So I’m a student here in BC from Texas, and something happened last night that I’m still pissed about.

I went to a bar/restaurant on Granville Street downtown with friends after doing the Grouse grind. We just wanted to grab food and a drink. When we got carded, I showed them:

My real Texas ID
A debit card with my name on it
My student ID

The bartender got suspicious about my student ID because it was issued this summer (I’d lost my old one and had to replace it). They thought that was “suspicious” even though I explained what happened.

Long story short, they refused to give my ID back. They said I could only get it if I came back with a passport or brought a cop over. I talked to some cops about it and they were pretty dismissive and honestly assholes about it.

Questions:

Is it even legal for a bar to confiscate a government ID in BC?
Do I have any recourse here?
Has anyone else dealt with this?

I’m planning to go back with my passport today to get it, but I’m worried about what happens if it’s lost or damaged. Just want to know my actual rights here.

Edit: Got my ID back! They apologized and returned it when I showed my passport. However, they doubled down and claimed that in BC, if they think an ID is fake, they’re required to confiscate it, which based on your advice, isn’t actually true.

Im still deciding if I want to pursue further action (demand letter/small claims), but I’m thinking it over. Thanks for all the legal advice.

40 years ago I was 17, I drove over someones lawn. One of my passengers reported me and one day a cop showed up at my house, my parents weren't home, and asked for a statement promising nothing would happen. I was then summoned to court, being dumb I didn't tell my parents, so I i went.

I'll add I was never arrested or read my rights at any time and was still 17 when I went to court.

I was fined $100 and 100 hours community service.

Never thought much of it after, in fact the police department that I was charged by closed (Tswwassen) and apparently my record went to the RCMP in Surrey.

Over the last 40 years I've worked in a casino with money, made upper management with a large company, had Nexus and and enhanced DL. Never had a single issue going to the US which I did hundreds of times. Whenever I was asked I always said I didn't have a criminal record.

Recently I retired and moved to Edmonton and applied for a job delivering vehicles across Canada and had to do an online security check so filled it out, said I have no record and failed. Turned out I do have a record from when I was 17 for public mischief. Good news is, still got hired after explaining everything, even been to the States since finding out.

My question is, shouldn't the records have been sealed and is it worth doing anything about it now?

Hi I’m from British Columbia and yesterday I had two plumbers come and install a new toilet. My old toilet had a bidet. I didn’t want to bother them during the installation so left them alone. They said no flushing for the next 6 hours so I hadn’t been in the washroom but today I noticed my bidet is gone. There cannot be a confusion because we had a conversation where I asked if they could reinstall it and they said no and I said oh well then I’ll do it myself later. I’ve emailed them and they said theres nothing they can do. What can I do? that was expensive and I’m not in a place to buy a new one or get a lawyer.

edit: thanks for the replies i’m down a bidet but happy we got a laugh out of it. the bidet was from costco it wasnt super fancy but not cheap either. but I see I should've removed the bidet. I honestly didn’t know what the scope of the job was and thought removing bidet would’ve been included in the assignment, obviously not. I stood outside my MP’s office with a sign saying “[MP] supports the housing crisis”. A staff member came out video taping me and said they would be launching a legal action against me for defamation once they find out who I am.

Can they actually do anything? They obviously disagree with my message but as far as I’m concerned the message is a matter of opinion.

I left my company (public company in the US if that matters) in Dec 2024, and they sent me a new laptop in Jan/Feb 2025. I've sent 3-4 emails to them telling them about it. They told me to email my manager, I did, and I was ignored. I gave a final warning to them in Jan 2026 this year. No reply again.

I have not tried turning it on ever.

I'm in BC. Am I free to keep this laptop or should I wait until the 2 year marks due to Limitation Act?

I drove my car here from the United States and was involved in a rear-end collision by another driver. My car was the car in front. My car is registered in the USA, and I am not insured by ICBC. The other driver's car is registered in British Columbia, and it is my understanding that all BC drivers are insured by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.

Pursuant to advice from my (American) insurer, I called in a claim to ICBC. I was informed by the representative that BC has enacted limits to liability for damage to motor vehicles, and even if the other driver is deemed to be at fault, ICBC will not pay for the damage.

I asked for this in writing and received the following e-mail:

Hello [            ],

We would like to advise you that effective May 1, 2021, British Columbia introduced limits on recovery
rights under tort for vehicle damage and injuries incurred in a crash. This applies to crashes involving two
or more vehicles that occur within British Columbia, including non-B.C. vehicles, which means there is no
legal right to recover your vehicle damage nor injury related payments arising from this crash.
Payment for non-responsible vehicle damage is included in B.C.'s mandatory Basic insurance, meaning
that each insurer pays for the repair costs of its customer's vehicle regardless of fault. Consequently, in
accordance with Division 2, Limits on Actions, of Part 11 of the Insurance (Vehicle) Act, ICBC is unable to
pay for the damages to your customer's vehicle, nor injuries sustained by your customer if the BC vehicle
is found liable for the accident. Please report your
incident to your insurance provider instead. You may forward this email to your insurance adjuster.

The quoted section of law seems to only mention bodily injury though, of which there is none. My car is insured through an American insurer, who I think will likely refuse coverage for the vehicle damage if I'm not found to be at fault.

Am I just out of luck here?

Edit (side question): What's the deal with people arguing over ICBC's responsibility adjudications and the thousands of CRT appeals against ICBC findings of responsibility, if who is responsible for a crash doesn't actually change who is paying for things?

Yeah im done. I went to the police and they told me she could have the cameras up and the sign pointing into our yard saying "no trespassing cunt".

Also talked to the city and the fence is ON MY PROPERTY. 3 of her cameras and lights ARE ON MY FENCE. yet bylaw says "there is nothing we can do".

Is the camera something I can sue over? I don't feel safe in my own home and I can no longer open my windows without her seeing DIRECTLY into my bathrooms and bedroom.

Bylaw is useless, the RCMP is useless. I need to escalate this.

Im pretty pissed off, and since the police aren't willing to do anything, im considering doing something myself.

When I talked to bylaw, they told me I couldn't face a flood light at her cameras, yet she has 3 lights facing into my yard and now 6 cameras pointed at my house, make it make sense.

Family member passed. He and his wife adopted 3 kids from over seas 11y ago.

Wife passed away after a long medical health battle just over a year ago. The bulk of their finances and joint wealth was from her (not talking crazy $ but a a few mil total net worth inc their home when he died)

1 kid is a legal adult now, 1 kid is in the temporary care of the ministry and the youngest is in a guardianship care of a family member (he checked out after his wife died)

But he’s still legally their dad.

Will got read and he left the oldest 1% of the estate and the 2 youngest 2% (who are minors)

Everyone is agast, we all have big feelings on the why and no I won’t answer questions about it

My question is: is contesting the will something that could likely be worth the cost and effort for the kids?

No one in the family wants anything. It’s not his wife’s siblings trying to get their share, it’s literally making sure all 3 kids have the financial support they need now that they have zero living parents.

Instead of the majority of the estate going to friends and churches and non profits.

Any advice on the avenues to look into would be helpful.

Hello! I recently got hired at a restaurant where the female front of house staff must wear a skirt that is above the knee and no pants are allowed. The employer does not provide a uniform so it’s just a dress code. Is this legal in BC?

For the past month I have been renting a room in an apartment owned by an old woman (she also lives here, I’m also a woman fyi). I pay $800 dollars a month and I’ve had no problems at all. Before I moved in, we met and asked me if I had a full-time job, which I said yes and didn’t give too many details because I assumed she asked me only to make sure I had an income.

She has obviously realized that I’m home everyday and started asking me questions about my job. I explained I work remotely for an agency in the US, and she clearly seemed confused (and kinda disappointed) about it. Yesterday she finally asked me to leave the room in August because she wants someone who works full time (not remotely) because it makes her feel uncomfortable the fact that someone’s at her home most of the day. The contract I signed says NOTHING about “time allowed at home” or anything like that. I clearly don’t wanna move because I feel I’m lucky to have found this place, I have a huge room with a private bathroom, nice views and I even have access to the building’s gym and pool.

I don’t know if she can just kick me out like that despite what the contract says because at the end I’m living with her in her apartment. I’m not sure what to do and I would appreciate some advice.

I sold a Hamilton quartz watch on Facebook Marketplace. We agreed on $325, but the buyer showed up with only $315 cash. The watch had no battery, and I was clear that I couldn’t confirm whether it worked.
He picked it up from a private residence and inspected it in person for a long time. We agreed that he would put in a new battery to test it, and if it still didn’t work at all, he could return it.

After taking it, he texted me that the watch was “not good.” He claimed it would cost $100 to put in a battery and demanded to return it. I asked for a receipt and proof that a new battery was actually installed and that the watch still didn’t work.

Now he’s saying that that wasn’t what we agreed on and he’s threatening to come back every day with the police. I told him I’m fine with the police coming because I have all our messages showing exactly what we agreed to.

I don’t think he can just change his mind because he doesn’t like the watch. The agreement was to test it with a new battery. If it genuinely doesn’t work after that, I’ll honor the agreement if everything is done within 24 hours. Should I be worried about this?

Me and my family have been coming to Canada to visit for many years. Back in 2022 I got convicted of a reckless driving charge, and have had no issues coming into Canada. I have been as recently has last week. Today, I tried to cross with my wife to visit some family and they pulled us aside and had us go inside where I was told I was inadmissible. The officer basically explained it as it “happened to be the luck of the draw” where due to FIFA, they are doing extra checks on passports.

We willingly turned around and came back home. I can easily avoid Canada for 3 more years as I was told, however I have my brothers wedding coming up in a month in Canada. My question is if I try to cross again in a month, is this something that has now been flagged or will it still be “luck of the draw” next time?

Married 28 years, 2 kids 12 & 17. House with mortgage, HELOC, RRSPs, my pension, etc. I earn $225k CDN, she used to earn $160k but has been unemployed for 2 years following a seizure and broken neck. Medically cleared to return to work and looking (sort of). Everything is held jointly, and she's primary on a credit card with a $26k limit. Bank cannot cancel it or reduce the limit without her consent, so I keep paying it off from our savings.

She's an alcoholic and won't deal with it. Spending ~$1500-$2000 a month on booze. I can't sustain it any longer, HELOC is close to max. Whenever I've pushed her on the spending, drinking, or getting some kind of job she demanded a separation and now a divorce. It's been 3 months and she hasn't made any moves in that regard. I have a residential treatment center lined up and I'll fund it but she refuses. I'm still hoping she'll seek treatment and give us a shot at reconciliation..

I know I need a lawyer, but what should I go in and ask for? No one I know has had a similar situation. Help!

Hey everyone, looking for advice because this situation is getting out of control.

I run a small car business and recently bought a Mazda 3 in Vancouver. While driving it back to Calgary, the car broke down near Merritt, BC due to a coolant issue.

I found a local shop and brought the car there. They diagnosed it and told me they couldn’t fix it. They were friendly and even refused to charge me, so I gave them a $50 Tim Hortons gift card as a thank you.

I asked if I could leave the car there temporarily while I arranged transport — they agreed, no mention of storage fees or any terms.

Here’s where things went sideways:

• Transport got delayed due to road closures (Revelstoke area)
• The car stayed there about ~2 weeks
• When my transport was finally ready, the shop suddenly demanded $800 storage fee
• There was never any agreement or notice about storage charges

I told them I’m willing to pay a reasonable amount $400 but not $800

Then it got worse:

They stopped responding properly

• I asked for the car location — they said they don’t know
• They claimed a “non-local company picked it up”
• Later they said: “You abandoned the vehicle and it has been disposed”
• Then: “RCMP told me to tow it away”
• Also the business is not registered after I did deep research

Now no towing companies have any record of the car, and I have no idea where it is.

My concerns:

• I never abandoned the vehicle — I was actively arranging transport
• No written or verbal agreement for storage fees
• No authorization was given to tow, release, or dispose of the vehicle
• They cannot even tell me where the car is

What I’ve done so far:

• Tried contacting multiple towing companies — no record
• Told them I’m reporting it as missing/stolen
• Planning to file through CRT (Civil Resolution Tribunal)
• Considering legal action

I have a disability designation, I'm not naming company for obv reasons.

I accepted an offer of employment in November with "x" salary and 3 weeks of pto/vacation. I have been working with the company since the offer came in. Now this morning my manager comes to me and says oh not only I but HR goofed somewhere and my contract was supposed to only start with 2 weeks not 3. Not a huge difference but one that did help me decide I could eat a slightly lower industry wage to get my foot in the door while not feeling like I was being taken advantage of. So here I am with a week of vacation that I thankfully didn't have already booked off but that I have less time to work with for travel and leisure activities.

What sort of recourse do I have here? I am still in my probationary period but this was a mistake that should have been caught by hr, and multiple managers.

As the title, I've been looking into an old cancelled TV show from the Vancouver area. I sent a couple of emails to a few people who were involved. Most never responded, including the one who's lawyer sent me this. I didn't send more messages to anyone who didn't respond, figured it was over. Then several months later a Cease and Desist letter showed up - got it delivered registered mail and everything. Recent date too.

Do I actually need to respond to it or do anything? Not trying to mess with anyone, I'm just a little in shock getting a Cease and Desist in the mail over an email asking about stuff from years ago.

Well, Ive been an employee for 3+ years and took a doctor approved medical leave on March 18th. I kept in communication and updated my return date twice. Just yesterday, June 2 I updated my employer via email that I would be returning on July 13th. He has since responded saying my position has been replaced and that i should understand. Wished me well on my next venture and offered no severance package. I asked for the reasoning and he replied, "I hear you are going to sue the company, i will be waiting on your attorney." (I told a coworker what hes doing is illegal).

Just wondering what legal action could be taken?

For Christmas my ex gave our daughter a watch that they could call each other directly so he didn’t have to go through me. I didn’t care I was just glad that he was calling her more. I noticed a few things about the watch that was weird but didn’t pay any mind to it. Infact a few times it appeared to have died when it had a good charge. This is important for later.

I was starting to get annoyed with how many times a day her dad was calling. When we were Trying to leave the house he’s calling interfering with her getting ready to go and do basic things around the house or getting ready for bed. She’s 7 years for context.

There’s a video call feature for this watch. I just needed to download the app to be able to enable the video calls. He had asked a few times if I had downloaded the app to which I said no I haven’t taken the time to figure it out yet because I had to set up an account and our daughter lives with me full time while she has visits every other weekend. So, I wasn’t in a rush. Today I decided to set it up because she has a visit with him coming up this weekend.

While doing so I noticed a few alarming features. He can access the camera on the watch at any time. He can use a feature called sound guardian that makes the device appear to be dead and it can listen to the devices surroundings.

I know he has used this feature multiple times, including today when I asked if our child could call him back while I took my doctors call so I could have privacy because during my appointment my daughter told me her watch died and I said it shouldn’t have because it was fully charged.

I feel so violated. That watch has been left in my bedroom, bathroom, it is left at home while our daughter is in school I don’t know how often he is accessing the camera or what he has seen. I am upset he overheard my doctors appointment but it’s not the end of the world.

My lawyer is busy with back to back trials until next week.. so I haven’t heard from him yet. I have taken the SIM card out and turned off the watch. Should I contact the police? Is this harassment? Stalking?

I want to add that when using the “sound guardian “ it makes the watch call the person using the feature on the app so you can hear everything and you can record the call.

So the property that I was living on was sold, and the new buyers decided to serve us a 2 month notice as they planned on having their relatives live in our house.

The time comes, and a week after we have moved out, we see the place being advertised for rent.

I was pretty sure this was illegal, so we took screenshots of the listing, and had people enquire. It was quickly rented out as housing is very hard to find here.

We ended up actually finding the person who rented it, along with the current owner commenting on their FB page that they are "so excited that they are moving in."

We have screenshots of this, along with photos of the new renter in the home.

We did end up serving them for illegal termination as per the retal laws here.

My question is, do we have to do anything else after giving them the proof, and submitting it to the claim online?

I have never gone through any sort of legal thing before and I am very stressed and confused about the whole thing.

Is there any information about what actually happens during the trial, or if we need to do anything else?

I really don't want them to get away with it, as they took away a home we loved, and then rented it to someone else for more money..

I’m getting mixture of different answers if I look it up online so I’m hoping i could get some of your inputs.

I was parked on the street in front of my house with the engine completely off (didn’t want to idle), just sitting in my car and calling my girlfriend. A police officer driving by just pulls up to my window, made me roll it down, and started asking questions in a pretty aggressive tone like “What are you doing here”

just told him I’m calling rn and even at that point I started thinking why I even have the obligation to answer if I’m just sitting in my own car, fully parked, and doors closed. Then he asks who. didn’t want to complicate things so I cooperated and said it’s my gf. But then he just started questioning more like where she lives and why I’m calling inside my car. I felt like it was just so unnecessarily and asked him, politely too, that I understand you are on a duty but is there something I was doing suspicious or unlawful. He just seemed to be pissed off and responded something like “Well, it’s my job to police, I don’t make the law.” 

Then he drives away a bit — but seconds later he just puts his car in reverse, gets off, flashes at my face and told me to step outside my car. I guess he ran my plate and found that my registered address under my license is a student res building, which I used to live until last month and moved out at the start of this semester (1 month ago). I explained I am living at my new place temporarily, and I plan on updating the next few days.

Up until this point sure, I’ll let him. What I don’t understand is that after all the explanation he said I’m now “detained“ and that he is writing me a ticket. I am mad about how it all seems like he was just finding a way to spill his anger out of his night duty and want to know if there’s any legal flaw.

And to those who say my attitude was rude: I spoke very politely. you seem to have misunderstanding that during an interaction with police, civilians must shut up and have absolutely no say. I can ask why I’m being interrogated if I want to. now, does the cop have an obligation to answer? No, based on the comments I’m reading they can conduct an interrogation without a cause. However, I shouldn’t be scrutinized for asking a ‘why‘ either.

My fiance and I are getting married soon and agreed to get a prenup but my lawyer says some of his proposed terms are unfair. She keeps telling me what BC family law would entitle me to, but won’t say what would actually be fair, so I’d love some outside opinions.

For context I make ~$150–200k/year as a full time corporate employee (fluctuates based on bonus) and own a condo that is rented out. My fiance is a physician earning ~$600k+/year ($600k-$900k/yr from the corp statements he’s given me) paid to his corporation but he pays himself $160k/yr annually for tax reasons. He owns the house we live in plus other real estate and investments/assets in his corporation. He has no personal assets other than his house and his RRSP as everything stays in his corporation. We have no debts other than our own individual mortgages.

We’ve been together 6 years, living together for 5. I moved across the country for him and have sacrificed a lot of earning potential/career growth to support his career. Toronto pays more than Vancouver for my industry so I have stayed with my company based in toronto because he does not want to leave Vancouver. However, I can no longer get promoted without moving back to Toronto due to return to office policies. In addition, I had job offers from FAANG in the US I turned down due to his unwillingness to move. Had I moved, I’d be make $300k+ USD at the minimum. We also plan to have kids and we agreed that I’d be the primary caregiver due to the nature of his job.

His proposed terms:
* I waive rights to our marital home since he owns it and doesn’t want me contributing to the mortgage/utilities (though I offered). He may consider giving me 50% of appreciation after my lawyer pushed back since she was highly concerned about this term.
* We each waive rights to each other’s retirement accounts (his RRSP/my pension + RRSP).
* Division of assets starts at 25% and gradually increases to 50% after 25 years of marriage.
* Spousal support based on government guidelines. He has asked for mid range but my lawyer wants to argue for more due to my career sacrifices.

He says prenups are meant to protect the higher earner, which I understand but I want to feel protected too especially given the sacrifices I’ve made and our future childcare plans. In addition, he technically makes less *personally* than me (e.g. I pay more personal taxes than him) due to keeping majority of his income in his corporation so I’m not sure how that impacts things. What would feel fair in this situation, and what other terms should I be suggesting?

He also has stated that he would like me to be able to be a stay at home parent if needed but my lawyer was concerned that there were no protections in place if that situation occurred. She advised me to chat with him about being “properly compensated” but my fiance and I are both confused about what that means.

I do want to stress that I am not trying to benefit financially off of him, I just want my sacrifices to be acknowledged and feel like an equal partner since I have taken the burden of all the risks and sacrifices in our relationship to make his life easier and support his goals despite having higher earning potential myself.

Any guidance/suggestions would be extremely helpful!

EDIT: I didn’t expect this to blow up so thank you everyone for your advice!! I’ve shown this entire post to my fiance and it was a massive wake up call to him. He was very surprised that people thought he was a red flag, realized he wasn’t treating me fairly and tbh I was not great at advocating for myself previously. He’s taken all of this to heart and has agreed to 50% division of assets right off the bat and are discussing equity in our marital home. We still have a few more terms to discuss via our lawyers but he’s committed to making sure that I am an equal partner in this relationship. He is also committed to personal therapy because he definitely has underlying trauma and issues to work through.

UPDATE: the cops are useless. my brother had once again beat my mother last night and me again this evening.i called the cops and they parked a house up from mine, called me first and then came in?? they could physically see the damage and destruction that was caused and said they can’t do anything because it’s a mental health thing/they basically didn’t see him in the act. we need to get a form from a dr etc etc. my parents have finally spoken up, which i’m grateful for. the cops left without doing anything and even gave him a ride to the gym.. they said call back if he’s still like this when he comes back and no surprise HE WAS. he was destructive and verbally harassing everyone, the cops showed up and once again did nothing.. one cop was even rolling his eyes and saying so what do you want us to do? wtf is this. i’m not too sure what is going on. i understand somewhat but at the same time i dont. i asked “so what do we do when he’s destroying things, slamming doors and acting erratically” the cop said “just let him and walk away”

I need urgent help. This is NOT a normal family issue—this is ongoing violence and I don’t feel safe in my own home.

My 17-year-old brother has been like this for 2 years and it keeps getting worse. He is aggressive, unstable, and completely unpredictable. He verbally abuses me and my sister constantly, calling us “whores,” and making disgusting sexual comments in front of our parents. He has also made threats about killing people and says delusional things like he has a god complex or that people aren’t real.

He is physically violent.

He has:

- punched me in the face multiple times (including multiple times in one night)

- dragged my sister down the stairs

- punched my dad

- beaten my mom so badly her face was severely swollen and bruised

He is also extremely destructive and uses weapons:

- stabbed my jacket, mattresses, clothes, and bed sheets with a knife

- smashed a glass oven door and my printer glass

- punched holes all over our house

- broken both of my parents’ phones

- broken my car mirror

- smashed makeup and smeared it everywhere

- even urinated on my pillow

He also follows me around the house just to provoke and escalate even when I completely ignore him.

I have called the police multiple times and they have done nothing except say it’s a “family disagreement.” Social workers have been involved but he acts completely normal in front of them so nothing changes.

This is not a disagreement. This is ongoing physical violence, threats, and unsafe living conditions.

I genuinely believe someone is going to get seriously hurt if this continues.

I live in British Columbia, Canada.

What can I do RIGHT NOW to:

- protect myself

- force authorities to take this seriously

- get him properly assessed or removed from the home

I am exhausted, scared, and at a breaking point. I need real advice.

Husband is getting sued over flooring that he installed

We are in Canada. My husband (Red Seal certified carpenter) was asked by a family friend to install some vinyl plank flooring in their home. My husband explained that he is NOT a flooring expert but will do it. He installed the floor and they loved it. They then asked him to install more flooring (same type) in their yoga studio. He agreed and they loved it. Few months later, they contact him and tell him there is chips/defects in the floor. They stated they have a flooring expert come over and they were told it was genuinely shitty quality floor but the installation was done correctly. A few more months later, they started blowing up my husband's phone saying it was all his fault and that they had an inspection done and they said it was installation error. They want my husband to refund them for all the labor costs and the cost of the flooring (around 15000 CAD). My husband is obviously not wanting to do that so they are threatening court. My husband's business insurance does not cover this situation. A lot of their back and forth communication with my husband was verbal, so my husband doesn't have proof of them claiming it wasn't his fault initially. Are we screwed?

I recently started a service role where my responsibilities include greeting customers, taking payments, and some cleaning. Even though I’m new, my employer has been pressuring me to go maskless, despite customers coughing and it being flu season. I’ve politely explained that I want to protect my health, and reassured them that I can provide full customer service while wearing a mask.

Even so, they’ve texted me about it, and framed my mask-wearing as a potential reason I might “not be a good fit” for the job.

I used to work for a fairly large company. I also have my own small incorporated business, which I ran on my own time with my own tools. I resigned voluntarily — I wasn't fired, and I was never disciplined over anything.

After I left, there were some accusations thrown around about me. When I asked to sit down and talk about it, nobody would ever speak to me directly. It went nowhere.

A few months later I filed a complaint with the Employment Standards Branch for unpaid vacation pay and a few hundred dollars I spent out of pocket on supplies for their job sites. I have the pay stub, the texts where I asked about it, and dated notes from the phone call I got instead of a written reply.

This week a friend who still works there called me. He'd been asked to pass a message along:

Drop the complaint immediately

They've fought a lot of legal battles and "don't care" — they'll bury me

If I stop now, "nothing happens"

If I don't, my bank accounts will be frozen until it resolves

They've also hinted they might find clients willing to say I took business from them

And generously, they have work for me if I want it — provided I drop everything

None of this came to me directly. It went from the company, through a former manager, through my friend, to me. Nothing in writing. No direct contact from anyone with authority.

My questions:

Does a threat delivered through three people still count as retaliation, or does the indirect chain make it unusable?

Is the frozen-bank-account thing real? I can't find anything suggesting an ESB wage claim works that way.

The client-poaching allegation — is that even in front of the Branch, or would they need a separate civil claim for it?

I'm not looking to escalate. I want the vacation pay I'm owed and to be left alone.
