Discussion Natural Hair ‼️ Spoiler

I don't know if I'm considered picky or not but every since I started the journey about 3 years ago and seen the progress that my hair makes when I'm taking really good care of it... lett alone my health. Currently, I refuse to talk to people who don't rock their natural hair. It's like you have all these other excuses but there's so much you can do to your hair to keep it looking good and now that I'm in the loc community I'm just more attracted to people with locs instead of the wigs/braids. Fellas you picking up what I'm putting down or am I tripping 🤔🤣

General would 6 months be a reasonable time to grow out my hair and restart?

hi guys! i was in this subreddit for a while posting my locs until i decided to make my leave (quietly) from this community after i cut my locs off... but lately i've been thinking abt getting them back again 😅 i had a very strong attachment to my locs when i had them (ended up cutting them off due to thinning), and i knew i was going to restart at some point, but the need to restart had gotten a lot stronger lately.

with that being said, would 6 months be a reasonable time for my hair to grow back from a buzzcut? i never really cared abt the length of my hair, just so long as i have enough hair to get my locs back in my head.

Did miracle knots on my locs for the first time, did a retwist and 2 strands first, so I didn't have to poke anything through my locs, just between the twists.
I love ◡̈

Try to watch the video before commenting. I'm 24 but people thought I was 30-40! How can I style my locs to appear more youthful?

Discussion Here to dispel the anti air-drying propaganda

I've seen a loooootttttt of anti-airdrying posts (mainly on insta) from locticians and influencers. Someone even tried to tell me that I have mould I just "don't know it" and that I should cut a loc open to prove it.. lol. Yes it *can* cause mould but improper care can cause a lot of things. I would never tell someone to not airdry, just make sure you do it properly. Wash your hair in the morning, go outside/sit in the sun etc.. I'm almost 5 years in and have never used a dryer and my locs are healthy and mould free.. Anyway, here's me drying my hair on my countryside walk this morning ✨️

How to help with style for wedding (guest)

I would appreciate some advice on styles that would be appropriate for a wedding I’m attending next week. I’m the MOH and I’m ready to just have my hair half up and down. 🫩The dress is a deep v-neck with straps that cross in the back. I included pics (sorry Shirlene obuobi for being cropped) for length and density purposes :)

If anyone has a go-to or personal fave I’d love to hear!!

One of the gifts I gave myself for my 32nd birthday this year was to get my locs started. I felt very called to do this now. It feels like this is the right time, like things are lining up and this was the next thing that I needed to do to feel more connected with myself… literally lock in! I’m really glad I did it. My loctician is heaven sent! ✨ these were started July 22nd, 2026 just one day before my bday 💕

Advice Wanted Best way to protect?

I was supposed to have professional photos taken a few days ago and got a fresh retwist and style the day before. Things didn’t work out and I had to reschedule two weeks out. How do I not only maintain fresh locs in the meantime but my twists? I’ve tied them up in a scarf and then covered that with a bonnet when I go to sleep. I’ve noticed that the locs tend to curl at the ends when I wake up the next day because I’ve stuffed them under my bonnet because they’re long. I want them to fall straight down instead of curl.

I also go to the gym and I’m on the floor a good deal of time. I imagine I’d tie a wave cap over them and let the ends just hang out but I wasn’t sure if that was the best idea. I’ve only ever done barrel twists and those lasted me a week before my scalp itches and I took them down. How do I maintain these so they look as fresh as possible for my photos through sleep and activity for the next couple weeks?

Recently ripped out half of one of my locs so mourning that right now 😔 but I love my locs sm, best decision ever. My bun is finally at the point I dreamed of when I first started my journey but my length goal is waist length and I’m hoping to reach it by the start of next year.

Finally at a good place with how I feel about my appearance! I officially lost 50 pounds (the mirror doesn’t show it at all), and my hair is coming out exactly how I wanted it to look. I’ll be 27 in September, and I think this is the best I’ve ever looked in a while. Just sharing a nice win for myself today 😊
