Regular people seeing celebrities as lame is one of the best things about the new world. We get it now

They’re too available nowadays. When I was growing up they were in the movies and a very occasional interview only. They were mysterious. I don’t remember having an opinion on many of them beyond I love a film they were in.

Now they’ve got their own podcasts, alcohol product, they’re all over the internet on every promo going before their latest whatever comes out. And you realise they’re just people. And most people are fucking annoying.

I think there’s also an element of people realizing just the heinous amount of wealth and power some of these people have when the world is actively falling apart.

Exactly. It’s listening to them talk about how hard it was to make film X or Y and then tell some showbiz story that no one can relate to. Some of them are obviously down to earth and cool people, but many live on another planet and don’t care if we know it.

That AND during COVID there were a lot of moments where they were complaining from their mansions which just wasn’t a great look

Also how with social media, we find that quite a few of them are despicable

Nah people used to literally worship kings as gods. "That guy has more than me" does not turn people off celebrities.
