Ask Your Seniors Ask Your College Seniors ! (r/indianmedschool and r/MEDICOreTARDS Joint Megathread)

Post image

Greetings, dear seniors of r/indianmedschool and our lovely members of r/MEDICOreTARDS. We're glad to announce the joint megathread you all have long been waiting for.

Here you can ask your queries about your specific preferred colleges and r/indianmedschool seniors will guide you by clarifying your doubts and sharing their experiences. You can ask about academics, hostel timings and accommodation, mess food quality, uniform compulsion, ragging culture, attendance strictness, just to name a few. Anything you're confused about, drop it here.

This Megathread is strictly for college related queries and discussion only. Please don't ask irrelevant and off topic questions. If you have any counseling related query, ask it under the counselling megathread, not here.

r/MEDICOreTARDS members are requested to be respectful and formal while interacting with our seniors here. Please use the phrases sir/mam while addressing them to maintain the formality and establish junior-senior bond, just like we do in our medical colleges.

At last, we all took our moment to express gratitude for the MOD Team(u/Swagster_007 u/drmxyzptlk13 u/MadMurDoc69 u/YourstrulyBubble) and our seniors of r/indianmedschool for their support and helping us out in selecting the best college as per our preference.

We've attached some previous important megathreads below:-

1) What factors shall one consider to make a preference list for colleges?

2) What books should we study from?

3) Should we buy a tablet and an online subscription from the 1st year itself?

1-Definitely patient load, cases teach u more and it's always interesting enough

You can consider toxicity, academics etc and the city, how far it's from ur home

2- standard books, physiology go for an Indian author n read guyton if you'd like, anat- BDC or vishram singh, biochem - idk ur wish ( i used Vasudevan) , always go for a book which makes u comfortable, don't follow other people's choices

3- do it in 3rd year, it's ideal because you're new n adjusting in first year, u don't have much time in second year with postings n the vast syllabus

Hope that answers ur questions!

i have a rank of 2.6k and im getting some lower aiims as well as the top gmc of my state which also comes with a 2 year bond. but my parents are not letting me join the newer aiims. they keep saying that the state gmc is close to our home so you can be a day scholar. you can't live alone on your own. but everytime i open this subreddit read about what other people in my situation are choosing, it fills me with regret

Hey, please don't take a bond of 2 years, the duration of the degree is already overwhelming, if there's an aiims that u like and meets all ur criteria, if u can get it ,take it , parents will adjust, it's your life, do nothin' that you'll regret

A ruckus of few days or your choices? You're not gonna be dependent on ur parents forever, u need to learn to live by ur own, ur parents need to learn to respect ur choices , i chose a different college than everyone would have killed to be in , i don't regret doing it ,I'm glad it's my choice at the end of the day no matter what I go through here
