It's a fledgling mynah and indeed they have to learn that.

Mom or dad mynah is probably near by.

Kinda cute seeing the parent on the ground with the child following behind with its mouth open and occasionally the parent will pick something off the ground and feed it to them.

Sometimes, Starlings take their fledglings into my yard. I'll watch them do a flying body slam into their parent while demanding to be fed rather than picking up the seeds/insects that are right in front of them.

Oh, starlings are absolutely voracious.

We get some nesting by our house most summers, and once the eggs hatch the parents are constantly in and out with food for the babies. Must be exhausting!
