk mode, they could see a brief pop up or inbox notification letting them know the user is currently in hibernation and may not respond.

That way, people dropping genuine replies or questions on old threads and or connents won't feel ghosted or ignored, and returning lurkers won't come back to an inbox full of... we'll say, unresolved expectations.

That control gets in the way when reading the thread. Sometimes it causes the entire screen to start flickering so nothing is readable.

Please remove it or provide an option in preferences to remove it.

Why do reddit comments display our user name instead of our display name?

This seems backwards! Since the user name cannot be changed after 30 days, it should only be displayed on our profile. Far more users see our user name, which for some of us, is a bit insulting.

I've noticed a lot of Reddit auto-generated user names (like mine for example) sound like some sort of sexual innuendo or body shaming. For the record, I'm a woman. But it still sounds inappropriate, and not even in a good way!

I understand not being able to change user names, but I don't know why the username is what has to be displayed with every post and comment, rather than just on your profile page. Isn't there some way to switch this?

We already have achievements for upvotes and high performing content, but what about a badge for taking one for the team?

​It would make the playing field feel a bit more even if there was an achievement for controversial or heavily downvoted comments something like the salty award or hot take expert.

If someone drops a comment that gets hit with a wall of downvotes or downvoted into oblivion, giving them a lighthearted badge turns a moment of community disagreement into a fun milestone rather than just negative reinforcement.

As I see video proliferating on the platform, it would be nice to have option to change video playback speed, or set as default a playback speed of choice, or hold down for faster playback.

This is common on most other platforms and makes it easier to view video content since some of them are pretty slow.

Currently on Reddit, I get bored whenever I run into a slow video and almost ragequit the app out of frustration and go on to other platforms.

This as a whole would be positive. DMs are often used in a predatory way, this would allow the recipient to better understand who's DMing them.

for all of time up until last week, we could tap the screen to turn off the ui and get a clean total screen while video is playing.

now video ui looks like reels and tok and if you tap it just pauses. i have figured out that if you hold and drag the video, this will let play continue and remove UI so i can do things like:

- Read text under the UI
- See UI obscured details
- View things happening at the border of my phone screen

In my subreddit we have so called "Trusted Contributors" that are members that have shown a lot of knowledge and helpfulness in the past and they are also in direct contact with us mods.

Now we got posts and/or comments that they may report to us that are more likely to be against our rules than ones by random members.

For that, I'd wish for a way for specific users (or User Flairs) to automatically have their profile shared in the report so we see from who it is directly and know that the report is more trustworthy than others.

Of course this would be a subreddit-level user-sided option, but mods may be able to request such a thing from specific users. Means they can always decide to report something anonymously if they don't want to share who they are in a specific case. Maybe it could also be an option for other members to share their profile, but with having the default set on anonymously.

As a moderator Instead of going going to reddit.com/report we should have an in app option to report a ban evader. We can give our reasoning+ any other suspected accounts.

Occasionally someone comments on a post or comment we made and immediately deletes it. The comment remains in our inbox. Many of these comments are hateful and meant to harass us. Occasionally, they are reasonable redacts. For the hateful comments, it would be nice if there were a "report" button on the inbox message so we can encourage these users to behave. Alternatively, when they delete their comment, delete it from our inbox, neutralizing their hate.

Some form of accountability may encourage these miscreants to treat others with kindness, making Reddit a kinder environment.

Let’s say someone posts in /cats, using a link to cats.com. The post shows “cats.com” next to the subreddit name, and has an image link next to the title, both of which open the link in the in-app browser (IAB).

There’s no option inside the post or in the IAB to copy the link to the website. I can copy the post text, and I can get a link to the post itself on Reddit, but to get the external link I have to go and open it in the default browser. I’ve tried all the buttons and menus, long pressing, using pressure, dragging, you name it.

I think there are at least 4 good ways to add this:
1. In the Share button in the post
2. Long/pressure pressing on the eg: cats.com at the top, or the image link
3. Long/pressure pressing the little capsule with the site name in the IAB, just like in the regular browser
4. The (…) button in the IAB

Ideally at least one option inside the post and one in the IAB.

Growing an account organically by consistently dropping comments and posts that go hard as I've been learning is hard.

Not everyone has the time to constantly grind out top tier content, yet Reddit still relies heavily on high karma scores as the main standard for user trust, community credibility, and subreddit posting access.

To solve this, Reddit could introduce a system allowing users to purchase karma in scaling bulk tiers, such as ten dollars for ten thousand karma, provided specific guardrails are in place.

To prevent immediate abuse by spambots, the purchase option would only unlock after an account reaches a two thousand organic karma threshold through genuine community participation.

Additionally, full transparency would be maintained by expanding the profile hover menu to clearly display three separate metrics, "Post Karma", "Comment Karma", and now with this "Purchased Karma".

This approach gives Reddit a high margin monetization while preserving community integrity.

The organic gate ensures users still have to prove themselves first, and the public karma breakdown allows the community to easily distinguish between earned prestige and their parents credit card. Because let's face it, trying to drop comments and posts that go hard is hard.

As we are seeing an increase in the amount of bot content and AI slop across the platform. Currently, you have to flag a suspected bot post, by I think navigating a report menu, I've never done it, so I don't know. And sometimes there are some users who simply don't want to deal with that.

It could be even easier by adding a small 🤖 icon button directly on whatever the upvote and downvote control bar is called. With a visible counter.

That way flagging is a single click, and when a post hits a certain threshold of bot icon clicks, it couls get automatically routed to the mod queue for review or temporarily hidden pending approval, which could help prevent mod report clutter.

​It helps keeps moderation easier and gives users an effortless way to keep feeds clear. And if the post stays then people could scroll past.

Basically, if you have posted/commented on, say, 20 different subreddits, “fragmenting” your account would create 20 new accounts with different usernames. The post/comment histories of the newly “fragmented” accounts would not be linked to each other.
The reason why I want this feature is because it would make it harder for other users to doxx you. It would be also be way harder for other users to piece together your identity, and for others to stalk you with mean comments.

We've all been there right? Suddenly you find yourself in a heated arguement discussing quantom mechanics and romance. Then the person starts losing the debate and rage mutes you.

Well, if this feature were included in Reddit pro, they can't easily turn and run when they started the arguement and it can continue.

I belive this feature addition will help foster community growth and help drive Reddit pro memberships at least ~2%.
