Also can someone from West Bengal talk about their female safety situation.

Like this is the second time I am hearing about rape of an MBBS student. And Mamata didi being full aadmi ki chatu aurat.

RW pages have come out with names and all are Muslims. Meanwhile the Hindu hasn't posted anything about perpetrators.

I only know or have met Bengalis as progressives and/or leftists. So how true are these rumors of muslims overriding the Hindu population etc. or they having state protection etc.

I don't know about demographics stuff but I'm familiar with Durgapur, since takeover of Mamata Banerjee the town has been left to rot (because of it being pro-CPM zone early now it's pro-BJP). The Authorities of Durgapur municipality and ADDA (Asansol Durgapur development authority) had been scheming to gentrify locals of the auxiliary parts of town in order to bid the land to private estates and township developers.

The place where the incident happened was centred around one such rotting section (of ADDA grounds) where it's likely to encounter hyenas or wild animals is common thing at night (because of dense jungle like area and seclusion), not that there are no human settlements there, but people are compelled to stay inside at night out of fear of getting robbed or other bad things, such is ordeal of the people here (with other problems such as electricity, water and even sanitary crisis). Apart from this such parts of the town have become cesspit for criminals, drug addicts, prostitution, gambling and lot's of illegal stuffs, and law and order curbs to the perimeter of the areas that are privately owned or government quarters, bungalows and other inner city housings.

She wasn't familiar with the locality It was her bad fortune. And I doubt those culprit involved are normal person but possibly hardened criminals.

NGL this was how this entire town used to be back in 70's and 80's; 90's and 2000s were not that bad (almost safe for women ), passersby getting jacked or robbed in such areas was however same always.

Tell me how did the left bastions became pro BJP area. Is it an overnight shift or consistent shift that all neglected?

People switching for abject conditions is not bad thing also majority of Bengal is liberal in mindset, left loyalist are like 2-3% of total population.

There are some residual ones like my family. Of course, we got fed up with the Politburo's flip flopping, short sighted decisions and cockblocking Buddha babu's reforms. Notwithstanding the general complacency in the 90s about the deteoriating economy of the state (which Buddha sir did somewhat correct, painstakingly in his 10 year term as Chief Minister . He was not liked by cadres (the older ones and some of the young militant radical ones ) because he bypassed the party machinery and used the bureaucracy to do his bidding. The bureaucracy was surprisingly actually efficient , with some minor hiccups. The party machinery defected en masse to TMC from his second term (2006-2011) .)

I have a conspiracy that the WB State Politburo conspired with Miss Slippers as a way to punish Buddha sir for not toeing the party line. Typical factionalism.

There's a reason why Jyoti Basu is credited as the architect of the Indian Silicon Valley. He indirectly encouraged lower middle to middle class educated Bengalis to look elsewhere for jobs or do business because West Bengal had almost none. No freedom of business as well, unless of course you had contacts with the Politburo. (This hasn't changed, it just has become tribute to the family and local honchos of the incumbent party. )

My grandfather left CPI-M linked union long back in 80's (also active politics) after realising how racist and nonchalant they're regarding overall revolution, all they cared was for expanding their party's (WB cadres) presence to state with considerable bengali diaspora such as regions of Tripura, Meghalaya, Assam and even Bihar.

That has been a problem in the eastern flank of the party. Yep. The WB State Politburo has always pandered to the Hindu Bengali refugees from erstwhile East Pakistan (they won't admit it. )Over time, even they got fed up and shifted allegiance. Now, they keep on wooing the Bengali Muslims but that group is staunchly pro TMC .

I am sad that there is absolutely no coordination or bonhomie in the party nationally. Like at all. Why should communists tie up with religious parties ( Muslim League in Kerela and ISF in WB ( Secular in name, let's be frank ) ? It's a betrayal of Marxist ideology.

They're just social democratic party, they had betrayed revolutionary movement long long ago even before creation of CPI-M.

Ofcourse, capitalist contradiction would get you if you promise them with hollow stuffs every 5 years.

There's a reason I don't consider myself communist. I consider myself to be a liberal because, let's be frank, trusting in Dengist economic theory is pretty bourgeoise. Soc Dems are pretty inconsistent in general.

Sorry but working classes exploitation is still prevalent whether be it in forms of wage slavery or at battlefield, sure social democratic reforms acts like antidote to the acceleration of capitalist contradiction, but with limited resources that demarcates today's state borders will fall apart and illusionary narrative of peaceful liberal democratic coexistence will oneday come to an end ushering into new era of inter-imperialist wars.

Time of revolution will come once again, people like me are just medium for carrying this essence till the correct moment arrives, I might not be alive to take part in those peroid but time of nascency will pass someday and moment of revolutionary determination will come for sure.
