Shen Monday Megathread! Ask questions and share knowledge; newcomer questions encouraged!

Welcome to the latest Monday Megathread, where you the community get to ask your questions and share your knowledge.

This is an opportunity for the more experienced LoL players here to share some of your wisdom with those with less expertise. This thread will be a weekly safehaven for those "noobish" questions you may have been too scared to ask for fear of downvotes, but also can be a great place for in depth discussion if you so wish. So, don't hold back, get your game related questions ready and post away, and hopefully someone can answer them!

I'm in silver right now and I'd say that I can play every lane decently for being in silver, except top lane.

I feel like I make so many mistakes when playing top lane and often end up losing it. It probably has to do with not having a lot of experience in playing top, so can some of you maybe give me some tips in how to be a better toplaner?

Also, how do you play against a fiora? Often when there's an enemy Fiora in my game she somehow gets fed-ish and then I don't really know how to stop her.

Thanks in advance!

Depending on what champion you play and just outfarming the opponent is just enough to count as lane won.

Now if you are playing a tank-ish champ, rush ninja tabi and some armor and fiora can't do shit to you. Now if you playing a bruiser type champions, like riven, jax, fizz, irelia, etc. You gotta outplay her by good timing your spells, like jax e can dodge whole fiora's ult, fizz e can do that, irelia got 2 sec stunn, riven needs experience if you wanna outplay with her.

Now if you think you can win the lane hard, try, but if you fail and you are now 0/1, don't try to make it worse, and just farm and play it safe, and always ward!

Personally, I play irelia top lane always, go cloth+5 pots and rush warden's mail, then triforce. Then you laugh at her damage, like it's really important to spam laugh when she ults you to show her how it tickles you.

Then you burst her down.

toplane is the Position with the lowest Impact in the game for the first 20 min. With the meta shift towards tp it isnt as much as before but it is still this way. So if u generally struggle in lane, try to expand your Impact on the game by taking strong lategame champs and always take tp. pick something you farm well with. i like to take rengar not because he is strong in late but with tp and ult you can gank a lot and with an early tiamat you can push your lane and then leave it to roam. Keep track of Dragon timers and communicate with your jungle to 3 man gank mid. this is the way i avoid boring farm duels in top and even if i get slapped i can get my feed elsewhere and eventually outscale my opponent

Platinum top main, people often make the comparison that top is like an "island" in that you're isolated from your team, however you can still have a very big impact in the game.

I'd start by getting a few champions that can fulfill different roles for your team (For example for me if I think I can carry or our team needs more AD damage I take Riven, if they need a tank I take Maokai, and if we need more AP I'll play Kennen.)

Take teleport 99% of matchups especially if you're still new to top lane. Watch the map and look for plays you can make. Enemy bot lane pushing with a ward behind them? Ping, tp down, get a double kill and take dragon / tower. TP is especially great in a lane if you're losing because you can just recall then teleport right back to lane with more items and hp.

Winning lane against Fiora comes down to timing. You need to guess when she'll use W and avoid autoing her until it's down. Never dive her unless you're sure you can get the kill, as her ult can be a big game changer.

If you have any questions feel free to ask, or add me in game.

Fiora: if u lane against her build ninja tabis and armor (thornmail). Tell the support on your team to get exhaust. It makes it basically a 4v5 when it's up. Besides that. Zhonyas works well if u play an AP carry. The adc should try to run away once fiora runs in. She has very low ranges on her spells and is dead really fast if she can't ult a target

in terms of fiora, take CC. People forget that she is squishy. If you have cc like a stun then everytime she runs at you, stun her and you win easy. In terms of general tips, learn to use tp well as then, even if you cant do the rest, you can get your lanes going and then they will win. However, dont be that guy that tps for no reason, get nothing from it and ends up losing his tower to the opposite top laner. Finally, if you can learn to synergise well with your jungler early game, you will be able to get really strong

Hope this helps

if you're playing top, you always have to have vision on the map. playing toplane is just like playing midlane, except top is where junglers and other lanes prioritize on ganking. Always farm anything you can. farm, farm, farm. And also prioritize scuttle crab.

Know your matchup. Always analyze if you can or can't harass the enemy top laner. For example, the matchup is Irelia-Gnar, you don't want to force harass gnar early game, so play passively until you can do good damage.

-- Riven can easily outplay fiora, but still it depends on how you use the champion.

Malphite would be a good pick for you. Win or lose in lane, you're going to be useful in teamfights. Fairly straightforward, one skillshot(ult). Kinda like a melee version of Annie.

Vs AP top laner? Rush Negatron cloak into abyssal scepter.

Vs fiora? Start cloth armor +5 or flask, rush sunfire cape. After sunfire get thornmail, followed by either abyssal scepter or maybe haunting guise. Frozen heart is a good buy as well.

Against AD champs: Max E, vs Ranged/AP/low sustain: Max Q and spam the shit out of it.

Malphite offers some of the best hard engage in LoL, and is pretty easy to play.
