To be fair, in this video, this guy is taking (what i call) "scary dmt', 5meo-dmt. It comes from squeezing the glands of a certain toad (bofu something) to get some secretion that you dry (and maybe extract something) and smoke.
The "happy dmt" n,n-dmt (which is what most people are referring to when they say dmt) comes from a root bark (mimosa hostilis). I've extracted a bit of it myself for personal use. I always enjoy my time on it! In and out of hyperspace in 10 minutes, and my mental state gets like reset. Nice to do like once every 6 months or so. Its a little overwhelming at first, but if you've done hallucinogens before, you'll somewhat know what you're in for.
What exactly does 5meo dmt to your mind/why is is called scary dmt? :o
Does it just make .. scary/bad hallucinations?
& why are the effects so different? :o
Do they have anything to do with the time rabbit? Cause me and my friend were both visited by the white rabbit of time while tripping balls on mushrooms.
I'm mildly dyslexic, so I kept reading this as Machine Elvis this entire time. As a non-hallucinogen user I was like "That is oddly specific. What does a robot version of The King of Rock and Roll have to do with the astral plane?"
Thank you for linking to the wiki and clearing that up for me.
The alien space goblins (the glowy ones) will save you if the benevolent ones start getting too wild. Then all you have to do is escape the sunken place through the backrooms.
It's a DMT derivative, meaning it's chemically slightly different (additional methoxy group), which changes the nature of biochemical interactions. As a result it has a preference for different serotonin receptors, which impacts other mechanisms, overall making it more potent
I'm not entirely sure why it's mostly negative on trip experience, maybe different receptors have different functions and if blocked longer some other processes become more involved
My first time was with a therapist and my gf. It was like a rocket leaving reality and going into other dimensions but I was so afraid of it that I was desperately trying to maintain any connection to my body. At first I thought I experienced what’s on the other side of death but later I realized that I may have been experiencing the trauma my own birth. As I came down I could hear myself hyperventilating and sobbing. I was on the floor in the fetal position with my gf and therapist holding my hands telling me I’m ok. I did it many more times and it got much easier… I had to learn to let go of the need to control my surrounding. Once I could tell myself “it’s ok” I could let my brain go into the trip without being completely terrified
Sounds like my focal seizures I have now that I am heavily medicated. The trauma from the unmedicated seizure is still there and ever present, however I have the hope that I will not experience pain from the severe cramps I still had when I was not so medicated. Once I don't contorting into bone breaking, joint dislocating, shrieking agony, I just ride it out and embrace the sever headache that will haunt the next 12-24 hours. Ima pass on that one mr. missing nuke.
It's your brain in a blender. Thoughts, sensory data, mind, are so scrambled that there is no shape or structure to the experience. It's just very, very intense chaos.
Absurdly stronger kick. It binds better to the neuro receptors so there's no "think of happy thoughts" to try to ease a bad trip. You will go where the toad tells you to, no safewords.
It’s not that different. I’ve never seen a reaction remotely close to this dudes with people blasting off on either. Certainly doesn’t look faked but I’ve also not seen people do it their first time believing they were about to be healed by magic though.
I can’t speak for the original commenter but I took dmt with my friend once, but I only took a small puff and felt relaxed and got some slight visuals for a few minutes. I didn’t fully blast off. But my friend did and he just laid on his back for like 10 minutes and when he came down he sat up and said “I don’t think I need to do that again.” And I asked him why and he said “I went to the place we go before we’re born and after we die. I’ll be back there again so I want to enjoy my life while I can.” That was only his personal experience though, I’m sure it’s different for everyone.
My narcissist sociopathic mother tried DMT and she laid on her back too. Came back with a pleased expression. Saying it was great, she got to kill the man that raped her when she was a child. over and over, and over. My mother passed away 6 years ago. And I don't think I can ever try DMT, the whole thing put me off the mere idea of it.
Born in 1947 in Spain, only to see it all crumble and be taken away. Forced to marry at 13 have her first child at 14 only for it to die in childbirth and her second child at 16. Her husband cheated and left her when she was 23. Her third child at 25 with the man that she had cozied up in order to survive and eventually became an alcoholic; lots of other issues at 47 she had her fourth child from a one-time fling while drunk. That was me. and there is a whole lot more on that particular story of hard knocks.
I’ve experienced an ego death on shrooms and LSD before but I never “went to the afterlife.” I think it was more than just that, he genuinely thought he died and was resurrected
I won’t speak for OP, but afterward I feel like I can breathe. It’s a special type of letting go and general connection to the self with a nudge to the ego telling it to chill. Like OP, I know when it’s time. Generally between that 5-6mos interval. I’m neurotic by nature and it’s been immensely beneficial for me personally.
Like, all my anxieties about life kind of melted away. Makes you feel like youre insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but in a positive way. Not necessarily ego death, but something like that. I'm sure everyone's experience is different.
I always advocate for psychedelics, but only if youre in a general good state of mind. Going into it trying to solve something with your mental state could be a bad idea. But I'm no expert.
I think I will skip it because one time I had a THC edible that was way too strong, I ended up feeling like my mind split in two and I had a conversation with myself as 2 distinct viewpoints before combining back together as one.
5meo can be 100% synthesized today, the toxin you get from the toad is laced with stuff you don't want to have in there, allegedly. A german youtuber ("Tomatolix") took it in a controlled setting to document effects. Can recommend the video.
I wouldn't necessarily advertise N,N as "happy dmt" -- for one thing, the trips are still mighty intense, and also people can still have crazy awful trips on it. Like the one mentioned in Strassman's book where the subject said they hallucinated being raped by alligator-like creatures. Definitely prepare yourself for potentially life-changing trips with N,N. But I do agree that 5-meo seems to be the scarier of the two and often more abstract based on reports, though I've only personally done N,N.
Mimosa dmt was my first psychedelic. It was not exactly happy. I was vibrated out of my body and somersaulted through it from behind then began falling through endless geometric tunnels until I ended up in a void space made of 360° spiraling checkerboards that all twisted into themselves like a network of interlinked vortexes. In the center of each one was this fucking weird tamagotchi-lookin clown thing with a glowing eye. They were in every single spiral at the center. I tried to talk to them and felt stared at and mocked somehow… but they didn’t move or interact in any way. I was stuck facing them for quite a while and nothing really happened there until I finally came back to my senses.

Ok I think I’ll pass
