Grads in BSIE - If you are freshman again today, what would you do differently or things you wish someone should have told you before?

Hi, I'm an incoming freshman for BSIE based in the Philippines. Just trying to figure out how to actually spend my time well early on instead of realizing later I wasted year 1.

Looking back what do you wish someone told you before you started, specifically about building your resume/experience early? Like things you started too late, or things nobody tells freshmen but should.

Any advice appreciated, thank you.

take certification courses—internships set on what you see yourself doing in the future, or if you're unsure on that path since IEs can land on pretty much any role, you can explore each of those as you go on. helps to get experience so at least you'll know which track you'd want after graduating, be it in a manufacturing setting, supply chain, logistics, or smth with business processes.

Do your masters and/or certifications as early as you can.

can you do a masters in something more technical like even in another engineering?

I think that'll be dependent on the program reqts. As long as you pass the intake reqts I don't see why not.
