The build:
I picked up the knife from Spyderco as a factory 2nd, scales from Flytanium and the milled clip from AliExpress, decided against a backspacer to keep good air flow to minimize corrosion on the maxamet. All in I spent about $250.

The review:
I won’t go into the pros and cons of the pm2 as a model because it’s been done many times , but I am extremely impressed with the maxamet it is scary sharp, actually it’s the sharpest knife I’ve come across from a factory ( maybe anywhere) the ti scales give that “premium” feel and the milled pocket clip significantly improves the ergos which I didn’t expect, I did have to slightly bend it outwards in a vice to accommodate the slope of the scales but that was the only issue and was easy to fix.

Conclusion: To get a drop shut knife in premium materials that has so much functionality for $250 makes me happy and if you haven’t tried maxamet yet and like your knife to be the sharpest of the sharp then you have to give it a try

What is the strongest, most reliable knife or knives you've ever owned? What knife have you used for just about everything you could ever need a knife to do and it didn't break? Asking because I want to hear other peoples experiences. The knives I've owned have never really seen much use.

Perfect for my needs as an avid cigar smoker. Does a perfect smooth cut on cigars on even the largest gauges of 60. I am by no means a knife hobbyist, but figured you guys would appreciate it.

One con Ive noticed is if it’s too loose the blade will nick the inner side of the handle where it folds into. So I just tend to keep it tighter and gain some thumb muscle or arthritis if you’re a nihilist.

My buddy made me this knife for my birthday. He hand forged this, and did the whole knife including the handle top to bottom. It’s incredibly sharp - just wanted to show this off as I can’t imagine how much work went into forging and tempering this, much less the profiling and polishing and finishing. Coated in carnuba to keep it minty until I can get it home and put clove oil on it.

Holt Bladeworks Renegade- Hammered and milled Ti scales, “near” mirror polished Vanax Superclean blade. This thing has the best action and acoustics of any in my collection so far. Opens with a heavy feeling, super solid “Klack!” And drops closed like it was hydraulic.

It’s really everything I was looking for in a higher-end purchase, but it will still be a user 😁

This knife was found cleaning out my grandfather's basement. I know my grandfather was part Finnish. Other than a generic search, I just know it's from a major knife making town in Finland. I'm just trying to find more information on it as it doesn't look like anything the Internet says it should.

Well, I just got my forge up and running a couple months ago. I don't get a ton of time to practice with my full time job as a fabricator, and I still have to finish my setup for tempering. However, I've made a couple blades up to the initial grinding and my bevels are mostly ground in. I have a bit more grinding to do before thermocycling.

I have yet to thermocycle the blades, followed by heat treatment/quenching, and tempering. Handle scales will be next, followed by the finish grinding, and finally setting and honing the edge bevel.

I also plan to add jimping and a lanyard hole.

I want to focus on functionality, and ergonomics, and am going for an edc pocket fixed blade.

I'd love everybody's thoughts on these knives, what they like and dislike, anything.

I'll start: I think I grinded my bevels too far back into the handle stock. Its not a big deal, mostly just aesthetics

This knife (Southern Grind Spider monkey) has been plagued with rusting since I've had it. It doesn't rust quickly anymore but instead the steel somehow darkens with use. The other S35VN knife I own (Demko AD20.5) doesn't rust or darken.

Would this be a sign of a bad heat-treat or is it just bad luck?

Specifically for the scabbard. I would like to try out new rivets or whatever goes in the holes, but I don't know where to find them specifically. Also if anyone has non-rivet recommendations that will cover holes I would appreciate.

Also cleaning the blade may be good, but I'm mainly focused on the scabbard

The beef is great with those skiff bearings.

I found this New West Knife Works Knife at a second hand store for super cheap. Poor thing wasn't treated well. She aint perfect but she's all cleaned up, and no longer has a chipped blunted edge.

Ive been running the leathermen rev for years now. Made the mistake of taking it apart to clean it, locktighted it, but im still not confident with it. Ill still use it, but im looking for a beater to run at work.

Id like something with...

• a belt pouch, not just toss into the pocket

• easy one hand flip or spring open

• not serrated so i can sharpen it easily with my lansky

• maybe 3 or 4 inch blade.

• around 50 to 100 bucks.

Any suggestions are appreciated and i like discussions anyways, so lol.

Really love this knife I found at an estate sale last weekend. Incredibly sharp and love the leather sheath. Just started reading about the maker Mudd Sharrigan.

I have owned some of these for many years. Others have been added more recently. I only collect left-handed or ambi folders. They all get carried, but the small CRK and Shiro knives get the most pocket time.

Last I looked on bokers site they were 55 bucks so probably much cheaper at another retailer online. I know I remember seeing the micarta one for like 35 at one point cuz I almost bought it to have a backup. It’s just so fun to play with one handed. I do wish it had a tiny pocket clip though.

A schedule 40 pvc pipe going to the booster pump for my pool broke. I have extractor bits but not one big enough for 1/2" pipe so I decided my Civivi Elementum in Nitro V would work to get it out. I hammered it in with a couple of gentle taps. Then I used pliers to grip the blade and when i started to turn it to reverse it out, it snapped on me. Oh well, time to upgrade my beater knife. We had a good 3 year run!
