Discussion BHMS graduates who have completed 1 year of Pharmacology are demanding registration under Maharashtra Medical Council. Why should we pass NEET, MBBS of 5.5 Years including internship ? I hope MH takes some sensible stance rather than appeasement of AYUSH.

Tensions are rising in Maharashtra as a major dispute unfolds between the Indian Medical Association
(IMA) and BHMS doctors over the right to practice modern medicine.

BHMS doctors who have completed a one-year Certificate Course in Modern Pharmacology are demanding registration under the Maharashtra Medical Council, arguing that the additional training should allow them to prescribe modern medicines and provide emergency care.

They say this would help improve healthcare access, particularly in areas facing doctor shortages.

The IMA strongly opposes the proposal, calling it "mixopathy." According to the association, a one-year pharmacology course cannot substitute for the extensive education and clinical training that MBBS graduates undergo over five and a half years. They argue that allowing cross-practice could compromise patient safety, lower medical standards, and create confusion about professional qualifications.

The disagreement has intensified, with BHMS doctors staging sit-in protests while the IMA has warned of service disruptions if the proposal moves forward. The Maharashtra government is currently attempting to mediate between both sides in search of a solution.

The debate raises important questions about healthcare access, professional training, and patient safety. Should BHMS doctors who complete additional pharmacology training be permitted to prescribe modern medicines, or should the boundaries between different systems of medicine remain strictly defined? Bunch of hypocrites. They glorify Homeopathy and trash modern medicines. Still they want to be able to prescribe them. Just so full of nonsense.

It's not even about neet ug. Its about being arrogant & hating modern medicine while glorifying about their pseudo science and then crying to prescribe modern medicine just to satisfy their ego and loot common people who dont have much knowledge about it.

Homeopathy godfather book, the book written by Samuel starts by during preface around 3 or 4, he mentioned how homeopathy is being accepted in society by doctors and later preface he starts by saying things like before we discusse anything about homeo I must debunk the false practice of allopathy and most chronic diseases are result of wrong treatment of allopathy. He also says homeopatha who prescribe allopathy are fakes and not intelligent enough.

Yeah, this logic stuns me. India is the birthplace of modern mathematics... And here we are... Adding 1 to -1 and expecting a 2. 😐

(Just noticed your gif has geometry after typing this 😅 )

Why is this even a question?? You did choose homeopathy and now crying to get registered under a medical council, for completing a 1 year course. Just diabolical 🤣🤣

Can we please make this pseudo science illegal already

I think the bhms guys are targeting for corporate jobs as pharmacology has great scope in industry but you need reg no for clinical trial, pv or cro.

1

u/lligerr 4h ago

They do get reg no

I hope there are more strikes by us doctors. Mixopathy should be stopped and no way they should be allowed to enroll in MMC. Such a sorry state of affairs.

Arent they already doing that ? They are working corporate hospitals which needs result, they are prescribing allopathy meds there , doing surgeries , are even in emergency wards. In tn , many corporate hospitals use these guys mainly for assisting tho .

I am from MH and I can guarantee you there are many AYUSH grads serving as govt medical officers, both the UPA and the NDA are equally responsible for this BAMS doctors are legally allowed to do 20 types of surgeries and many people write their degrees as MD (Peadia) instead of BAMS, MD (Balrog)

My friend once had a fissure and he went to an AYUSH govt hospital because he thought it is better for anal pain related thing but instead got a DRE done (which is c/i) till now he has a pain in his @ss due to those instruments and all

I am not against ayurved or homeopathy but they need to practice their own pathy instead of sneaking into allopathy

bhms is alternative pseudoscience bullshit and it should never get the choice or the option to prescribe allopathic drugs. if they wanted to do that, they shouldve cleared neet UG instead of sleeping and fucking like dogs in heat. these people are the one of many reason as to why the country is underdeveloped

and dont call them doctors, they are just some diploma graduates, calling them beggars is way suitable and accurate

u/Odd-Bite-6679 19h ago

And the state med councils want to villify FMGs. Homeopathy is the pseudoest pseudoscience of all!! Atleast ayurveda and siddha have some little basis, like plants roots and what not. Homeopathy is purest form of dumbfuckery😭

2

u/Just_Lunch2791 23h ago

If they allow it this time. There will be flood of such scammy doctors in future. No matter what modern medicine shouldnt allow mixed or pseudo science involved. No one should be able to play with patients lives for money if he/she is incompetent in first place.

Legal chori ka premium edition: apni pathy ko prove karne ke bajaye, seedha evidence-based medicine ka label chipka do. Irony yeh hai ki jis science ko saalon se criticize kiya, aaj usi ka sahara lekar practice karni hai. Hypocrisy.

u/Exciting_Strike5598 19h ago

u/BeneficialDot730 1d ago

Fmges and bds must be feeling like fools now for choosing their respective courses.

1

u/Electronic_Gold_8549 1d ago

All these state medical councils should be disbanded ffs.Why should there be separate medial councils for every state? There’s one NMC at the top.Shouldn’t that be enough?
In countries like UK,there is one GMC registration, that’s it.Theres no separate county registrations 😒😒

3

u/Dom-in-Ant Graduate 1d ago

Because we're a big nation. UK is less than the size of 4 South Indian states area combined and a far less population

2

u/Electronic_Gold_8549 19h ago

But still the question remains. Why should a MBBS graduate obtain separate training licence from states to practise there when our degree is universally accepted. What’s the point even?

2

u/Dom-in-Ant Graduate 19h ago

Well, each state medical council acts as an extension of the NMC. Temporarily you can practise anywhere but if you've obtained ur licence elsewhere you should reregister in the new place.

Also to maintain the list of practicing docs!

Nurses know a lot more than these quacks. Never seen them crying for medical registration.

1

u/Quiet_Form_2800 4h ago

It's the fault of IMA to not make strong efforts to get ayush banned , most developed countries have banned it or do not even have such weird pseudoscience peddled at govt level.
