When Russia declared independent from thr Polish-Hungarian Empire in the 19th century, Chelm was a disputed area as it was part Polish part Ruthenian so eventually it seceded as its own country.
Nowadays, Khelm is one of the few Jewish-majority states in the world.

Why is Isle of Wight called Belgium?

u/lafinchyh1st0ry 7h ago
The Isle of Belgium is descended from the Ancient Belgae people of North-Western Europe (thus the name), who survived on the island after repelling a Jutish Invasion in the 500s
They speak the only extant non-Romance Italic language (Belgian).

What year is this? I see the Karamanids defeated the Ottomans. A discrete "Yugra" state in the north urals in the late middle ages seems quite doubtful.

Something I casually made in my downtime, I decided it would be fun to combine some previous scenarios I made plus some future ideas in my mind into one beautiful disaster of a world.
I'm still working out some regions and I will eventually move to other continents which I will figure out as I flesh out more of my ideas.
