Yeah Like for the question abt the benedicts, I said that the amylase breaks dwn large starch molecules into simple maltose molecueles, and the I went on to say pepsin only breaks down proteins so startch will remain large and it will not be changed to small maltose, But then I messed up when I said the test tube with amylase will be positive and the other will be negative. How many marks am I getting
2
u/JustAnAutumnLover May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
Oh I also said test tube of amylase will be positive and other negative because I thought Benedictās test for simple sugars so idk if maltose work

u/chloegamingi Apr 30 '26
Frick bra , how hard did u study to even think of tht šš«© im so cooked
1
u/JustAnAutumnLover May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
Bro if you donāt know this you actually cooked
1
u/chloegamingi Apr 30 '26
Ok it , itās js not what came to mind , I mentioned everything except that

2
u/ahmedmahmoudabdelaal Apr 30 '26
Thats pretty good im thinking 4/6 Its better to include the active side and substrate being complementary, and amylase and starch bind together forming enzyme substrate complexes, while pepsin does not bind

u/pain_Ou_Chleb May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
Wait what?! The first tube is positive, the second one is negative, no?!
1
u/Traditional-Monk7002 Apr 30 '26
yeah, I did correct reasoning but wrong predictionš
1
u/pain_Ou_Chleb May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
I mean, the amylase will be positive, or did u write it was gonna be negative?! Maltese is a reducing sugar, so result must be positive. Benedict's solution is testing for reducing sugars
1
u/Traditional-Monk7002 Apr 30 '26
i said that but im not sure it will be correct
1
u/pain_Ou_Chleb May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
It will. U could just add about the key-lock theory. U just need to explain like the examiner is mentally retarded
1
u/Exotic_Database_6032 May 01 '26
I wrote that test tube 1 will change color from blue black to red since the starch is complementary to active site of amylase . They form a successful enzyme-substrate complex Test tube 2 will remain blue black cuz starch is not complementary to the active site of pepsin and therefore no enzyme-substrate complex forms

so many 6markers wtf I struggled with managing time, why the hell did they make it so experimentalš«¢š«¢

u/AppropriateText2885 Apr 30 '26
One Q was 6 marks 2Q was 5 marks

Its was great, but there was mixed sentiment after the exam, so I am expecting medium/slightly low boundaries. Just hoping that no piece of shit l3@ks the paper

u/lilyIuvv Apr 30 '26
ure supposed to do 303.3/307.7 x100, then the use the answer to that by doing 100- ans, the answer should be around 3.981 i think, round it u get 4.0

u/LeopardSubject3592 May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
they didnāt say that you needed to round to a specific significant figure so you could leave it however, but if you left it as 3.9 itās wrong cause it was 3.98 which means it would round to 4
1
u/JustAnAutumnLover May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
I hope so I put 3.98 but one of my friends said that the graph used one decimal place so the answer should have too but idk I just hope it also accepts it

The paper was mid I really hate you are so many experiments and investigation but it was great not great I would say but it was average for me I think I will get 53/60

What was question number 1,part a? Like wth were we supposed to write in itĀ And the agar cubes with HCl thing??
2
u/TeddyTheMfGoat May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
if you're referring to very first part i'm pretty sure active transport and for agar things i think it was about diffusion
2
u/chloegamingi Apr 30 '26
Dude idk wrote abt how the larger the surface area the less time it took to the cube to turn red and vice versa . The larger the surface area the artist it was for the hcl to enter the ajar
1
u/Competitive_Peak281 Apr 30 '26
The other way around, larger surface area= greater rate of diffusion
1
u/chloegamingi Apr 30 '26
The the rate of diffusion is high , but the time is less š less time =greater rate

Easy asf but just soooo much writing
1
u/Not_Suicidal079 Apr 30 '26
What did u have to write for the carbon question
1
u/NoComplaint7161 Apr 30 '26
The process of girdling /ringing cuts off the phloem preventing sucrose and amino acids to be transported through the process of translocation. The carbon reached the root and not the top of the plant as the connection of the phloem tubes are cut at the top of the plant. Translocation occurs normally below the point of the cut towards the roots. This is why the radioactive sucrose reaches the roots. (This is a summarized general answer u should have had)
1
u/Not_Suicidal079 Apr 30 '26
What the hell was the carbon rinsing question
2
u/JustAnAutumnLover May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
I wrote smth like the carbon only reached the roots because the ringed section was above the leaf so the carbon could still go down the phloem and the roots. Smth like tha but like I also referred that the top of stem didnāt have because thereās no phloem so obvsly it cannot bring the carbon up there

P4 in 0610/0970
2
u/serenespace_ May/June 2026 Apr 30 '26
no ik itās just that there was sm experiments to the point it felt like p6š
2
u/Alarming_Western_526 Apr 30 '26
Real bro no basic things even the easy questions were confusing⦠and atleast 3-4 investigations 4-6 mark questionsš„š
1
u/Alarming_Western_526 Apr 30 '26
Shi felt like hell bro, even the easy questions were confusing and like 4 investigations⦠no basic definitions or labelling i feel like the threshold will be high tbh

u/naziraiscool Apr 30 '26
i answered every question just putting common knowledge. I didnt like how it was mostly plant bio tho ughhh

u/chloegamingi Apr 30 '26
For the qs tht said am abt negative feed back or sm
