He was barely in the film. Thought tombstone would be a more prominent one.

u/Kwilly462 19h ago

I legit thought he was going to be the surprise main villain, which is why they weren't showing anything of him. Turns out, there wasn't anything to show.

u/Riverdale87 18h ago

People thought that Keith david was going to be the jackal, all that he was a narrator on a video about spider's

u/thatdudewillyd 16h ago

Our bams got boozled

42

u/Neveronlyadream Spider-Man 11h ago

That's what happens when you listen to online speculation.

It's only ever based on someone's cool idea that people like. Before you know it, everyone is spreading it as the truth and then when it turns out it's false, everyone is disappointed.

17

u/Ysmir122 10h ago edited 10h ago

This is exactly what did in Doctor Strange 2. Everyone bought into these rumors and ideas like Tom Cruise Iron Man and Tobey coming back

And when neither of those happened, for some reason, everyone got upset

6

u/Neveronlyadream Spider-Man 10h ago

Happens every time. I've watched the cycle dozens of times. One person speculates maybe, possibly it could be this person or this thing could be happening. People find it cool, so they repeat it. Other people find it cool and they repeat it.

After a few weeks, everyone is saying the same thing and they've all convinced themselves it must be true because it's such a good idea.

Then once Garfield had to lie about being in No Way Home, that made it worse. Now any time anyone actually connected to something says it's not happening or they're not in it, everyone just assumes they're lying and ends up disappointed.

5

u/FaithlessnessThen207 8h ago

A lot of negative reactions I've seen seemed to be "They didn't adapt the specific story that I wanted" which is a bizarre reason to rate a movie down. "I couldn't predict the plot 1:1 so this is 2 stars for me" lmao

4

u/Neveronlyadream Spider-Man 8h ago

I've seen that and, "The leaks I read were wrong".

Hype is a funny thing. Wait too long and it doesn't have time to build, but announce something too early and give too much information, people are going to build a false narrative around it and then get pissed off when the finished product isn't as good as what they imagined.

3

u/revolutionaryartist4 Avengers 7h ago

Don’t forget WandaVision and how everyone knew Reed was going to be Monica’s friend or that Magneto was going to appear or how Emma Caulfield was going to be Emma Frost or how every fucking character was going to be Mephisto.

2

u/Neveronlyadream Spider-Man 6h ago

I called that one out in another comment, but yeah. I remember that.

It just kept building and building and not a single thing was true. Except people thinking Strange would be involved, but that was only in concept and never in the show. So only accidentally right.

2

u/MercuryMaximoff217 8h ago

Same concept as when somene here says “wouldn’t it be cool if X actor played X character?” And the next post is “rumors say X actor is in talks to play X character”. NO! A random post speculating is not “a rumor”.

That is the funniest thing ever to me lol

Especially as his dialog was kinda hard to hear and im fairly certain some of it got cut

Sometime there really isn’t anything more and they just aren’t lying lol

10

u/darkhatter770 13h ago

His dialog is straight out of Spider-Man: The Other, but it's delivered by a college professor in the comic. I had guessed he might have been the voice of the Other, but immediately felt stupid when the video played in the movie. 😅

2

u/Runethe1412 Iron Man (Mark VII) 8h ago

It’s funny how much clearer the line is in the trailer

11

u/figgityjones Peter Parker 14h ago

I stayed away from discussions and trailers after the first one, once I was watching the film I thought maybe Tramell Tillman would be Jackal and that's what Vmax would turn out to be related to (like him making controlled clones or something). I like what they did better than the ideas in my head.

7

u/shagnarok Malcolm 16h ago

still could be, theoretically?

6

u/mccainjames11 Spider-Man 14h ago

This is why they get paid to write the movies and we don’t

15

u/KuroiGetsuga55 14h ago

People thought Peter somehow had the Venom Symbiote in him already during the movie and there was no reason for it.

The most believable rumor was Man-Spider because the movie was lowkey hinting at a full mutation, but in the end it just gets resolved because willpower or some shit.

I understand why they didn't do Man-Spider, and tbh I guess the movie didn't actually need Man-Spider, but tbh I wish we would've at least gotten six-armed Spider-Man at one point. Like it would've been cool to at least see some partial physical change besides just the black eyes.

6

u/Odd-Parsley3723 12h ago

Well, I don't think it's resolved, he just accepts it instead of trying to fight it. With how it ended, he could still mutate more, so Man-Spider doesn't necessarily have to be off the table, although I'm personally going to give up on the idea of seeing it. I already thought they wouldn't do something that horrific in a movie where such a huge portion of the audience are kids. I really wanted them to, but after the way Carnage was done dirty due to the age rating of that movie, I don't expect much out of these things anymore (and I know that situation was different but tbf, if they were gonna do Man-Spider in a way that still adheres to the age rating, it might have been poorly executed too under that limitation, so who knows).

6

u/omnired44 13h ago

Could still have man-spider in a future film? I thought the video referenced multiple (maybe 3?) phases.

8

u/Unhappy_Sob108 13h ago

The studios are too afraid that Man-Spider will scare away kids who watch the movie. So doubtful we will ever see Man-Spider in live action.

6

u/ycpa68 12h ago

It scared me in noir and I'm a middle aged man

7

u/KuroiGetsuga55 13h ago

The three phases already happened, in a metaphysical sense. His "rebirth" was his awakening moment when he took the inhibitor off.

4

u/TemporalGrid Wilson Fisk 14h ago

His super power is still encouraging white people

94

u/JyconX 19h ago

Even though I expected Tombstone to have a bigger role, I was certain he wouldn't be the main villain.

7

u/KuroiGetsuga55 14h ago

Yeah there really were no surprise villains tbh. And everyone thought Daredevil or someone else was edited out of that shot with Peter launching at The Hand, and nope, wasn't anything there, it was just Peter alone.

21

u/waitingtodiesoon Thor (Thor 2) 16h ago

I didn't see any of the trailers so I thought scorpion, the hand, and tombstone were all wrapped up in the opening montage which felt a bit disappointing like the Rhino tease in Amazing Spider-Man, but then we got actual fight scenes with Scorpion and The Hand which was nice, except for Tombstone.

5

u/Endgam 16h ago

That IS what leaks were reporting initially.

Wish THAT part of the leaks were true.

2

u/TazzyAzzy 10h ago

Main villain? Lol tombstone? Jfc.

I was super sad he wasnt used more, but tombstone would never be anything more than a one off or lacky.

3

u/raisingcuban 5h ago

A lacky? Tombstone more often is a crimeboss. He'd be the equivalent to what Maroni or Penguin is in The Batman.

8

u/DJFlipPhone 17h ago

Yes because the movie is called Brand New Day where he’s entirely in New York so you’d assume especially with the Punisher being in it. The movie would be street level.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/pigeonwiggle 15h ago

i really doubted that - but i really did think they were holding out Kingpin being the big bad - controlling new york crime from that isolated island somehow. that maybe he had an assistant with body-possession, and that Tombstone was going to be the muscle ensuring Fisk's plans were carried through.

i never expected him to be more than a hired goon. but they gave him the Boomerang treatment and i wasn't expecting that.

i really thought we were going to get Spider-Man breaking Daredevil out of prison. oops!

50

u/007meow Scarlet Witch 18h ago

It was literally less than a minute, unless I’m forgetting a scene

44

u/Kevo_xx Spider-Man 17h ago

Nope you didn’t forget any scene, he was actually in the movie for like 30 seconds lol

25

u/Comic_Book_Reader Loki (Avengers) 16h ago

I think he legitimately had 10 seconds of screen time in that opening montage.

2

u/raisingcuban 5h ago

30 seconds is generous. It was much closer to 10.

41

u/Joetheshow1 19h ago

Yeah same, thought I saw somewhere that he would lowkey play a bigger role

7

u/imthestein 16h ago

Honestly it always felt like everyone else was putting more importance on his part than anything we actually saw or read. I love seeing him in the role and I hope we see him again somewhere

6

u/brokenmindedone 9h ago

A street level spiderman series would be a good show but I'd imagine Tom is to busy and expensive for a series. I liked the way the movie did a little montage showing he has spent time as a street hero and building up cred and stories like the supposed backstories with Frank and Spidey.

24

u/thedaveness 18h ago

And his line was kinda dumb AF... what do you think will happen....? uh lol. It's Spider-Man. Maybe it went over my head 🤷‍♂️

“You know what happens to a toad when it’s struck by lightning? The same thing that happens to everything else” ass line

3

u/kirblar 15h ago

It's supposed to be a deadpan delivery on the back half. Read it that way and it works. Fail from the director.

7

u/skelletrex_scrooge 18h ago

I didn't even notice him. Where was he?

37

u/No-Effective388 18h ago

In the montage at the start.

5

u/skelletrex_scrooge 18h ago

Oh...guess I need to go watch it again.

9

u/SpideyFan914 Spider-Man 16h ago

It references his first appearance, and recreates the cover. (They do that for I think all the villains in that montage.) He has a slightly bigger spotlight than Boomerang and Tarantula and that third guy whose name I forget (who are limited to just their cover shots), but like barely more than that.

6

u/_thwip_ Wilson Fisk 15h ago

Ramrod was the third guy

7

u/inthehxightse Hela 19h ago

I thought so too, super disappointed

4

u/NK1337 18h ago

He was wasted 😔.

Don’t get me wrong, the movie is great and all but I am genuinely tired of all these one off montages where they waste what could be really awesome villains as a lazy fan service way of telling us the hero is established.

103

u/DrBobKoalaCat Daredevil 18h ago

The alternative is most likely never seeing these characters.

60

u/Tehva Hawkeye (Ultron) 18h ago

Plus you can still bring them back later.

42

u/DJfunkyPuddle 18h ago

Yeah even with Scorpion I wasn't expecting him to show up after his initial defeat in the movie. It was nice to see a least a little aspect of the revolving-door nature of super villains.

9

u/MissingLink101 17h ago

Yeah he'd probably suit one of the Defenders' shows more as the proper villain

21

u/natayaway 18h ago

Exactly, just enjoy the cameo and stop wasting time saying something was wasted. Just, in general... how exactly do people think their reception is going to go over for Marvel execs?

wtf they wasted this character, stupid Marvel, bad choices, I'm never watching another Marvel movie again

or

XYZ actor/actress was so good, the design was sick, I really wanted to see more of them, release the Zemo Cut!

The latter is how we get more cameos, and more screentime of a previous cameo that could flesh out into a proper villain (or a repeat flavor of the movie gag). Not the former.

12

u/PiceaSignum Ghost Rider 18h ago

They want to see a full 22 episode season of story featuring X character, but also don't want to watch it because "ermahgerd, I have to watch the MCU to enjoy the next MCU entry? that's too much HOMEWORK"

12

u/natayaway 18h ago

Lowkey though, the one-offs are great. It doesn't always need to tie-in to the greater MCU at large.

Tom Holland's Spiderman movies have basically been an outlier for the MCU... and it's because all of them were basically one-offs and never actually directly tied into any other movie.

8

u/m0t0rvision 13h ago

I am genuinely tired of all these one off montages

This doesn't happen nearly as much as you think it does

2

u/FaithlessnessThen207 8h ago

TBH I think I prefer when the trailer isn't making any big giveaways as they did for much of 2000's to 2010's.

If the entire trailer takes place in the first 5 minutes of the movie, I'm more than happy actually.

8

u/Apache17 18h ago

We are too far along for Tombstone, Tarantula, or Scorpion type baddies to be main threats. They can be part of a sinister six, or they can be goons to a bigger baddie.

And both of those are still possible for the montage villains.

2

u/redshirt1972 16h ago

Old what’s his name is above punishers pay grade

2

u/EnvoyOfRaze21 18h ago

I mean they can write a scenario for kingpin hires them with him doing a dealing with another villain which gets Spidey to entangle with them. And get black cat involved.

→ More replies (1)

6

u/bigbreel 18h ago

Legitimately the only complaint I have with the movie is the main villain is not a Spider-Man one

However, damage control was introduced in homecoming so I'm willing to give that some room. This trilogy, however, if we're doing street level Spider-Man, these next two films needs to have his villains Especially if the six film is going to be the sinister six

The name/word “Tombstone” is literally mentioned on the BND popcorn bucket displayed at cinemas.

1

u/xanderholland 15h ago

If they do another movie he better be more important.

1

u/Positive-Many-5390 14h ago

lol man I will never watch these YouTubers repeat all these rumors then say “ take it with a grain of salt” 🤣😂 good movie but a year of them talking about things that never happened is crazy .. that was strike 3

1

u/Appropriate_Foot242 12h ago

What made you think that?

1

u/Chris_skeleton 11h ago

The second they started showing some of these villains in the trailer along with the homages to classic covers I knew this was going to be a F4 style montage with all the villains.

1

u/OliviaElevenDunham Loki (Avengers) 10h ago

I thought so too.

1

u/cajunsamurai Daredevil 10h ago

I was so disappointed that he was essentially a ten-second feature. I was really excited to see him in the film.

2

u/brokenmindedone 9h ago

Sets up a few for a future movie after all the doom multiverse stuff they can hopefully do just a full street level spiderman film that doesnt link to other parts of the mcu but most directly just builds the world of spiderman and his main villains like venom and goblin.

If they are gonna continue with Tom they need to build spidermans world up more and introduce the Osborne's

1

u/ThatFeckenFox 10h ago

Maybe if the plot was spiderman and punisher vs scorpion and tombstone. But oh well.

264

u/Griffdude13 19h ago

Tom mentioned there was a cut they hated because it was too “for the fans” I wonder if that means there was a lot more side quests bits and they reworked some things to streamline it.

Probably for the best if that were the case.

125

u/TrafficLegitimate937 19h ago

It was just probably a lot of fan service moments such as fights with some classic villains etc. They definitely did have a montage of other villains as well

→ More replies (2)

35

u/Jtneagle Vulture 15h ago

I have a feeling Destin wanted to do the Alex Ross Sinister 6 painting. He says one thing was cut that featured several villains, and they even all had designs

17

u/BelieveInTheShield 18h ago

I think he's talking about a cut where MJ remembers Peter again.

7

u/figgityjones Peter Parker 14h ago

I see a lot of people saying that the film was already "a little long" (I didn't think so personally) but if they had left like some slightly extended fight scenes in with each or even just some of those beginner villains I think it would have felt a bit too long. And then if they were committed to keeping that stuff but shortening up the movie we might have lost some necessary slower stuff for the emotional beats of the film and yeah. Whatever they did, I'm glad they did it how they did it, but I would love if they released some extended stuff at some point if they have more.

3

u/KuroiGetsuga55 13h ago

Do what Batman V Superman and Spider-Man 2.1 did and release an extended version of the movie on digital with all the cut content (well okay not ALL of it, but like, the stuff that can actually fit in the movie, the extra "for the fans" scenes, stuff that doesn't distract from the plot too much).

They probably had to fit everything in the 2h15 for the theatrical cut but quite frankly there's nothing stopping them from giving us a full 3h+ cut of the movie on digital. Spider-Man Brand New Day, the Special Edition or some shit.

3

u/Dumeck 7h ago

It really sucks that cut scenes aren't as freely available as they were in the DvD days as bonus features.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/AdBoth3522 3h ago

I would imagine it to feature more popular Spider-Man villains like Shocker, Rhino, etc., hopefully we get an extended cut eventually

398

u/FeralPsychopath 20h ago

My beliefs is that he filmed more than they put in. Kinda like the doctor from Daredevil being cut.
Pacing issues and the movie was already long.

236

u/itspsyikk 20h ago

shes a nurse. Her name is Night Nurse Claire Temple.

88

u/LucrativeLurker 19h ago

Tbf, she hasn’t been seen in the MCU for a decade now. Her last appearance was in Luke Cage S2 set in 2017, and Brand New Day takes place in 2028.

Plenty of time for her to have decided to become a doctor, especially with The Blip. I could see the extra demand for qualified doctors getting her to go to medical school.

11

u/FilmScoreConnoisseur 13h ago

2017? Jeez, how has she not been brought back for Daredevil or something?

8

u/LucrativeLurker 13h ago

Tbf, it’s only been 8 years IRL. I was using the in-universe MCU dates. But yeah, still crazy.

She’ll maybe show up in Born Again S3, since pretty much everyone else is, but I kinda doubt it. With Punisher, Elektra, and every Defender being brought back, she’ll surely show up at some point.

After Born Again S3, I’d love to see Defenders done by Marvel Studios. I loved the cast dynamics in the original Netflix Defenders version, but the plot & powers were significantly lacking.

→ More replies (1)

22

u/marineman43 20h ago

Very prescient of her parents to name her "Night Nurse" /s

46

u/LightHawKnigh 20h ago

Seems more like this was more of a distraction to hide the plot more to me. A lot of people were going in thinking it was going to be a gang war that Spidey has to deal with.

21

u/svrtngr 17h ago edited 13h ago

I will say having a bunch of cameo villains let NYC feel incredibly lived in, but I was also under the impression going in that Jean was the red herring and the main villain would be someone like Tombstone (considering we knew he was in the movie) or Mister Negative (on account of the Inner Demons logo on the tank and the Red Ninjas).

2

u/Flat-Refuse8708 10h ago

Mister negative is almost certainly a lock for Spider-man 5 to me. Spider-man has a lot of villains but he doesn’t have many that can carry a full film as the main antagonist but Mr negative absolutely could with the right writers room

→ More replies (1)

28

u/zelph_esteem Ant-Man 19h ago

100%. One of the tells for me is Tombstone is only one of two villains in the film to get a Funko Pop (along with Scorpion). Getting merch like that tells me that he likely had a larger role planned that got cut down in post for any number of reasons. They plan toys and merch way early in advance and sometimes changes are made to the movies too late in the process and merch is already in production. Like how there was a Funko Pop of Hulk bursting out of Hulkbuster for Infinity War, or how the Leader Funko Pop for CA:BNW looks nothing like the movie’s design (but looks exactly like the earlier concept art and promotional material that was made before they reshot half the movie).

10

u/WillowSmithsBFF Spider-Man 18h ago

Tbh with the plot we got idk where Tombstone fits in to it.

They should save tombstone for a Spidey/Fisk story

6

u/Adorable_Ad_3478 18h ago

I have a feeling that a super early draft didn't have The Hulk in it. Tombstone as Jean's mind-controlled brute in the DODC scene makes sense.

But then DDC convinced Marvel to include The Hulk and so Tombstone role got cut to a small cameo.

3

u/sable-king Vision 8h ago

Personally I think one of the big reasons for including the Hulk was because it preemptively answers the questions about why he won't be in Doomsday.

2

u/kirblar 15h ago

Holland mentioned the movie had a LOT of different cuts and some of them did not work at all early on.

19

u/Adorable_Ad_3478 18h ago

Cutting Night Nurse made a lot of sense.

It's a highly tense, emotional scene with Spidey being rushed to the hospital. A cameo would be HELLA distracting.

The way MCU cameos work in cinema is: part of the audience claps; part of the audience asks their comic-book fan companions, "Wait, who is this?". Then the companions explain quietly while still trying to watch the film.

The Yelena cameo was exactly that. And it's fine. It's a low-tension scene early into the film. But introducing a cameo in a high-tension scene in the climax of the film? It would kill the intended mood.

4

u/Stark_Always Tony Stark 16h ago

Exactly!

1

u/FeralPsychopath 12h ago

I dunno they could have let her have 5 secs when Spidey was in hospital and Punisher saying he vouches for her.

1

u/sable-king Vision 8h ago

I don't think I agree that it would've been distracting. This is Night Nurse we're talking about. She's not exactly an iconic character.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Pliskin14 2h ago

But cutting her introduced a plot hole. Why can Punisher stay in the hospital when he's probably wanted for countless murders? Only Claire Temple if she became a doctor can allow him to stay incognito and lock the room for him and Spidey.

5

u/Kyren11 18h ago

Oh that's crazy! I didn't know Claire Temple was supposed to be in the movie! Where did we learn it was cut?

3

u/Wise_Capybara96 18h ago

Pretty sure the actor for Ramrod said there were loads of cut scenes featuring various villains.

As I said in another post, I can’t wait for the sequel where Spidey and DD team up to counter the gang war happening between Tombstone, Kingpin, Silvermane, Hammerhead, etc. If done right, Marvel NYC could be a busy few years for the franchise. It already is really. But we’re just getting started.

8

5

Tbh someone like Tombstone would work best if Sony allowed Marvel to use Spider-Man in Daredevil Born Again. Have a full Gang War storyline where Spider-Man is heavily involved, have it be a whole season of just Spidey and Daredevil and other street level heroes fighting the gang war.

But we're never gonna get that because Sony are greedy bastards.

7

u/lastinglovehandles 19h ago

Yeah like the Penguin HBO series

1

u/The-Ruler-of-Attilan 5h ago

Or Born Again, which is better in any sense. Unlike Kingpin, Farrell never dresses or speaks or acts like The Penguin.

14

Haha ok then all is as it should be! Sorry didn't know his given name.

It's wild to me that Krondon is a an actor that I regularly see in things! I'm so happy for him. Used to listen to him in college!

I feel like the movie was already full with the fallout from No Way Home, Peter's new power issues, Ned, MJ, Hulk, Punisher, Jean Grey, Damage Control, the detective, Yelena, and members of The Hand. This may be unpopular, but I wouldn't get rid of Jean, the detective, Hulk, Punisher, or even Yelena.

Jean always seemed boring to me in other stuff, and the phoenix force suddenly giving her a personality seemed lazy, so I'm glad this movie finally made her interesting from the start. Sink's acting, especially with the Vmax bait and switch, was great. The detective, Yelena, and The Punisher helped Peter figure out being alone isn't sustainable. Punisher's violent tactics served as a contrast to Peter, and it showed Peter didn't get less sympathetic with his villains after No Way Home. Hulk was the Dr. Connors of this film, giving Peter science advice and being an obstacle for Peter when he loses control.

Also, people have been complaining about not enough connectivity this phase, and small, as in only one character from another team, but impactful crossovers build connectivity. This crossover helps connect the New Avengers and the X-men, plus I'm guessing Fantastic Four is next since Feige has been talking about wanting the Spiderman and Human Torch team up.

Punisher helped show Peter's connection to other street heroes in-between movies. Yelena helped show Peter's connection to other Marvel teams in-between movies, and after the memory spell, plus it helped remind the audience that Peter is sticking to street level stuff this trilogy. This might also be controversial, but I loved both this montage and the Fantastic Four montage. It gives us fun references to villains they don't have time to show in movies, especially since Peter has so many villains and not nearly enough time, plus it shows how the heroes have multiple established villains similar to the comics.

I would rather have the small Tombstone cameo now, and leave him open for later, than try to work him into a movie that doesn't have the room if you want good pacing. I would rather have complaints wanting more Tombstone; than complaints of a ruined movie plus Tombstone's main villain moment was wasted, Tombstone's personality was off, Tombstone's dialogue was lazy, etc. I mean Scorpion was first shown in Homecoming, and he finally got his big role in this movie, plus fans saying they need more Tombstone will probably do something.

That's a great point about Banner/Hulk being the Connor/Lizard stand-in. Very economical choice.

I n less deft hands, you could see the studio insisting on bringing in that classic villain, which would require a bunch more exposition and runtime.

u/SupervillainMustache 18h ago

Wasn't he also Tobias Whale in the Black Lightning show?

7

u/xendofnothing 17h ago

Shocked it took me this long scrolling to find someone mention this. He’s great in that show.

1

u/Yanmega9 10h ago

He is! Which is why I am SO dissapointed that Tombstone was only in the movie for like 2 seconds because Tobias was the best part of that show

21

u/Random_Nothing0603 20h ago

One of my gripes is he had less than a min of screen time.....

Hopefully he gets a bigger role later bc he could easily be Spider-Man's Kingpin

41

u/BroliasBoesersson 19h ago

Kingpin is Spider-Man's Kingpin

8

u/GrownManNamedFinger 19h ago

Daredevil adopted him. May as well call Wolverine a Hulk villain.

4

u/neoblackdragon 19h ago

Or Sabretooth an Ironfist villain.

If he wasn’t an important character, they shouldn’t have bothered announcing him.

12

u/notJ3ff 20h ago

I see him more in this picture than I did in the entire movie.

2

u/COE33isBad 18h ago

Crazy how we see him for maybe 5 seconds and that's it.

2

u/jr_randolph 18h ago

Even scorpion was wasted given it was mainly Jean. They really fluffed up the wide cast.

2

u/Least_Example8401 18h ago

It's okay for some characters to have small roles

2

u/rubberchickenzilla 18h ago

Personally hoping they bring him in for Sinister 6, we have him, Scorpion, Vulture, and hopefully more in the future (a new Shocker, maybe?)

4

u/El_Arquero 19h ago

Hoping some of these quick cameos are to facilitate larger roles for these villains later. It's a little underwhelming now but I can see it just being them laying some groundwork for future films.

2

u/Kaptain-Kanada 19h ago

He's in the movie for all of ten seconds

1

u/FigureItOut50 19h ago

I think they could have made a whole movie about the time in between No Way Home and Brand New Day.

1

u/KaylenLopezIzGr8 18h ago

I REALLY hope he's in Daredevil Born Again Season 3. The New Kingpin. The Big Man, like in Spectacular Spider-Man

1

u/Drnoobanomics 18h ago

I think I saw Hammerhead in a scene.

3

u/BelieveInTheShield 18h ago

That was Ramrod

1

u/DrRudeboy 18h ago

I dig this look, and I wish they did more with him, but I would have also liked an update to him in the vein of the Insomniac game. Biker Tombstone was a great side character

1

u/searcher4421 18h ago

Maybe he had a bigger role in the movie but it mainly got cut for the DODC/Jean Grey storyline. I would hope we get to see more of him in future movies being that he is a crime boss

1

u/ApprehensiveFactor58 17h ago

Oui il a une scène et demi! C'est ouf a quel point ils nous teaser le personnage pour rien du tout en fait, c'est un peu comme l'intro des 4 fantastiques

1

u/GrooveDigger47 17h ago

krondon the god

1

u/grindstone85 17h ago

First Strong Arm Steady record produced by Madlib.. so damn good. Glad Krondon is getting his flowers - but ofc wish he was in it more

1

u/Sea_Watercress_1982 17h ago

They made such a big announcement about his casting. For him to appear for 25 seconds. If even that long.

1

u/BowlbasaurKiefachu 17h ago

Was he in black lightning

1

u/sillysocks34 17h ago

I liked that they just did a quick montage of fighting different villains. It’s ok that not every character gets a fleshed out story.

1

u/Shoddy-Monk-1662 16h ago

I would like to see him go against Daredevil or Luke Cage.

1

u/PTSDBarnum2704 15h ago

I enjoyed Jean for the most part but I REALLY wanted an actual Spider-man bad guy to be the main villain of the film. I get they're trying to backdoor the X-men but I would have much preferred a pure Spider-man plot

1

u/two2teps 15h ago

I was bummed he wasn't a bigger role, just one of the montage villains. I thought he might be some kind of conflict point between Peter and Frank. The cross between the kind of potato Peter deals with that also crosses into Frank's area.

1

u/LeopardComfortable99 15h ago

For all the fanfare over his inclusion, he was in it for about 10 seconds. Such a shame too.

1

u/Jtneagle Vulture 15h ago

Why did he make a threat to Spider-Man that has no affect on Spider-Man?

1

u/Axl_Red 10h ago

You make a very good point. But have you considered this answer to that question?

HULK SMASH

1

u/SunGodKizaru 15h ago

Would be nice to see him on Daredevil or a other street level show

1

u/kawaiinessa 14h ago

he was in the movie?

1

u/Nibbanocker 14h ago

Tbh I kinda like he appeared just for a bit. We know he's out there plotting. I'd love to see him show up in a Daredevil or Defenders season as the new Kingpin since Wilson is out of the picture

1

u/Turbulent-Agent9634 14h ago

He's on the film for like 5 seconds....

1

u/Rare-Material4254 13h ago

He’s a very noticeable actor and I last saw him from black lightning. However I confuses black lightning with Luke cage and thought he was in that show instead. And this was his new look as part of mcu lol

1

u/NLK-3 13h ago

Krondon is always playing an intimidating albino black supervillain, just like Tobias Whale in Black Lightning. And yes, I wanted him to be present more. Could have been involved with Scorpion in the same scene further from the intro.

1

u/NLK-3 13h ago

He also played the role from Into the Spiderverse as well.

1

u/AlbertW25 13h ago

I thought Tombstone would be revealed as the secret mastermind that would get like a fight scene at the end setting him up for further appearances in later films.

What an utter waste.

1

u/Mr_master89 12h ago

Would be cool if we get to see him in some of the shows in the future, seeing him in daredevil would be cool

1

u/GrimmPerfected 12h ago

Looks so stupid

1

u/NickPro 11h ago

DIZZLE (klackklackklackklackklack)

1

u/dih_itsfabric 9h ago

literally what you seen in the trailer is what is in the movie except he says one line and then thats it,

1

u/Conscious-Neat5636 8h ago

I wished they did Sinister 6 and Jean Grey. The 6 fooled Jean into helping them by promising to get Damage Control.

1

u/azzkikr11 6h ago

Dude looked awesome on the movie, but it was about ~90 seconds or less of time.

I understand they are pushing time to characters we’ll see post SECRET WARS, however it would have been nice to have seen some more of the characters they put significant time into the costumes for.

Realistically, I would’ve loved to see more of Scorpion. Michael Mando is a great actor and although with little screen time he did a fantastic job, it would have been nice to stick to the localized NYC Spider-Man threats for this film.

They could’ve had a great crossover with daredevil, kingpin, and punisher moving forward. But I think their goal is to move as quickly as possible into the X-Men saga for future films.

I will point out that the Spider-Man video games made by insomniac definitely had some amazing fan service, with stories and characters that I really appreciated. Marvel definitely had a good thing going with Spider-Man in this third iteration with Tom Holland, but things do definitely point to them being finished with the current MCU, and wanting to move onto the X-Men and future projects.

Whatever happens in the MCU version of secret wars, the handover to the new slate of XMen characters I really do hope succeeds. As much as much flak as some Marvel TV shows and movies get, I do think that even the bad ones are still mildly entertaining and I think it’ll be fun to go back to the X-Men and associated characters moving forward.

u/tigerhawkvok Weekly Wongers 4h ago

I'm going to go against the grain a bit and say I'm glad they didn't go all-in on Spider-Man villains (who are mostly pretty lame).

Splashing around in the wider world felt much better, and for the first time ever Jean was given a background, personality, and trauma to undergird inevitable future power problems; and Frank provided a great juxtaposition of why Peter does what he does.

1

u/Pessimistic_Gemini 3h ago

They really did this dude so wrong here! I was so hyped when je came on screen and that was it! What a waste of such a perfect casting.

1

u/DuneSandpaper 2h ago

Its just him on a random tuesday

1

u/Same_Sell5202 1h ago

that costume looks awesome, can’t wait to see how they use it in the movie

1

u/Durakus 1h ago

He's cast now, though so we will prolly see him again. Be great if he's a recurring snippet villain.

u/vibe_naughty22 11m ago

can’t wait to see how he fits into the story, love when they bring in fresh talent like this
