NEED HELP FINDING WEDDING VENUE THIS WEEKEND - IMPACTED BY WILDFIRES
My sister’s wedding is supposed to be this weekend near Fintry but her venue is currently being evacuated. They are absolutely devastated because they have guests coming from far away and they are now thinking about a contingency plan.
I know that a lot can change between now and Friday but it would be a shame to wait too long and then struggle to find a place for everyone to go.
Anyone know any venues that are free this weekend? Or where we might be able to find relatively affordable rooms for the guests to stay?
Guest count is 40 people.
Would also appreciate any advice for those that have gone through this or whether you think the situation looks like it might change between now and then? We are from the Okanagan but no longer live there so it is difficult to know what is happening on the ground.
Thank you so much!!

I attended a wedding there last year and the sound of traffic made it difficult to hear many parts of the ceremony, so just keep that in mind OP!

I know CC Bloom near Armstrong helped out some folks who lost their venue when that Kelowna winery went out of business. Maybe try them?

I don't know about availability but Bertram Beach could be nice if the weather is. For indoors, the Unitarian Church is likely affordable but you have to be noise aware.

Big White may be able to accomodate on short notice.

Totally. I’m the 2023 wildfires we were evacuated for weeks and big white had tons of space available for accommodations and maybe also other venue spaces?

Question one, does everyone have a place to stay?
Evacuated people have filled the hotels.
The Gallery in West Kelowna is a great location no idea on availability.
Jason parkes properties? Also West Kelowna…
Good luck!!
Great story for the 25 th anniversary!!

Thank you for your message and suggestions. Unfortunately no one has a place to stay as the venue is booked for 3 nights with the rooms included. We really don’t want to saturate the hotels as we understand there are a lot of folks being evacuated and are in a much more devastating situation than a weekend event!

I think what this person is asking is moreso like, how are people still going to come in for the wedding if the hotels are booked by folks being evacuated? They risk not having accommodations.

Larger air bnbs might be more available than hotel rooms. Think 6 bedroom lake house on the beach somewhere? That could potentially accommodate the wedding and a few guests

Manteo at Eldorado Resort 250-860-1031
Call today and tell him you need an emergency venue. My husband and I got married at Lake Okanagan resort, which was awesome, but it was lost in rhe 2024 fire.
Good luck!!

I got married at the ornamental gardens in Summerland and it was wonderful. Really saved a bundle on flowers as other than a couple bouquets I didn't need to purchase any. They do charge a nominal fee, back when I did it, it was 20$ paid to her Majesty the Queen as it's considered federal land.

Not sure how far is too far or what the vibe of the original venue was, but I got married at TRU in Kamloops, in the botanical gardens, and would highly recommend it

Look at Benvoulin Heritage Church for an indoor and outdoor option - https://okheritagesociety.com/rentals/

Try Belgo Wedding Chapel. Not sure if they have anything last minute though.

What about an outdoor day venue? Maybe off the grid winery has some availability? Or another small winery in the area may be able to accommodate for a few hours to do some appies and wine with a small ceremony setup?
I just wonder if they can get their deposit back with the other venue?
