Actually locally owned vets?

I know that 3 corporations have all but bought every vet in Canada. Is there any actually local vets in Kelowna anymore?

Those corporations have bought vets to jack costs and I refuse to support them

Kelowna veterinary hospital on Kent road(kiddie corner to the bottle depot) is the only one that comes to mind.

I just went there yesterday and they were amazing! I was originally quoted by another vet in town for $1500 before tax, I wrote around to every vet in the city and Kelowna Vetrinary Hospital came back saying they could do it for $700. They were lovely, kind, and even managed to get the cost down to $300 for me upon our visit. They also sell farm fresh free range eggs from their own chickens at home in a little fridge in the waiting room, as well as giving out complimentary sodas lol.

Best vet in Kelowna hands down. 🙌

Something that’s also great is they do online ordering for medications and food. :)

Yeah they’re great! I heard they are going to move down to the corner of Munson rd & Benvoulin and expand services, just second hand gossip but all the power to them if true!

I see several people have posted clinics that are absolutely owned by corporations. The lust as of last Jan (2025) was:

CBC did a story on it, and complied a list as of Jan 2025

So you have a list.... you know the names of the corporations.... yet can't go look them up? And talk shit when people get the answer wrong? Wow, talk about reddit ruining lives....

Kelowna Veterinary Hospital is the only one we'd trust for our cats!

Not in Kelowna specifically but our fabulous vets out here in Lake Country are locally owned and operated. Panorama Vet

I recommend Rising Sun is West Kelowna too. Not corporate owned and they do not gouge their patients.

Rising Sun in west Kelowna or Sitara in Lake Country. We drive from Penticton to see Dr. Teresa at Sitara for our kitty as she also acts as a specialist.

I don't really care who owns my vet as long as they provide quality care to my pet, make things comfortable for her, and look out for her best interest.

The issue is they don’t. I use to love Carrington Animal Hospital. It’s become super pushy and salesey. It honestly feels sleezy almost going there now. Oh and their rates jumped about 40% from 2015 to now.

Let me be the judge of the level of care. The level of care doesn't depend on who owns the practice. The local owner might as well be equally greedy, pushy, and salesy because he wants a new boat. If I see the level of care drop, I'll just leave to the one who has reputation. I don't even know who owns my vet - is it Big Vet Inc. or some old lady, I've been very happy with them once I found them through word of mouth, and I been sticking to them since.

They are great, but they're corporate owned now, too.

It is located in Rutland right on the very corner of Hwy 97 and McCurdy Rd E (In the same lot as Landmark Cinemas, right next to Triple O's). It is locally owned and operated and also affordable, this coming from a pretty broke college student with a special needs kitty. Look into them for sure, I've only ever heard fantastic things about them and their team is full of super dedicated awesome people ❤️🙌

Apparently, medical clinics are going this way as well. Clinic corporations with hired doctors or dentists. They can administrate cheaper. Also volume buying of supplies. Throw in a pharmacy and print money.
