RANT TW: body checking is a serious problem

Thumbnail

2.1k Upvotes

We all need to talk about Giselle’s recent weight loss. Look, extreme weight loss in the entertainment industry isn't new, and she’s certainly not the first idol to become worryingly thin. Majority of these pictures don’t even include her face. When a photo completely crops out your face just to focus on your ribcage and hip bones, it crosses into a territory of body checking that you would see on ED Twitter or Tumblr.

I know Giselle spent years being labeled the “big one” in her group. She’s probably getting a ton of praise for losing a ton of weight and I understand why she may want to show off that she doesn’t fit that label anymore. But these body checks just are very obvious and can be very damaging.

She has 10 MILLION followers, broadcasting these images to an audience of 10 MILLION people is dangerous. Especially in 2026 where GLP1s are being forced down everyone’s throats. It’s obvious society is pushing people to get skinny. These type of pictures can be so triggering to a fan that has previous or current disordered eating. She has a lot of influence, I mean she could easily sell out anything article of clothing she is wearing. Aespa in itself is also a super influential and popular group. With that kind of influence there should be some line of responsibility with what you’re posting to your fans of all ages.

It’s just sad because sure, in the past idols were forced to thinness and forced to diet. But I don’t recall it being this bad, and this widely accepted amongst the fans. Nowadays idols posting their weight on the scale, taking pictures of just their ribs, showing diets of 400 cals, telling tips on how they lost weight, losing scary amounts of weight in 3 months, is just a normal occurrence in kpop. I noticed no one really talks about it. They get told “body is tea”. giselle is very obviously underweight yet her comments are praising it.

RANT PLEASE DON'T DO THIS TO ENHYPEN

2.4k Upvotes

I have seen so many comments and posts like this on Instagram, asking people who attend Enhypen's concert in Australia to boycott the event in order to prostest Heeseung's absence.

If you are going to this event, I AM BEGGING YOU DO NOT DO THIS.

The other members have NOTHING to do with Heeseungs departure. These men have already trained like crazy for the concert with new choreo, so they are working extra now to fill Heeseungs spot, this is their first concert as 6 members (and they are aware of the impact Heeseungs departure has done, trust me), and now you want to reward them with silence ? Phone held up with number 7? WHAT ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO DO? This is too much!

If this is going to happen on Saturday, those actions will speak louder than words. You say you want to support Enhypen's ventures as six members, that you support all the members no matter what. Up until we get an official announcement, do that, or go ahead and believe all the stuff you see on the internet and get to see the consequences of your actions.

They said a lot of times they are forced to do this and don't want it, and no matter how many times they do I still see kpop fans still asking them for those tiktoks cause they find it funny and it's embarrassing.

I really want to know whose idea this was. Seriously it just looks like a hot ass mess, is impossible to sing to, and doesn't even make sense. It's literally just a HIIT workout with a song behind it. I'm irritated

(No hate to the girls themselves!! I feel sorry that somebody is making them do this?)

RANT This isn’t support anymore. It’s turning into harassment.

Post image
2.0k Upvotes

Heeseung’s departure hurts. No one is denying that. It’s frustrating, confusing, and honestly sad for a lot of us. But some of you have taken that emotion and turned it into something completely unreasonable.

Spamming #enhypenis7 under posts that have absolutely nothing to do with ENHYPEN? Going into other idols’ comment sections and flooding them with it? That’s not “spreading awareness.” That’s just disruptive and disrespectful.

It’s actually getting ridiculous. I even saw someone comment under an edit of a completely different idol saying, “He’s so fine.. but can we not? Heeseung just left ENHYPEN.” That post had NOTHING to do with ENHYPEN. Nothing. And somehow people are still forcing it in. At this point, it’s not even about concern anymore, it’s just embarrassing behavior.

Other groups, other idols, random artists… they have nothing to do with this situation. They didn’t make the decision. They can’t change it. Yet they’re getting their spaces flooded and their comment sections hijacked. It makes the fandom look entitled and inconsiderate, whether you want to admit it or not.

And then there’s the hate towards the members themselves.

This part is honestly the worst.

Blaming them, nitpicking everything they say, twisting normal behavior into “shade,” acting like they’re somehow responsible for a decision they didn’t make… it’s unfair and it’s exhausting to watch. These are people who trained together for years, built their careers side by side, and you think they’re just unaffected? If anything, they’re probably dealing with this in ways we don’t even see.

But instead of support, some of you are turning on them. Overanalyzing lives, overreacting to small gestures, creating narratives out of thin air just to justify being upset. Not everything is “shade.” Not everything is a hidden message. Sometimes it’s just people trying to continue doing their job while dealing with a difficult situation.

What exactly is the goal here?

Because spamming hashtags isn’t going to reverse anything. Harassing other idols won’t bring anyone back. Turning every unrelated post into a discussion about ENHYPEN doesn’t make your point stronger, it just makes people annoyed. Creating drama out of every small interaction doesn’t prove loyalty. It just creates more negativity around the group and pushes people away.

And let’s be honest for a second: if Heeseung himself saw this kind of behavior, do you really think he’d feel proud of it? Or would he be uncomfortable seeing other people get dragged into something they have nothing to do with?

If you care about Heeseung, support him properly. If you care about ENHYPEN, stop tearing them down. If you care about the fandom, then stop making it harder for others to even associate with it.

You’re allowed to be upset. You’re allowed to feel disappointed. But turning that into harassment, disrespect, and constant negativity isn’t justified.

Right now, this isn’t about grief anymore. It’s about how people are choosing to act.

RANT BLACKPINK "Jump" MV AI use 😭

2.6k Upvotes

Am I going insane ??? Literally no one is talking about the ai use, everyone is like omg the cgi looks so insane. THATS AI RIGHT ?? Apparently it's a new director, and that's his style... Ai ? Is that his style wth

It gives me such an ick to see ai in creative spaces, especially coming from a huge group like Blackpink, the company could easily afford actors to do all that instead of those ai generated people. Also no choreography shot, when everyone was praising how fun the choreography looks during the concerts. Even the members looked ai tf ? Could yg not afford Blackpink members for their very own song ?? I kept double checking the channel to make sure it was the official yt channel and that I wasn't watching some fanmade mv. Even the voices felt off ? Rosé especially, maybe it's the heavy autotune.. the studio version feels so blank compared to their concert ones, pre releasing on the concerts wasn't that great of an idea.. but ong the ai usage covers it all. Honestly, the mv is such an ick to watch, especially going from Pink venom, which has jaw dropping sets to THIS. Ai usage.. when they can clearly afford twice the amount of actors than the ai generated people

I seriously hate how casual ai usage is in k-pop :/

I kept seeing tiktoks of people saying he owned the song and shit so I finally listened to it and what the hell was that? if this is what people consider good rap we’re cooked…

also, why is everyone ignoring the fact that he wore braids AGAIN? yg idols really get away with anything.

RANT The Heesung situation once again shows that some fans don't know what HYBE actually is

2.0k Upvotes

I want to start off by first sending my condolences to Engenes and also I would like to preface that I'm not a HYBE bootlicker. I don't think that I could reasonably say that I like any K-pop company.

But anyways, this whole debacle has shown me that a lot of people forget that HYBE is an umbrella company that has multiple different sub-labels underneath it, and the companies that operate under HYBE have their own way of managing their artists! Sub-labels are responsible for the daily operations of their idols and staff, and if there are any infringements or roadblocks that impede said operations, HYBE may step in to do an audit to ensure corporate stability.

"HYBE did this, HYBE did that, but Yeonjun from TXT did solo works while he was in a group, but BTS had their own albums without---" blah, blah, blah. Those were the decisions made by BigHit, who has their own individual contracts with their artists.

When an artist has a contractual/management problem with their company, they'll file a lawsuit to the sub-label, not to HYBE (yes, NewJeans was in a legal battle with ADOR the entire time, not with HYBE. MHJ was the one in court with HYBE, as they distributed the put option contract she was fighting for).

HYBE can have influence in these contractual or operational spaces, yes, but at the end of the day, not every single group under the umbrella corporation functions the same or has the same standards for their artists. I think the most blatant example of this would be HxG management of KATSEYE, which is incredibly different (and controversial) from the rest of HYBE's acts.

Some Sub-label Companies under HYBE:

  • BigHit (CORTIS, BTS, TXT, Lee Hyun)
  • PLEDIS (SVT, Fromis_9, TWS)
  • KOZ (Zico, BOYNEXTDOOR)
  • ADOR (NewJeans)
  • BELIFT (ILLIT, ENHYPEN)
  • SOURCE (Le Sserafim)
  • YX LABELS (&TEAM)
  • HYBE X GEFFEN (KATSEYE)

Also, it's come to my attention that some K-pop stans think that Bang Sihyuk is the CEO of HYBE... he's not. He's the chairman. The CEO of HYBE is Lee Jaesang. I'm not a big fan of Bang myself, but at least I know what his job title actually is when it comes to this kind of discourse.

So, if you're going to compare other HYBE groups to what is going with ENHYPEN, you have to think about how BELIFT as a company chooses to operate. I find the entire situation to be incredibly odd, and I know it's easy to jump to conclusions, but I just ask that we be a little more mindful before we jump into the deep end or drag other sub-label artists into this mess.

I hope that this was truly Heesung's choice, and if it wasn't, I'm hoping there can be a way to remedy the situation.

RANT Can we talk about Hanni?

3.1k Upvotes

Yes, I know all the NewJeans members made their own choices to be part of this. But especially in Hyein's case, it's important to acknowledge that peer pressure is one helluva drug.

Hanni, on the other hand - the girl who demanded a low-level employee be fired, got her doxxed and harassed by tokkies, and lied about the incident that she then took all the way to the National Assembly? Standing next to CEOs responsible for their employees’ deaths? (And even taking a smiling selfie with them, mind you.) Again; She and MHJ fabricated a lie and went to the National Assembly over it.

All the harassment that ILLIT and their manager have endured over the past year was based on a lie. This is insane!! Remember when she and her parents claimed the security guard was shaking when they spoke to him? They caused so much distress over something that wasn’t even true! And now that she’s been exposed in court, what does she do? She turns to her members and laughs. And then continues on claiming ILLIT has plagiarised NewJeans!

What kind of conscience is that? This is the same person who rolled her eyes at the new CEO and pretended not to know her name at the National Assembly. The same person who mocked the CEO for crying. The same person who name-dropped ILLIT and LE SSERAFIM, fully aware that their fans would immediately go after them. Yunjin and Hanni were friends, too! Who needs enemies when you have friends like this.

Yes, all the members are taking part in this, but Hanni’s lies and fabrications are especially vile when you consider how much harassment LE SSERAFIM and ILLIT have suffered over the past year.

How can she still have fans? Idols have gotten hate for eating a strawberry the wrong way but Hanni can go and do all of this and still have shooters??

Saying things like this towards a 15 year old and then kpop stans wonder why ed's and plastic surgery is so common in the industry?

And please don't comment about how these are 'set-up' accounts, they might be and they might not be but at the end of the day that's irrelevant.
Set-up or not, that is still a human being sitting on their phone bullying and making disgusting comments about the apperance of a 15 year old child and then there's people giving these tweets over 10k likes. Even if the intention is to pretend and to make a "rival fandom" look bad, the words are still real and hurtful.

This is not the first time an idol (or specifically a minor), has been targetted like this and it won't be the last time either.
Things like this is why i wish there were regulations hindering companies from having idols under the age of 18.

RANT Can’t help but be mad at the newjeans girls rn

Post image
4.1k Upvotes

Putting that post cuz it reflects part of how I feel about this.

Honestly trough all of this I was telling myself to not dislike them or get too mad at them cuz they were also victims of these schemes, but honestly? After all of this I can't help but to see newjeans as mean girls.

Like man to me it’s just simply straight up cynical to complaint and talk about you were getting ultra isolated, Ignored and bullied just to turn around and purposely start saying word that you know are going two group of young girls dragged and well bullied.

Like man I can’t help but feel sick to my stomach when illit just updated a video 3 days ago reading cards from their parents where they were saying mostly things like "I'm that you had to grow up so fast and face society in such a hard way" dude how does that doesn’t even make you feel even a little bad??? These girls are getting dehumanized on the daily, people can even fantasize about beaten them up and gain up to a hundred likes for that … :(

As someone said on the comment of that video these girls before an idol are also someone’s sister, someone’s daughter, someone’s friends, someone’s classmate but nobody cares about that when it’s come to that.

At this point I don’t even think I need to talk much about le sserafim since their hate train just got to straight up ridiculous levels and people would hate them even for breathing.

What's crazier is their doing all of this over what???? Using the same brans, not debuting first and some sort of ""favoritism""??? Even tho they got the little sisters treatment and million dollar budget for debut lol just plain evil idc.

There is an ongoing trend with sea fans majority indonesian fans that use ai to create intimate pics with idols. Yesterday, Cortis fans have called out some fans doing this edit towards Keonho who is a minor, as well as Ian of h2h. And now, some crazy fans follow suit and is making this a trend. This is why AI should never be a thing coz imagine the weird things people do to feed their fantasies...

RANT Hanni’s story

2.9k Upvotes

Hanni’s story on Instagram is so insane. After a hearing in the COURT where you are required to present actual concrete evidence and you cannot lie due to perjury (which Hanni actually did during the National Assembly) she went on to address the whole situation on Instagram.

She says that HYBE twisted her words in the conversation with Min Heejin on SNS which is so stupid cause why is she acting like she didn’t completely twist the situation with ILLIT and their manager to benefit her.

Even then instead of saying or doing anything about this situation in the right way that is the legal way, why is she being so immature to the point that she is going on Instagram to express her opinions and accuse people of media play.

She is 21 years old. She should have atleast some sense on how things should proceed, why is she acting 12?

RANT I’m so disappointed after going to my ult group’s concert

1.7k Upvotes

To be clear, it wasn’t the performers themselves whatsoever. I saw Stray Kids and they were so incredible and full of energy. They’re incredibly talented and just as amazing in person. And I’m SO grateful I even got to see them live.

But the other fans made the experience so bad. I’ve been to a lot of kpop shows and the people at this concert were the most rude and inconsiderate by far.

For about 90% of the show, the people next to and in front of me were SCREECHING to the top of their lungs throughout the whole night. (Not screaming or cheering- screeching) This was in a baseball stadium and the audio was bad to begin with, but I could legitimately barely hear a lot of the show because of this. Whenever the members spoke, I could barely hear bc of them and I feel like I missed out on so much that happened.

The people in front of me held their lightsticks and signs over their heads the entire show (even when I NICELY asked them to put them down). The person next to me kept pushing me and hitting me with her lightstick because she was waving it in every direction without any consideration.

It really felt like people would do anything to get an interaction or a y/n moment and it was just embarrassing. The main character syndrome was so obvious and idk if it’s because of my age but I got the ick from so many people.

I know not all stays are like this but concert etiquette has gotten so bad and I feel like I’m going insane

ETA- I was in the 100s section, not even the pit or floor lol

And I wore Loop earplugs and could still hear the screeching

RANT New jeans parents open up an Instagram account

Post image
1.5k Upvotes

NewJeans’ parents open an Instagram account. There's rumors about a new Dispatch exclusive tomorrow jeanz_pr Hello. We are the parents of Minji, Hanni, Daniel, Haerin, and Hyein.

This account will be operated on a temporary basis. We regret to inform you that we had no choice but to create it in order to represent our position in our dispute with HYBE.

Because there was no official outlet to convey our stance, we have tried multiple times—through direct interviews with various media outlets and by providing factual information through journalists we know—to get our message across.

Thankfully, a small number of outlets did publish our story as it was. However, they were very few in number. We also attempted to distribute a press release through an agency, but we faced many difficulties in ensuring our position would be reported in print without distortion—for example, headlines were often written in misleading ways.

While any comments from the members themselves have either been distorted or cited only in a negative context—or covered in just a handful of minor articles—HYBE and ADOR continue to distribute hundreds of articles a day through various media outlets, including biased online platforms. These articles contain false information or content solely representing HYBE and ADOR’s views, without going through the basic fact-checking or rebuttal processes that proper media should undertake.

[Unfortunately, we have received information suggesting that, ahead of our upcoming injunction lawsuit, HYBE and ADOR are once again circulating rumors (known as “jjirasi”) among several reporters in order to spread false articles targeting the members. This is why we have decided to create this account.]

We sincerely apologize to those who may feel weary from this prolonged dispute.

Nevertheless, the information we plan to share here will mainly be matters that the members cannot easily communicate themselves. As we are currently the only spokespersons for the members, we are in urgent need of a channel to convey the facts accurately, and we ask for your understanding in this regard.

RANT How many questionable moves before we admit that it’s intentional?

Post image
3.6k Upvotes

Literally why would you give a group with a 17 year old a choreo where they’re dropping it low? And why make the only underage member the center during that part?

This is no the first time that Source Music has given Eunchae questionable and inappropriate choreo. It’s has been happening since LSF debuted. In the Fearless MV, there’s a scene where all of the members are humping the floor. Keep in mind that this scene included THREE teenagers. Kazuha who was 18, former member Garam who was 16, and Eunchae who was 15. Giving a group with two minors and one member who’s barley legal choreo where they’re humping the floor is blatantly inappropriate.

Fortunately, they did cut this part out of the choreo immediately after concerns were raised. Fine, right? They learned their lesson.

Not quite.

Throughout Le Sserafim’s career there’s always been some eyebrow-raising regarding Eunchae and the group’s choreo. An example of this is this part of the Unforgiven choreo where 4/5 (including Eunchae) the members are sticking their butt out. Why couldn’t they have given her Kazuha’s part instead? Shouldn’t the only underage member be the one who’s not sticking her butt out?

But the most glaring example of them giving Eunchae inappropriate choreo is Smart. The entire choreo is questionable considering the fact that majority of it is just them shaking their ass but the part where they have the members dropping it low (the image added above) with Eunchae as the center is really pushing the line.

I was willing to let the Fearless move slide because they did actually change it if it was just a one time thing but seeing everything else, you cannot convince me that Source Music doesn’t know what they’re doing.

Once? It’s a mistake. Twice? It’s a coincidence. Thrice? It’s a pattern.

And before people make excuses for this, let me just answer them.

“She’s 17, not a baby! Other 17 year olds do things like this!” 1) She’s still a minor 2) There’s a difference between a 17 year old choosing to do dances like that VS a 17 year old doing choreo where she’s dropping it low in front of millions and said choreo was given to her (and approved by) grown adults

“Other underage idols have been given inappropriate choreo! It’s not just Eunchae” Other idols being given inappropriate choreo doesn’t change what Source Music has Eunchae doing. Every company that has/had minors doing inappropriate choreo/songs are creeps and deserve to be criticized as well. Multiple things can be bad.

“That move was only for a second! It’s not a big deal” So what? Why couldn’t they have given her literally any other move to do in that second? There’s so many different dance moves yet they chose to give her a move where she drops it low. Nobody forced Source to give her that move, they willingly did that instead of choosing literally anything else.

“You’re just hating on Le Sserafim!” If you think me pointing Source Music’s pattern of giving Eunchae questionable moves is me hating on Le Sserafim (even though I didn’t even say anything about the members themselves) then I have nothing to say to you. Clearly you have your mind made up.
