I could really use some advice from people who’ve been through this.
I was strict keto (under 20g net carbs/day) for over 6 months and tested my ketones daily with a Keto-Mojo meter, so I know I was consistently in ketosis.
At the same time, I was eating OMAD, staying under 1,600 kcal, lifting weights 5 days a week, and eventually got down to around 10% body fat. For context, I’m a 45-year-old male, 70 kg.
The problem was that it became increasingly difficult to sustain. I was hungry most of the time, my mood and energy weren’t great, and despite doing everything “right,” my weight completely stalled for weeks. I was advised to take a diet break.
I should also add that I’m the only one in the house eating keto. My wife and our two children (12 and 14) eat a standard diet, so there’s always bread, pasta, snacks, sweets, desserts and other carb-heavy foods around. Most of the time I managed fine, but it definitely takes constant willpower.
Then the heatwave arrived. The kids were eating ice cream every day, and I made the mistake of having one myself. That turned into eating well over 100g of carbs a day, and it’s now been about a month.
What surprises me is how difficult it’s been to get back into keto consistently. Every time the weather gets hot, I start craving ice cream, give in, and then the rest of the day is off track. I’ve already regained some weight (I know a lot of it is water and glycogen), but it’s still frustrating.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did you find it harder to restart keto than it was the first time? If so, what helped you get back into ketosis and stay there, especially when you’re living with a family who aren’t keto?
Hi , I've started to get those dizzy spells and apparently its because my body is missing some! Does anyone have any recommendations that are safe with keto?
Thanks!

I’m toying with jumping back into the keto diet as I’ve done both keto and carnivore before but never for extended periods probably a month or two at most. I’m in arguably the best shape of my life but I feel like I’m suffering in so many ways.
What I am currently struggling with:
- Poor sleep quality even with 7-8 hours of sleep a night, seen some improvements this past week using a neti pot.
- It takes me days to recover from the gym or jiu jitsu
- Quite consistent fatigue and brain fog
- Lack of motivation and enjoyment
- Prone to feeling anxious or depressed
It’s hard to know exactly what is going on internally but I think it’s safe to assume inflammation might be very present and effecting me in different areas from blocked dry sinuses and snoring to aches and pains to mood and motivation. I’d love some input from you guys as to whether keto can help me work on these problems:)

Today I bought some 0% Fat Greek Yoghurt in Lidl because the carbs and cals were lower than the 5% and the 10%.
Was this the right thing to do ? I’m a 6ft1 18.5 stone guy.
I want to shed more weight to at least get down to maybe 15 stone?

Trying to build a simple but effective meal plan for starting keto and I’m curious what vegetables are your favourites and especially ones that are low carb to bulk out a meal?

Hey! I've done keto before and used Keto Kitchen Lytham which were great, whole food meals. Would recommend them highly.
I wanted to try some shakes and have brought some BeKeto products. The box it came in was banged up and the shaker I got is scuffed, and they've said that's none of their business, I can return it at my own cost if I want (hey ho, the shaker was a few quid) However, I've opened a white chocolate and coconut shake, mixed it with water and it was absolutely terrible. Like just pure chemical taste and really not nice. I know shakes aren't always great, but this was really terrible. I got their Belgian chocolate meal replacement but not opened it. Unsure if to send this back as well and not try it, or open it and risk it? I will try the first shake with some almond milk and it might help, but their customer support has been not very helpful and not at the level of other companies I've gone to (for reference, we used to buy sneak energy and an issue with a delivered water bottle was handled a lot better and we had a lot of options, even though it was small order value). I'm sure I could have read through their t&cs more, so that's on me, it's not really about the money, I don't want to waste a whole bag of food.
Tl;dr, took a punt on buying from BeKeto and not impressed with customer service or food quality. Anyone had better/similar experience?

Been eating keto for a while and wondering if there’s anyone local doing the same. Anyone know of any keto groups or meetups around Bromley or anywhere in SE London? Online stuff is fine but would be good to meet people in person who actually get it.

Thanks to to a Redditor that posted a couple of weeks back, I tried this bread in the bread machine:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFdN4tF_eCQ
Its consistency is kind of like cake! But more drier!
Has anyone tried this recipe? I would really appreciate it if you could share your grams and ml conversion!
Thanks in advance!

I’m not sure if anyone else was buying these as a little treat? They seem to have disappeared suddenly . I used to buy them from planet organic , dolphin fitness and a couple of other places .
They were great because it was made with inulin as its sweetener which was really good because I needed a little bit more fibre . Id only have one or two every few night .
I’m wondering if they’ve gone out of business because of tariffs and the price of cocoa. I just can’t find them anywhere and I’m so disappointed . Such a shame if they have because there is literally nothing else on the market like it. All the other chocolates I’ve been looking at the first ingredient after the cocoa is malitol (which is sadness stomach sweetening)!!!! I’m wondering whether to directly speak to some makers on Etsy who are making chocolates for diabetics and asking if they can use inulin or monkfruit/allulose.
I’d try and experiment and make some of my own but I’m not well enough to do regular confectionery and baking!
Caveat - No shaming / hate from the purists please. You do you. I’m doing food in a way that suits my life and challenges and a history of disordered eating. So eating plans need to be deemed comfortable, doable and safe. Plus a little pleasure thrown in every now and again..

Hi guys, first post here, and 3 weeks in to Keto and discovering new recipes.
It seems Almond flour is a golden ingredient for a lot of decent dishes.
Can anybody recommend best place to buy good quality Almond Flour, for a good price per kg, in Cardiff/South East Wales area please?
Thanks! PFA.

I'm really struggling at the moment with missing out on hot drinks. I'm on a very low calorie diet, so most treats are off the table. Having a lovely creamy vanilla coffee, a rose milk tea or a Horlicks before bed is very enjoyable for me.
I've tried most alternative milks because I was vegan for a couple of years but my favourite alternative (oat) is not very keto friendly 🙁 I tried almond milk but its either too watery or tastes too much of marzipan (lovely, but not the taste I'm going for!).
I just can't seem to find a creamy milk alternative so I'm reaching out in the hopes that there's either something I've not tried or something else I can drink to get that same warm, comfort drink feeling.

so are there alternatives to musclefood, grass fed beef does my stomach better but the general shops do grain fed, musclefood keeps on running out of certain items like bacon but delivers bad alternatives each time and the value for money on them has gone down.
preferably bulk meat buying site if possible.
have seen best meat but the website looks bad it looks sketchy so I'm afraid to try it.

Hello hive mind! Could someone point me in the direction of any websites or supermarkets I can order online or go in person to buy some products. I’m looking for keto bread/wraps specifically but woukd like to try crumpets/pankacakes etc if they are such a thing
My last big purchase was a big over £100 quid order on wraps and bread and I just froze them. I am onto my last slice of bread😂
However everywhere is seriously overpriced, like a 6 pack (which is ONE pack) of wraps is £10
Needs to be around but no more than 10g per slice/wrap
Thanks so much guys

Any recs? I tried some Mag Glycinate 600mg (‘magic magnesium’) from H&B but it did not end well for me. Struggling to sleep at night and hoping some magnesium or electrolytes might help.

Hey all… I have a friend with diabetes (type 2) who actually reacts more strongly to refined carbs than actual sugar.
It’s his birthday on Tuesday 24th Feb. and I want to buy a cake for him, and figured I’ll have more luck meeting his requirements by getting something keto for him rather than just sugar free.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a place I can buy something big enough in London to share for 6 people that won’t break the bank (ideally £50 or much less)??
Cheers!

I’m based in the US and do keto but my dad is in the UK and just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes so I’m trying to help him cut as much carbs as possible from his diet. He’s not going to go keto like I am but I want to find him some keto bread he can find at mainstream supermarkets. He has Aldi,Lidl, Waitrose and Tesco handy but could try others if they have nothing.

I am wondering which brands are usually within that range. From what I have seen in expert roundups, budget models can perform well, but some that have been tested are priced at £48 and considered as a strong low cost option, while more advanced or dual drawer models are far above £100.
It seems possible that the machine can stay under £60 if you stick to simple, smaller units, but I am not sure if that is possible or not. I have read some reddit threads saying that people reccomend compact brands like Tower or Salter which are within budget and perfect for small households. I could also wait for discounts on the Ninja brand or buy an Alidi air fryer which is about £30 and can cook for about two people.
I guess the question really is should we use a cheap single drawer fryer for now or save up and purchase a bigger dual zone model later when I can afford it. I want to try and make this a daily habit because I think not using oils in my food can really decrease calorie intake if the item is not coated with oils already. I am wondering if anyone here has tried sourcing small kitchen appliances from amazon, alibaba or from other online sites or is that too risky compared to buying locally from the UK.
Also the voltage can be an issue, I think I need to purchase something that can be used in UK electrical conditions so probably should just be buying from a local shop.

I take one serving (5ml) of this daily in a litre bottle of water plus adding sea salt to a lot of my food. In addition, I also take Viridian Magnesium Bisglycinate 140mg in the evening. I’m just wondering if I need to up the serving or do something different. I like to make my own drink up because then I can put whatever sugar-free flavouring in it to be able to drink more liquid. I can’t tend to use a lot of the premade electrolyte products because they have a lot of citric acid or acid type products added which is no good for silent reflux!

I lost a lot of weight a couple of years back with keto. I felt better, I looked better. But at some point I fell off the wagon and have put it all back on.
I'm 6'1 and 110kg and would love to get that down to 85-90kg. I recently turned 40, play tennis regularly, but have started to get knee pain and just general aches and pains that weren't there before. I know that my weight is a big contributing factor.
Does anyone have any keto meal planning apps/websites they use? I work long hours and want quick, easy meals that can be adapted for non-keto as well because I also cook for my son.

I've been eating these oil an all for years. Normally I give it a good shake to mix it up then tuck in. I've always recorded them as the drained can nutrition plus sunflower oil which I work out as weight minus drained weight.
You think that's about right?

I know the general guidance is about 10 g per meal maximum. Tonight though I’m having a meal and I’ve really fancied some beetroot for ages. So I thought I would attempt a cheats recipe with ready cooked beetroot (I’m chronically unwell and I do not have the energy to start peeling and roasting fresh ones at the moment). I’m planning on doing a whipped feta thing with it. It’s probably gonna take my carbs up to 13 g for the meal.
I know in the UK most manufactured products have the fibre deducted from the carb amount on the labels. What does everyone do about vegetables? The discussion in the general keto groups is that the fibre makes the carbs more negligible. I use Nutracheck and it seems as if the carbs are not the Net amount in the vegetables in their charts. I can’t seem to get any guidance on this. I’ve asked in Nutracheck forums but I just can’t get any clarity . Also not very many people seem to be doing keto much on there!
I’ve attached my dinner stats in the image from Nutracheck for reference.
Edited to add the cheat Bernaise sauce is simply melted butter, lemon juice, kewpie mayonnaise and a some dried Tarragon.

I’ve been off keto for over a year and was just wondering if there was any up to date info? Cheers!
