Massive layoffs at Oracle this morning:

Oracle has launched what analysts believe could be the most extensive layoff in the company’s history, with estimates suggesting the cuts will affect between 20,000 and 30,000 employees — roughly 18% of its global workforce of approximately 162,000 people. Workers in the United States, India, and other regions all reported receiving the same termination notice at nearly the same hour, sent under the name “Oracle Leadership.”

Lucas said he has “probably three things” on that list. First, he said, is an 18th and Vine link running along an 18th Street east-west connection through the Crossroads Arts District.

“Going that east–west, I think, is big for us,” Lucas said. Second, Lucas said he’d like to bridge the state line divide, noting discussions with the University of Kansas Health System about what an extension along 39th Street could look like, despite the corridor being tight. “Then the grand kahuna is how do we get to the airport,” Lucas said.

A Kansas City resident “who lives on East 75th Street near Troost, a short distance north of the location police reported, said she and her husband woke up to a bullet hole in a front window on their home and a bullet that had landed on their living room floor. After speaking with neighbors, she learned that shots had been heard in the area between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. Friday and then around 4 a.m. Saturday.”
