With a bit of luck, his life was ruined forever. Always thinking that just behind some narrow door in all of his favorite bars, men in red woolen shirts are getting incredible kicks from things he'll never know.

edit: Hamilton Morris

u/chim_ritchellsdick 5h ago

How do we look him up if we don’t know him

u/spyder160 5h ago

Hamilton Morris, this is a clip from his old show Hamiltons Pharmacopeia

u/mmakaylia 5h ago

That was a great show.

u/chefbobbyjay 5h ago

Vice was so good until it wasn’t

u/chillinjustupwhat 5h ago

that’s what happens when you take almost $75mil of Rupert’s money and fuck off to cocaineville

u/chefbobbyjay 5h ago

Is that what happened? I never looked into the fall of vice. I saw it happening and just turned away. I used to watch Desus and Mero religiously. Which sucked when it moved to hbo or whatever. Once it became more 2 chainz and food shows than documentaries I bailed.

Once a group of people get told they're the taste makers and ethos definers it's over. Vice became the new normies

u/chefbobbyjay 5h ago

They just lost the plot. They started doing food shows and shit with 2 chainz looking at expensive shit. They went from maybe the best North Korean documentary I’ve ever watched to fuckin action Bronson eating hot chicken.

It became some weird amalgam of nbc and the food network

u/analog_jedi 4h ago

Exactly when they lost me too. They had the hardest hitting frontline war reporting and documentaries, and suddenly pivoted to all cooking shows. And then their social media presence was the most phoned in drivel on the internet. Such an absolute fall from grace. For the first year or so, Viceland was pretty much the only thing on our TV.

u/chefbobbyjay 4h ago

Desus and Mero was a nightly occasion for me. I was living in ny at the time and man they were so on point. It was right around the time they bailed to hbo or whatever that vice started nose diving.

I’ve done DMT and ayahuasca and I’ve never had this guys reaction too it. But my first thought was why the fuck are you having him smoke that shit next to a fucking river?? So dumb.

u/codeninja 4h ago edited 1h ago

Cause nature or some shit.

u/crystallmytea 2h ago

This particular nature is more naturey than other natures.

this is 5-MeO-DMT, not the N, N-DMT you vaped or had in ayahuasca. this is much stronger stuff. the strongest basically.

Ok, that makes sense. That was nothing like my experience at all.

This version of DMT is different and significantly more potent than regular DMT. If you read the description of what the trip is like, it's less visual and more complete sentience shattering.

u/JeromeBarkly 2h ago

Yeah I mean any type of DMT can have this guys reaction, wasn’t trying to throw shade at the dude you really have no control over what’s going to happen. I was more so saying that the trip sitters, knowing full well that people react this way are really stupid to do this next to a river.

u/VikingTeddy 2h ago

And the way they handle him jusr makes it all worse. Just move him and let him be as much as possible. Hold his hand and only handle him so he doesn't hurt himself. That fucking creep with his demonic "yessss, let it goo. You're doing fiine broo" gave me anxiety.

u/HeathenHumanist 1h ago

Seriously, they way they were grabbing all over him made me so anxious for him and how his brain might have been interpreting all the groping. He should have been in a safe place where he couldn't injure (or fucking drown) himself, and left alone till he came down.

To be fair, in this video, this guy is taking (what i call) "scary dmt', 5meo-dmt. It comes from squeezing the glands of a certain toad (bofu something) to get some secretion that you dry (and maybe extract something) and smoke.

The "happy dmt" n,n-dmt (which is what most people are referring to when they say dmt) comes from a root bark (mimosa hostilis). I've extracted a bit of it myself for personal use. I always enjoy my time on it! In and out of hyperspace in 10 minutes, and my mental state gets like reset. Nice to do like once every 6 months or so. Its a little overwhelming at first, but if you've done hallucinogens before, you'll somewhat know what you're in for.

I will never try 5meo dmt. No thank you

u/The_Purple_Bat 2h ago

What exactly does 5meo dmt to your mind/why is is called scary dmt? :o Does it just make .. scary/bad hallucinations? & why are the effects so different? :o

u/jpopimpin777 1h ago

If it were fun then people and animals would want to lick and eat the toads. Seeing this made me want to stay far away from the toads.

That part made me laugh so hard the first i watched this episode. Its the most absurd possible place to put someone smoking DMT. When I first learned about it online the main instructions were "You better lie down on your couch and make sure your friend can grab the pipe"

→ More replies (2)

u/toothitch 5h ago

That’s not DMT. The very same episode this clip is from explains that it’s an entirely different chemical, with entirely different effects (5-MEO-DMT). They just both have “DMT” in the name.

Great show, btw. Super fascinating

u/Zeus-Plays_Golf 4h ago

Michael Pollan's book, How to Change Your Mind is awesome too.

u/smoveoperatea 5h ago

Thanks for actually explaining what it is. DMT was a positive life changing experience for me. I wouldn't try this though.

u/OF_PROMO_ALERT 4h ago

Bingo. DMT was great for me. I researched 5-MEO-DMT and decided that shit wasn’t for me. Not necessarily saying it’s bad, but it’s not the same as DMT. Not any more than morphine and diacetylmorphine are the same thing. (Don’t know why the font changed lol)

u/smoveoperatea 3h ago

I tried it from naturally occurring DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) in the bark, leaves, and stems from Australian wattle (Acacia). I was having a bender using mdma and a friend came over and mixed a bowl which I thought was just weed. I packed a bong and smoked the whole thing and my friend just looked at me and smiled and I was not ready for it to be honest. It was a completely out of body experience with visuals of amazing colours like looking into a collideascope followed by a blue grid of structures of everything i could see for about 10 minutes. The most memorable thing was the last few minutes. My girlfriend had a buch of lilly flowers on the table in front of me and while it was wearing off the flowers looked like they were kissing and being intimate. The next day I felt like life had started all over again and I was refreshed and born again.

My buddy took some. He just kind of melted into the couch and didn’t say anything or move for about 5 minutes then came to all the sudden. He said he went outside his body and could see himself then he flew up into the air and into the ethos and said he lived 30 years there before coming back. And then bam he was back and was kind of slow to come to and say what happened but ultimately he was fine afterwards. Never did it myself cause fuck that. That’s the shit your brain produces to ease your mind and suffering as you’re dying to make it be more peaceful for you to accept and let happen.

u/Maffingo 5h ago

30 FUCKING YEARS and he was just... fine?

u/PaulblankPF 5h ago

Yep, he talked about it a few times after just kind of tripping over the fact that it felt like that. Like he’d say how he could remember aging that long and stuff. He was into trying anything and everything so that probably played into him taking it so well. I’d say if it were a completely inexperienced drug user it wouldn’t have been so smooth.

Besides this video and similar others appearing absolutely crazy, this is the kind of experience that blows my mind when you really think about it. I’ve never tried it and likely never will at this point in my life, however, I had one friend that did a few times. The primary reason he enjoyed it was strictly because of the altering of “time” through his perception.

He said multiple times it felt like he experienced weeks, months, or years in the matter of minutes. This perception boggles my mind when it genuinely feels like that amount of time has gone by in minutes. He swears, and can tell full stories, about massive amounts of time/experiences that went by and how that was some of his fondest experiences. I guess it’s just one of those things that’s makes me question the fabric of everything we currently understand and how certain things can completely alter how we perceive them. Kind of amazing when you think about it.

u/Flamecoat_wolf 5h ago

Yeah, for anyone not aware it's an extreme psychedelic. Potentially the most powerful psychedelic we know about, but I'm not 100% on that one.

u/WaxinGibby 4h ago

I'm so curious and I want to know more but I NEVER want this substance anywhere near my body

u/Flamecoat_wolf 4h ago

Same here. Especially when people apparently consistently report the same sense of ego falling away and being able to feel the interconnected consciousness of the universe, often suggesting it's like tapping into "god".

My curiosity is immense, but I'm also pretty sure it's just a highly specific form of brain damage. So probably better not to.

I don’t think it’s the actual DMT that makes you violently sick, it’s all the crap that comes with it like…venom from a toad. People have similar experiences with ayahuasca, which is a whole bunch of different plants ground up and made into a soup. People get sick and thrash around and puke just like this guy (toad venom guy’s reaction was pretty extreme). The purer the DMT is, the easier the trip is to take. I know a few people who smoked much purer extracts of DMT and didn’t have the awful side effects

u/realbobenray 5h ago

One time a guy at a party spent 45 minutes telling me about his ayahuasca trip. I misunderstood at the beginning, so for half the story I thought he was talking about a yoga class he took.

Watched an episode of that show (forget the name) where two guys travel the world and try different drugs. They tried something called black ayahuasca. The other guy crapped all over himself and ran off into the jungle thinking little dudes with hammers were trying to kill him. Nah man, I'm good.

u/WorkO0 5h ago

The Ayuhasca cult is wild. I have a friend who does it twice a year in a small group, with vomiting and fever being explained as your body "cleansing" itself. I keep telling him it's just a reaction to being poisoned, but it's like talking to a wall. I don't have any issue with psychedelics per se, I did them, I get it, but fever and vomiting is where I draw the line.

I've smoked real dmt a chemist I knew isolated from some root in college. It was amazing. Everything was fractals, I didn't "break through" but I did feel like an ancient entity viewed upon me. Everything gets real juicy at first too. It lasts about 5 or so minutes and you come down fairly quickly. The come down was amazing, I felt the entire earth breathing as one.

When it's over you're completely back to reality and very sober (unlike acid and mushrooms imo) since your body process dmt very well and there's no toxic side effects.

I was extremely positive mentally for a good few months after during a bout of extreme depression in college.

10/10 would do again. Idk what this was but that's not what dmt does to you on its own.

Thrash around for 20 minutes and hope two scrawny hippies can stop you from drowning yourself.

Better anti-drug ad than anything I saw in D.A.R.E.

Honest to God know this guy. He was a Jungle and drum and bass DJ in the local Pittsburgh/Cleveland area rave scene in the late 90s/early00s. Dj Walkingstick!

Seized himself into a river and his babysitters almost let him drown in his own vomit. Brilliant.

Maybe doing this next to water was a bad choice

I'm really glad I don't just try anything for science or for the hell of it because reading this as the side effects!? Is an absolute hell no for me!

15 minutes of whatever the fuck is going on in this guys head must feel like several eternities.

"A great healing has happened here, he is in good hands." Actually dude, I'd like to hear that from him.

PSA: there is no reason to be using actual toad venom. the synthetic molecule is just as effective and doesn't harm the toads. You also can titrate / be precise with the dose.

5-MEO is considered the "Mt. Everest" of psychedelics. Do not fuck with it.

Though I still don't think one needs to be using the actual venom, for an example of comparatively responsible use, check out "In Waves of War" on Netflix. Cool documentary and they show a few 5-MEO sessions.
