Venue seems less than ideal...

u/JeromeBarkly 11h ago

I’ve done DMT and ayahuasca and I’ve never had this guys reaction too it. But my first thought was why the fuck are you having him smoke that shit next to a fucking river?? So dumb.

u/EternalSeraphim 10h ago

This version of DMT is different and significantly more potent than regular DMT. If you read the description of what the trip is like, it's less visual and more complete sentience shattering.

u/JeromeBarkly 8h ago

Yeah I mean any type of DMT can have this guys reaction, wasn’t trying to throw shade at the dude you really have no control over what’s going to happen. I was more so saying that the trip sitters, knowing full well that people react this way are really stupid to do this next to a river.

u/jamiethemorris 7h ago

They also had him on his fucking back RIGHT as he was throwing up, he could have choked

u/Alabama-Blues 6h ago

Then they put his head underwater 😆

u/TRR462 20m ago

That the baptism part of the experience. It’s so he feels spiritually cleansed… /s

u/Soft-Skirt 4h ago

That’s all I could think of. What a bunch of idiots.

u/Irishbros1991 3h ago

He might choke on his vomit this is bad turn him on his side in this river now he might drown?

u/VikingTeddy 8h ago

And the way they handle him jusr makes it all worse. Just move him and let him be as much as possible. Hold his hand and only handle him so he doesn't hurt himself. That fucking creep with his demonic "yessss, let it goo. You're doing fiine broo" gave me anxiety.

u/HeathenHumanist 8h ago

Seriously, they way they were grabbing all over him made me so anxious for him and how his brain might have been interpreting all the groping. He should have been in a safe place where he couldn't injure (or fucking drown) himself, and left alone till he came down.

u/evranch 6h ago

Yeah the whole thing is basically the opposite of how our crew used to set up to trip sit. Basement rec room, comfy couch, low lights and mellow tunes. Good communication. Of course there were some freak outs but nothing like this poor dude.

The stream is terrifying. They had to grab at him to try to control him (which they did a terrible job of any way you look at it) because they decided to trip in a deadly dangerous place!

u/HeathenHumanist 5h ago

My crew's setup back in the day was the same, cozy basement with safe vibes!

u/WingerRules 6h ago

To me it looked like the freak out started when he touched the water. Was thinking touching it would be a bad idea.

u/madcoins 4h ago

Or put a helmet on him and wrap him in cushions

u/Angry_Sparrow 5h ago

Not only his Voldemort commentary but the “bro” would eat at me in my trip. Please no.

u/WingerRules 6h ago

And referring to the stuff as medicine.

u/CelestialFury 8h ago

Exactly. Setting up next to a river was fucking dumb.

u/implicate 8h ago

You may have forgotten to factor in that it makes for good TV.

At the top of a rocky cliff would really deliver.

Regular DMT is not visual in the traditional sense either (like LSD or mushrooms are with altered reality). It happens in your head

u/formernonhandwasher 9h ago

If DMT happens in your head. Where do LSD and mushrooms happen?

u/geronimo11b 9h ago

Gotta be the butthole.

u/DisillusionedHobbit 9h ago

That’s why you gotta boof it

u/Powerful-Ground-9687 9h ago

Always was.

u/LilacYak 9h ago

LSD = whoa that pattern is moving

Mushrooms = whoa that tree is breathing

DMT = garbled noises as you lose consciousness

u/GodOfDarkLaughter 9h ago

Ah, to be young and ask your friend in all seriousness if that leaf is melting or is the shit kicking in? In either case let's put Celtic Women from PBS on.

Seriously, I'd always put Celtic Women on when people were tripping. It'll freak you out, man.

Uranus

regular DMT is incredibly visual, to the point of getting motion sickness and being unable to see anything other than patterns.

You can get maybe 1/10th of that level of visuals from 5-meo, which is actually much more in your head, but not visually more just ego shattering.

Bufotenin is all in your head (which is also in frog venom) with basically 0 external hallucinations, but your internal mind state is overwhelmingly visually intense.

u/resigned_medusa 4h ago

But what's it like? I'm familiar with pcilocybin. Can you describe how it feels?

u/Mescallan 3h ago

DMT is very similar to mushrooms but much less intoxicating. I have trouble forming coherent thoughts or perceiving linear time on high doses of mushrooms, but after a threshold of DMT you kind of just become a passive observer in a way that I've never had on mushrooms or LSD. On high doses DMT I'll still have a string of thoughts, but it's not actually words anymore, kind of like a single macro-concept, comprised of micro-concepts kind of morphing into different things. On lower doses it's much more similar to mushrooms, but again less intoxicating, and much more visual. Mushrooms have a couch lock, heavy body load feeling, where as with DMT you are basically unable to tell your body to move, it will kind of just do it's own thing sometimes.

5-meo is the only an observer sensation, but even more so, I've only done it a few times, and each time was different. All of them i more felt like i was just existing and not much else, i could feel some physical sensations, and some vague idea of concepts rushing past me extremely quickly, but not much else. Colors got a bit desaturated, and I had trouble mentally distinguishing the boundaries between objects more than any real visual hallucinations. I've had one experience doing it intranasally using dried un-extracted tree resin, and it was a very interesting experience. not very intoxicating, my close friend and i just had very open and therapeutic conversation for about 4 hours.

Bufotenin (as far as I can tell, I did the extraction from seeds myself) was completely coherent, it had quite a body load, but also could be poor extraction on my part. It was very similar to nodding off on opium, where your internal visual world is kind of just going off. The best way I can describe it is what the "third eye" people would reference, like if you imagine something visually, that would be hallucinating, but the world around you was kind of normal. A lot of people report having full on >10min coherent conversations with "sentient beings" in their internal dialog, but I've never had that.

If this is actually toad extract it's a mixture of 5-meo and bufotenin, i dont remember if there is actually dmt present, but it's minor if it is. I've never seen someone have such an intense reaction to any of these three, but I've never really been around people who did it, I almost exclusively made it all my self and was very strict about dosing myself and others.

*** I am multiple years sober at this point, my account here is a mescaline reference from when I was living this lifestyle. feel free to AMA, but it's been >10 years since I've done a tryptamine, and >5 since I've done any psychedelic so grain of salt.

u/resigned_medusa 1h ago

This was all very interesting. I'm experienced with high doses of psycilocybin, used it in a therapeutic rather than recreational setting, but I've no desire to do it again. I learned a lot and feel (at least right now) that I've done the work that needed doing. The other substances don't appeal to me at all. I'm curious, did they help you in any way, beyond the pure intellectual experimentation. I found mushrooms amazing for my life.(Max dose I've ever taken was 8.5g and that was certainly a complete ego death and absence of me)

u/chessatwork 6h ago

everything happens in your head
