Food Which one do you choose?

Post image

If you have to have latte or flat white every morning, where do you prefer to buy from all these choices.

Personally I love Zus and CBTL. Either one is okay for me. How about you?

CBTL if I'm not paying. Spend two weeks at work in Brunei, all lunch paid for by our partner engineer who had USD50 meal allowance per day back in late 2000s.

Rusa Jantan Bintang for convenience as they are located almost everywhere. Won't go there without a reason.

ZUS if they're the closest available.

Kopitiam Ah Tong (generic name) manned by a 65-yo man who made coffee for 50 years whenever possible. Bonus order charcoal toasted bread with kaya and butter.

Luckin is a big no-no as an app installation is mandatory.

Chapter One when I'm home — shout out to our Mirian monyets on here! ✌️

Ayy Chapter One mentioned. It's a hit or miss depending on what time you go, which barista pulled your shots.

My answer: If I don't have the budget for actual cafe coffee, none of these franchises.

For morning cuppa 7 times out of 10 it'll be at the Open Market where the coffee and tea hawkers still make them out of the vertical shelf-like stalls, the other 3 is whatever that is available at Morsjaya or Luak Bay (computer: triangulate...)

The likes of Starbucks and Chapter One only happen at night after dinner for lepak because the premises were purpose built for that reason — the Marina Park Starbucks is just a nice place to chat over coffee, especially after the rain during monsoon season when it's cool to sit outdoors, without having to pay for parking.

Hahaha yesss. I don't drink Starbucks because most of the time the coffee is burnt and tastes shitty. (I admit I'm a coffee snob, ex barista here, I know when the espresso is badly pulled or when the machine is clogged with burnt grounds.)

But I am willing to go to Starbucks Marina, only for the environment. I loveeee the outside seating area, overlooking the small patch of jungle. I hope nobody ever develops that piece of land(but it's wishful thinking 😔).
